European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Aston Villa Vs Liverpool (7 - 2) On 4th October 2020 by luvola(op): 5:34pm On Oct 04, 2020
Liverpool head to Aston Villa on Sunday evening in a meeting of two sides with a perfect start to the season.

Something has to give at Villa Park, but both will be keen to continue their winning run in the Premier League, particularly after both lost in the EFL Cup in midweek.

Villa have had an admittedly easier start, with the Reds having faced both Chelsea and Arsenal already, but Dean Smith’s side haven’t yet conceded in league play while Liverpool have had a few shaky moments at the back.

Both teams are trying to keep pace with Everton, who have won four from four at the start of the season - and who Liverpool play next.

Liverpool Champions League fixtures and dates confirmed

We may earn commission from some of the links in this article, but we never allow this to influence our content.

When is the game?

The match kicks off at 7:15pm on Sunday at Villa Park.

Team news

Villa are without long-term absentees Wesley and Bjorn Engels, while Tom Heaton is on the road to recovery but unlikely to feature. Ross Barkley is in line for a debut, though it might be off the bench.

Liverpool are without Thiago and Mane due to positive coronavirus tests. Joel Matip and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are out injured, but Jordan Henderson is back in training and could be in the squad. Kostas Tsimikas is also a doubt.

Predicted line-ups

Villa: Martinez; Cash, Konsa, Mings, Targett; McGinn, Luiz, Hourihane; Trezeguet, Watkins, Grealish

Liverpool: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Gomez,  Van Dijk, Robertson; Keita, Fabinho, Wijnaldum; Salah, Firmino, Jota.

Prediction

Villa will make it tough for Liverpool and might revert to last season’s rather more defensive approach from the start, but the Reds should have enough to break them down even without their absent No. 10. Villa 1-2 Liverpool

Liverpool travel to Newcastle United looking to end a phenomenal season after lifting the Premier League trophy on Wednesday.
The Reds remain motivated based off their performance against Chelsea, and full of goals after hitting five at Anfield.

Mohamed Salah, particularly, looks hungry for goals, though Jamie Vardy is four goals clear in the race for the golden boot, which will surely prove too much for the Egyptian.

Steve Bruce’s side have been hit by injuries, but he’ll want a positive display to go out on after comfortably securing survival.

Here are the predicted line-ups and team news for the game at St James’ Park.

Liverpool celebrate Naby Keita's impressive finish (Liverpool FC via Getty Images)

When is it and what time is kick-off?
The match will begin at 4pm on Sunday 26 July at St James’ Park.
How can I watch it online and on TV?
The match will be broadcast live on BT Sport 2 and BT Sport Extra 2, you can find a live stream for the game through the BT Sport app to watch on mobile devices.
What is the team news?
Emil Krafth is a doubt with a knock to his ankle, which means the Swede could join Fabian Schar (shoulder), Paul Dummett (ineligible), Jamaal Lascelles (knock), Ciaran Clark (ankle) and Florian Lejeune (thigh) on the sidelines. Isaac Hayden (hamstring) and Sean Longstaff (hamstring) could return.

Joel Matip (foot) and Jordan Henderson (knee) remain out, while Dejan Lovren and Adam Lallana could be omitted with both primed for moves away. Takumi Minamino, Curtis Jones, Neco Williams and Harvey Elliott could all be in line for minutes in this free hit for the champions.
redicted line-uPps
Newcastle XI: Dubravka, Hayden, Fernandez, Rose, Manquillo, Bentaleb, Shelvey, Almiron, Ritchie, Saint-Maximin, Gayle

Liverpool XI: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson, Keita, Fabinho, Wijnaldum, Salah, Minamino, Mane
What are the odds?
Newcastle: 13/2
Draw: 17/4
Liverpool: 4/11
Prediction
The Reds may be nursing a few hangovers after the party following the trophy presentation, but they should have too much quality for an injury-hit Newcastle. Mohamed Salah is still hungry for goals and the Reds should ease to an emphatic victory to close off their historic campaign. 0-3.

SportsLiverpool Vs Chelsea : Chelsea reposted and delete Gerrard 2014 Slip by luvola(op):
Chelsea have well and truly stoked the fires ahead of tomorrow night’s clash at Anfield.

