- Man United vs Liverpool's tough Premier League game will hold on Sunday, October 20

- Liverpool players were spotted casually enjoying a basketball game days to the clash against Manchester United

- Many online users took it as a sly dig at the Red Devils for their poor form

- United currently lie in 12th place on the log while Liverpool are runaway leaders with eight wins from eight

All eyes will be on Old Trafford on Sunday, October 20, as Liverpool gear up for a classic fixture against age-old rivals Manchester United.

It will be the first time the two sides are facing each other while miles apart as far as their fortunes are concerned, and bookmakers tip the game to be heavily one-sided, despite the history.


In the build up to the game, an interesting image surfaced online on Thursday, October 17, of Liverpool players enjoying themselves in the most hilarious fashion.

With a game of so much history and bitter rivalry in the horizon, one would expect both sides to be on their best form as they prepare for the showdown.

That seems not to be the case with Liverpool as they were casually enjoying some time off football to catch up on some basketball, less than 72 hours to the Super Sunday game.

Jurgen Klopp’s side came close last season but were unable to beat leaders Manchester City to the finish line, coming off short by a single point.

Defender Virgil Van Dijk recently spoke on their title winning chances as he emphasized his team had nothing to lose at this point as they were not the defending champions.

"I don't think we have anything to lose. Man City are the champions, they're defending their title and we want to get it. In my point of view, we just have to go for it,” the Dutch international was quoted by Sky Sports.

Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Liverpool defender Andy Robertson warned his team-mates Manchester United will not be an easy opponent when the two sides face off in a Premier League clash on Sunday, October 20.

The match comes at a time Man United are struggling for form having picked just two wins in eight matches of the new season.

• The holders bounced back from an opening loss at Napoli with a dramatic home victory against Salzburg on Matchday 2, and sit level on points with Salzburg and one behind section leaders Napoli. Genk bounced back from a heavy opening loss with a creditable draw at home to Napoli on Matchday 2.

I think because of the desire from Man Utd, an average team at the moment, and given the chance to turn it on and knock Liverpool's chances of winning the league, they may well do that.
Why does it take this for them to become motivated? If they draw do they take credit from that? As an Arsenal fan, this always used to be the game for them and was the one I was always intrigued by.
It was always at Old Trafford where the great games were. Anfield was more atmospheric and vibrant, but this was always the test for Liverpool, as they have never won the Premier League.

They have battered them on a few occasions and Man Utd still won the title, but this is do or die for United and a day of credibility for them to try and get a point, which I think they will do. They will scrap and sit in, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer knows that - they will not play expansively here.
Man Utd will not want to get beat and walk away. This is a 'parking the bus' kind of game, in which they cannot take a risk. If they get beat and Liverpool embarrass them, then it could spell even more danger for Solskjaer. I feel Marcus Rashford will offer something here.

This is the ultimate test for Leicester. They are the real deal and could be close to breaking into the top six. They beat Tottenham and should have got something against Man Utd, but they will go to Anfield and take them on. Liverpool's defence isn't as good as last season and we knew that, but they are five points clear. Brendan Rodgers knows how dangerous their front three will be, he will try to block the full-backs too and that isn't being defensive, it is being tactical. If Salzburg can score three times at Anfield then I'm sure Leicester could grab a goal. Liverpool have played well in some and stumbled in other, so this might be the one where they finally falter.

Fantasy Football tip
Ricardo Pereira is the highest scoring defender in Fantasy Football with 55 points, with over half of those coming in his last two matches, scoring twice. The £8.5m will have to be just as efficient in defensive duties on Saturday in order to combat the high-flying Andy Robertson (£10.3m) down the left, who scored his first Champions League goal against Red Bull Salzburg through the week.

Liverpool welcome Red Bull Salzburg to Anfield on Wednesday night looking to kickstart their latest Champions League defence after losing their opener in Naples.
A 2-0 defeat to Napoli has left the holders playing catch-up in Group E, and this game promises to be another difficult test against a Salzburg side that hit six past Genk on matchday one.
Match preview
For a team that has reached the last two Champions League finals and won the trophy for a sixth time in June, Liverpool have a few issues in the competition which need addressing.
Two late Napoli goals at the Stadio San Paolo on matchday one gave the scoreline a slightly misleading look, but it was still a fourth successive away group-stage defeat for the Reds, who have only won one of their last 10 away outings at this stage of the competition.
It is by no means time to hit the panic button yet, though, and Liverpool will be safe in the knowledge that their home form was enough to carry them through to the knockout stages - and ultimately all the way to the trophy - last season.
Three defeats from three on the road were offset by a 100% home record in the 2018-19 group stage, and Liverpool welcome Salzburg to Merseyside having avoided defeat in their last 22 European games on home turf, keeping clean sheets in each of their last five.

Klopp could decide to go for the experience of James Milner in midfield - as he did in Naples - but there are unlikely to be many major changes with Liverpool needing victory.

