Biafra Republic Government In-Exile, BRGIE, has countered the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, on a date for sit-at-home in honour of slayed Biafran heroes of the 1967-1970 Civil War in Nigeria.

In a statement on Sunday by the Prime Minister of BRGIE, Simon Ekpa, he disclosed that sit-at-home in Biafra land commences from 29th to 31st May 2024.

Recall that IPOB declared sit-at-home for May 30, 2024.

However, BRGIE noted that sit-at-home will last for three days.

Ekpa said the sit-at-home was necessary to enable Biafrans to vote for the Liberation of Biafra.

He explained that it would be worthless to honour sit-at-home without Biafrans casting their votes for the Liberation of Biafra.

He added that the Biafra Civil War only ended in the media, but the Nigerian government has been fighting Biafrans to date.

“There will be sit-at-home in Biafraland on the following dates to enable Biafrans to vote in the last phase of stage one self-referendum voting.

“29th May, 2024 sit at home and vote; 30th May, 2024 Biafra Day sit at home and vote; 31st May, 2024 sit at home vote.

“In addition, the Biafra Republic Government in Exile is not a political pressure group, unlike others who only agreed to sit at home on May 30. BRGIE is very proactive, and we channel all our efforts towards the Liberation of Biafra by every means necessary, so you are not just sitting at home on the 30th but using that to cast your vote.

“The civil war only ended on pages of newspapers but has not ended physically, militarily, politically and structurally.

“Nigeria has been fighting Biafra from 1970 till date. So, it is not enough to observe the sit-at-home only to remember heroes while heroes continue to fall from Nigeria attacks in 2024.

“Since the war has not ended in reality, we will use this May remembrance to further the Liberation of Biafra by making sure Biafrans participate in the voting process. I urge Biafrans across Southeast, South-South to vote for Biafra Liberation.

“Biafra Self referendum has three stages. The last stage will end in November 2024 while the Declaration convention will start on 29th November and end on 3rd of December 2024”, he stated.

Teacher, 26, charged with sexually abusing 15-year-old boy she met at church
A teacher has been arrested for allegedly sexually abusing a 15-year-old boy she met at church.

Reagan Gray, 26, was nabbed earlier this month after it emerged she had allegedly been assaulting the boy since 2020 when she was working as a volunteer at the Immanuel Baptist Church in Little Rock.

She is accused of bombarding the teen with nude photos even after an earlier investigation.

The boy’s parents discovered a slew of text messages on their son’s phone at the time and reported Gray to a senior pastor at the church, according to court papers.

Gray, who also worked as a teacher at Little Rock Christian Academy, was briefly removed from her volunteer position while undergoing counseling after allegedly telling church leaders the relationship wasn’t “physical.”

Then authorities got involved this February when it emerged that Gray had still been exchanging messages with the teen via Snapchat, the court documents charge.

During interviews with federal agents, the boy allegedly said Gray had given him MouthAction but they didn’t have intercourse so he could “stay pure,” according to the documents.

The alleged abuse, which occurred nearly a dozen times, took place in Gray’s car or apartment, the victim alleged.

In a subsequent interview with the FBI, a church leader admitted Gray had confessed last year during a counseling session that the relationship was sexual.

It wasn’t immediately clear if the church leader or the victim’s parents alerted investigators to the alleged abuse.

The church leader resigned from his position earlier this month over the handling of the allegations.

Meanwhile, Gray — who now works at Sylvan Hills Middle School — was placed on administration leave in February amid the probe.

She was slapped with a sexual assault charge after an arrest warrant was issued.

The police in Ekiti State have arrested a set of twins – Taiwo and Kehinde Olasoji – and two others – Funke Afolayan and Nnaji Aroh for burglary and receiving stolen goods.

The Commissioner of Police, Ekiti Command, Mr Adeniran Akinwale, said that twins were arrested on April 25 “while attempting to break a shop at Mathew Street, Odo-Ado, Ado Ekiti.

The CP, in a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Sunday Abutu, said that “during interrogation, the suspects confessed to the commission of the crime.

“They further stated that they were responsible for burgling three shops in Fayemi Market at Agric Olope, Ado Ekiti where they carted away two bags of rice, two bags of beans and other valuables valued at N936,750.

“Further investigation by the command’s Rapid Response Squad led to the arrest of one Afolayan Funke and Nnaji Benignus Aroh who the suspects claimed had been receiving stolen properties from them,” the statement added.

The commissioner said that “the suspects will be arraigned accordingly.”

The commissioner had on March 25 paraded some suspects including a burglary suspect who burgled a store at the Ekiti airport on March 7 and stole some iron rods.

Akinwale had said, “Upon the receipt of the information, the command’s Rapid Response Squad swung into action and 18 lengths of 12mm iron rods valued N261,000 were found in the possession of the suspect arrested.

“During interrogation, the suspect confessed to the commission of the crime and further said that he had been previously involved in stealing numerous iron rods from the site.”

The commissioner had implored all residents to be security conscious, vigilant and report any untoward incident or happening observed in their locality to the nearest police station.