The Blues have it all play for in their quest for Champions League qualification, but for Liverpool, pride is on the line – and there is absolutely no way the team will want to lose or even draw a game before they head up the Kop to collect the trophy…

And for some reason, Chelsea’s official account decided to tweet a windup of the Steven Gerrard slip moment – which is ridiculous considering we have already won the title and will literally lift it after playing them…

They deleted the tweet – but thankfully – this lad screenshotted it – and you can see it below.

What on earth are they playing at?!

Let’s hope Jurgen Klopp pins it on the dressing room wall…

LIV VS CHE: Klopp Promises Liverpool Fans Revenge For 2014 Slip-Up

Jurgen Klopp said his Liverpool side will not lose against Chelsea on Wednesday night as they prepare to receive the Premier League trophy at Anfield.
The champions have dropped 10 points in their last seven Premier League games since project restart and that is double the five points they dropped in the previous 29 games.
The Liverpool boss accepted that it had been difficult to prepare his side for matches since their won the title. And with the trophy presentation scheduled after the final whistle on Wednesday the German coach knows his side will have to try and focus.

Klopp did though boldly predict his side would not lose and offered the fans a revenge win for their 2014 title defeat, when Steven Gerrard’s infamous slip allowed Chelsea to score. Jose Mourinho’s men won 2-0 and Liverpool’s title hopes slipped away.
Klopp said: “We have to make the first step before the second and first is the game. Then we get the trophy for an outstanding season.

“I am not willing to make that smaller. They all know it’s more fun if you win but it is a proper challenge. Chelsea have history with this [in 2014].”
“I”m not sure how many were in that team [in 2014] but if you want, we can strike back for that. I don’t think we will lose the game, we are in a proper mood for the game. But we have to show that on the pitch.”Klopp admits mistakes cost LiverpoolLiverpool boss Jurgen Klopp admits two huge mistakes from Virgil van Dijk and Alisson Becker cost his side against Arsenal.
In fact there are no players remaining from that 2014 team, which was lead by Brendan Rodgers.

“We’ve always had massive pressure but we have done quite well. Let’s make it difficult for them and possible for us. That is the plan,” added Klopp.

No sub appearance for Klopp

“Chelsea will make some good changes but they have had a proper boost [from FA Cup]. We have to make sure it is not easy for them. Small details decide games and we have to put these things right.

“This is a challenge, being champions and playing these teams. I thought about how it was when I’ve won something before and it’s football. The boys love doing what they do. So far I am fine with attitude we’ve shown. I expect a good game from us and Chelsea.”
“It’s a big challenge. When Pep was at Bayern, we came 2nd with Dortmund. They dominated and lost some games as there was nothing to go for. I am happy how we showed up. There was nothing obvious, just little things you could see. We were the better side v Arsenal.”
Klopp was informed that Kenny Dalglish, who will present the trophy on Wednesday, was part of presentation team after coming on as sub when Liverpool last won title in 1990.

But Klopp added: “There’s no chance I’m coming on as sub tomorrow night!”

We remember how Gerard pass to Drogba in the year 2009 that handed Chelsea EPL over bitter rival Manchester united.

Expect Henderson to do own goal. Liverpool will intentionally lose to Chelsea next week.

Liverpool will rather lose than allow Manchester United to qualify for champions league.