Haaland fired a warning to Liverpool that Salzburg would be "fearless" at Anfield, but that may just be music to the home side's ears. If the visitors try to play their usual attacking game then it is likely to play right into Liverpool's hands as not many teams can match the Reds going forward.
Salzburg's attacking numbers mean that we are backing them to get a goal at Anfield, but they have also failed to keep a clean sheet in their last six games and Liverpool could enjoy themselves in what should be a more open match than they are used to at Anfield.

Both Borussia Dortmund and Barcelona will be looking to start their Champions League group-stage campaigns with a win when the pair lock horns at Signal Iduna Park on Tuesday night.
The two teams have been drawn into Group F alongside Inter Milan and Slavia Prague, and it is shaping up to be a very interesting battle to secure the top two positions in the section.
Borussia Dortmund
Dortmund will head into Tuesday's contest full of confidence following an impressive 4-0 win over Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga on Saturday. Marco Reus scored twice for the hosts, while Paco Alcacer and Raphael Guerreiro were also on the scoresheet during a fine performance.
BVB suffered a 3-1 loss to Union Berlin in their last game before the international break but returned to winning ways in impressive fashion to occupy second spot in the table - one point off leaders RB Leipzig.
Now the German club will switch their attention to the Champions League, and it will be fascinating to see how they perform in what is a tough group when considering Inter's summer business, and indeed their new-found belief under serial winner
Antonio Conte .
This is actually Dortmund's 14th Champions League campaign - they won the competition in 1997, and claimed a runners-up spot in 2013. What's more, they have reached the round of 16 in five of their last six participations, meaning that it would be somewhat of a surprise if they did not advance from this section.
Last season, the German outfit were eliminated by Tottenham Hotspur in the round of 16, which included a 1-0 loss on home soil. Surprisingly, Dortmund have only won three of their last 10 European home matches, which is not the best record to bring into a clash with one of the finest sides in Europe.
That said, the Bundesliga giants have only lost three of their 15 home matches against Spanish opposition - winning five of the last seven. Indeed, last season, BVB recorded an impressive 4-0 home success over Atletico in the group stages, although they did lose the away clash 2-0 in the Spanish capital.
Dortmund have plenty of recent experience when it comes to facing Spanish opposition, but they have actually never locked horns with Barca in the Champions League. Indeed, their only two meetings came in the UEFA Super Cup back in 1998, where the La Liga outfit ran out 3-1 winners on aggregate.
Lucien Favre's side will be feeling good about themselves following an impressive victory over Leverkusen, and a win over Barca on Tuesday night would suggest that the team are capable of being a force in the competition this season.

Like Dortmund, Barca will enter the match off the back of a strong league win having recorded a 5-2 home success over Valencia on Saturday night. The Spanish champions were once again without a certain Lionel Messi but managed to put an important three points on the board.
Barca have already dropped points in two La Liga fixtures this season having lost to Athletic Bilbao and drawn with Osasuna , but Saturday's win has seen them rise into fourth spot in the table. It was also another special night for 16-year-old
Anssumane Fati , who scored his second goal for the club.
Luis Suarez also came off the bench to score twice on his return to the team, and the fact that the Uruguay international is now fit and available is a huge boost to the Catalan giants ahead of this match.
Messi is yet to play this season due to a calf problem, and Barca boss Ernesto Valverde recently admitted that the Argentina international is unlikely to be available for the clash with BVB. Suarez's return is huge, but the Spanish champions are just not the same team when their talisman is not available.
Barca, who won their fourth La Liga title in five years last season, have not failed to qualify for the first knockout round of the Champions League since the 2000-01 campaign. They reached the semi-finals of last season's competition after overcoming Lyon and Manchester United in the round off 16 and quarter-finals.
Valverde's side looked destined to make the final after a 3-0 first-leg win over Liverpool, but the Premier League club incredibly recorded a 4-0 success at Anfield to advance. Barca have actually only won four of their last 13 away matches in European competition, which will hand Dortmund confidence.
What's more, the La Liga side, who are five-time European champions, have won only two of their last seven matches against Bundesliga opposition on the road. Losing to Dortmund on Tuesday night would not be the end of the world for Barca, but as mentioned above, they are in a tricky group with Inter certainly showing signs of confidence under new head coach Conte.
Inter actually travel to Camp Nou on matchday two in the Champions League, and there would be huge pressure on Barca to pick up a positive result if they did suffer a defeat in Germany next week.

Alcacer, who has scored 10 goals in eight matches for club and country this season, will lead the Dortmund line against the club that he represented between 2016 and 2019.
Axel Witsel came through 78 minutes against Leverkusen after recovering from an adductor injury, and the experienced midfielder is expected to get the nod on Tuesday night.
Manuel Akanji also came through the Leverkusen clash despite suffering an ankle injury on international duty, meaning that the centre-back should make the XI.
Jadon Sancho has also had a fine start to the season for both BVB and England, and the in-demand 19-year-old is expected to start in the three behind Alcacer, which will also include Reus.
Thorgan Hazard and Julian Weigl are both pushing for spots in the starting XI, although the pair might have to make do with positions on the bench.
As for Barca, Messi is unlikely to be available. The Argentine could well travel to Germany with his teammates, although a spot in the starting XI seems almost impossible having not yet played a minute this season.
Suarez is expected to start having made his return off the bench against Valencia, though, and there will also be a spot in the final third for Antoine Griezmann.
Carles Perez has developed into a key player for Valverde early in the season, and the attacker could be given the nod over Fati, despite the 16-year-old enjoying a brilliant start to the campaign.
Valverde also has decisions to make in midfield with Sergi Roberto , Arthur , Ivan Rakitic and Arturo Vidal battling for the position alongside Frenkie de Jong and
Sergio Busquets in the middle of the park.
There are not expected to be any changes further back, though, with Nelson Semedo keeping his spot at right-back after coming through 90 minutes against Valencia despite a slight ankle complaint.

Sean Longstaff is out for Newcastle after suffering an ankle injury in training. Longstaff was hurt blocking a cross during Thursday's session and is still being assessed, and will join fellow midfielders Allan Saint-Maximin (hamstring) and Matt Ritchie (ankle), striker Dwight Gayle (calf) and defenders Florian Lejeune (knee) and DeAndre Yedlin (groin) on the sidelines. Frontman Andy Carroll was due to see a specialist on Friday afternoon as he looks to return to full training following ankle surgery earlier this year.

I am reading this week that there are a few injuries floating around Newcastle. Steve Bruce's last away game at Tottenham was a stunning result. Newcastle will be better suited away from home - they do not know what their fans will be doing regarding ownership.
I don't know who will be fit for Liverpool or whether they will go with the formidable front three, but at the moment Liverpool look as though they can wipe the floor with most teams. You cannot open up against them. Joelinton needs time and will not get any service. We will see how structured Newcastle can be at the back - they will have been working hard defensively.

Familiar faces await Liverpool when they begin their Champions League campaign on Tuesday with a visit to Napoli, the Serie A side who beat the Reds and almost fatally derailed the run that led all the way to the trophy last season.
The rerun of last term's group stage fixture represents an intriguing tangle between two teams who finished second in their respective top flights last season.
Less than a year after the hosts won 1-0 in Naples, the two meet as part of a group that both will expect to progress from, with a reasonably kind draw producing Red Bull Salzburg and Genk as their rivals to reach the knockout stages.
Napoli
Carlo Ancelotti is a man not predisposed to looking impressed, but the Napoli coach had one less reason to crack a smile recently following a visit by builders to the Stadio San Paolo.
Napoli agreed to play both of their opening Serie A games away from home while renovation works were carried out on the changing rooms, but the coach has voiced his disapproval at the quality of the work.
Napoli have become embroiled in a curious war of words with the architects responsible for the renovation, posting a video on social media showing missing sinks and jutting electrical sockets, among other oddities.
There was plenty of non-building related drama during Napoli's hiatus from their home, taking in 14 goals across two games and leaving them on the right and wrong ends of a pair of 4-3 scorelines.
In their opening match, at Fiorentina , they fell behind early on before scoring four goals in less than half an hour to win the game, including a 67th-minute winner with the scores level at 3-3.
Their next game, at champions Juventus , was even more exciting, although not for all the reasons Ancelotti would have wanted.
Taking on the team who beat them to the title by 11 points last season, Napoli recovered from going 3-0 down after 62 minutes to score three times in 15 minutes, only for centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly to net a 92nd-minute own goal that restored Juve's lead and gave them the win.
Diminutive midfielder Dries Mertens scored in both halves as Napoli enjoyed a
2-0 win at home to Sampdoria on Saturday, lifting them to fifth in the early table, three points behind leaders Inter Milan.

Less than five months after their last visit to Champions League opponents, when they were seen off 3-0 by Barcelona on a night when their hopes of becoming champions appeared in tatters, Liverpool will expect a more comfortable group stage experience than they endured last season.
They lost all three of their group stage games away from home, starting with that night at Napoli and proceeding to a 2-0 setback at Red Star Belgrade and a 2-1 defeat at Paris Saint-Germain .
Their home form saved them. With the exception of their opening 3-2 win over the Parisiens - a fine result in itself - Liverpool kept clean sheets in all of their Champions League matches at Anfield last season, including gaining revenge over Napoli.
Coach Jurgen Klopp has pointed out that two of his Champions League stars from last season, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane , have benefited from not participating in international matches during the recent Premier League break.
Striker Salah scored five goals while Senegal's Mane scored four on Liverpool's triumphant run, and between them the pair were directly involved in 12 of the Reds' goals in Europe.