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)EPL : Bournemouth Vs Leicester City Today At 7:00pm by luvola(op): 12:48pm On Jul 12, 2020
The Foxes are within touching distance of the Champions League and our tipster is backing them to pick up three crucial points at the Vitality Stadium
Leicester City will be looking to continue their Champions League push when they travel to Bournemouth on Sunday evening.
The Foxes endured a lacklustre resumption to the Premier League, picking up just two points from their first three games back, but a win and a draw in their last two fixtures have seen them get back on track.
Bournemouth ended a five-game losing streak by holding
Tottenham to a 0-0 draw on Thursday but are still three points away from safety.
Editors' Picks
Bournemouth vs Leicester City Latest Odds
Leicester won the reverse fixture 3-1 and bet365 make them just
4/6 (1.67) to become the sixth team to do the double over Bournemouth this season.
Victory for the Cherries would go a long way to helping their survival cause but the online bookmaker price them at 17/4 (5.25) to beat the Foxes at home for the third time in four seasons.
A draw could prove to be a precious point for Bournemouth and that result is available at 14/5 (3.80) .
Bournemouth vs Leicester City Team News
Adam Smith was stretchered off with an apparent head injury in Bournemouth’s draw against Spurs and will miss this clash, along with Steve Cook.
James Maddison and Ben Chilwell will both miss out again, whilst Harvey Barnes will hope to start after coming off the bench in Leicester’s last two matches.
Bournemouth vs Leicester City Preview
After being 14 points clear of fifth and looking like they might even challenge for the title back in December, Leicester have struggled for consistency and are now in the top four by just a single point.
A tricky final three games await the Foxes after this one, with
Sheffield United, Spurs and
Manchester United the opponents, so it is imperative to their cause that they take maximum points at the Vitality Stadium.
Bournemouth did well to hold Spurs to a draw on Thursday but, in truth, Jose Mourinho’s men were exceptionally poor and did not have a single shot on target.
Bournemouth vs Leicester City Tips and Predictions
The goalless draw against Spurs means the Cherries have now scored just three goals since the restart and the result is more likely to be the exception to the rule rather than a sign of things to come.

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)EPL : Manchester City Vs Liverpool On 2nd July 2020 At 8:15pm by luvola(op):
Jürgen Klopp reported no new injury concerns ahead of Liverpool’s trip to Manchester City after Joel Matip revealed he is set to miss the rest of the season.

The Premier League champions visit the Etihad Stadium on Thursday and the boss was asked whether he has any fresh fitness worries during his pre-match press conference.
“No, not yet. The one with Joel you probably know and that's all for the moment,” Klopp replied.

Matip confirmed on Tuesday that the foot injury he sustained against Everton on June 21 will preclude him from further action in 2019-20.
James Milner was absent from last Wednesday’s 4-0 win over Crystal Palace due to a hamstring issue, and Xherdan Shaqiri (calf) has not played for the Reds since January.
City, meanwhile, will be without Sergio Aguero (knee) and Fernandinho (suspension), while Eric Garcia sustained a head injury in their game versus Arsenal last month and has not featured since.

On the reasons behind Liverpool usurping his team as Premier League winners this season, Pep Guardiola told the media: “It was a team that was better playing at an outstanding level and we have to do more.
“Football and sport help you to understand that another side was better, you have to try to reduce the gap. For the next seven or eight games and next season we must work harder and better.
“There are many details and we are not far away, but we have to do a little bit more in many aspects.”

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Liverpool Vs Crystal Palace (4 - 0) On 24th June 2020 by luvola(op): 11:32pm On Jun 23, 2020
After three months without proper football, fans need to recalibrate for quick turnarounds. With 35 days in which to play nine games, the coming months will be hectic, although much less stressful for the Reds and their supporters, since Liverpool had, mercifully, all but wrapped up the league well before the pandemic put the world in stasis.

Tomorrow’s opponents have it all to play for, as, with Manchester City facing a ban from European competition, a wildly improbable Champions League spot is only four points away, while qualification for the Europea League requires only an improvement in goal difference.
Naturally, these are both unlikely scenarios, but following a dominant win over Bournemouth on Saturday, an invigorated Roy Hodgson will undoubtedly set his side up to frustrate the Reds and hit them on the break tomorrow, with Wilfried Zaha, Jordan Ayew, and former Liverpool slayer and player Christian Benteke all capable of punishing moments of indecision or laziness.
Martin Kelly, Jeffrey Schlupp, and James Tomkins all miss out with injuries, however, and the aging quartet who featured on Saturday will likely feel the lay-off in their legs after such a quick turnaround.

Projected Liverpool Lineup (4-3-3)

Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, van Dijk, Robertson; Fabinho, Wijnaldum, Oxlade-Chamberlain; Mané, Firmino, Salah
As expected following the long lay-off, the Reds suffered a few knocks in their return to action on Sunday, and both Joël Matip and James Milner look set to miss out with an injured foot and hamstring, respectively.

On the bright side, Andrew Robertson should be cleared to start, and as such, there is a good chance Jürgen Klopp can put out his strongest back four tomorrow, with Joe Gomez partnering Virgil van Dijk in central defence, and Trent Alexander-Arnold rounding out the quartet at right-back. Appearances from Dejan Lovren and Neco Williams aren’t our of the question, but would, on recent evidence, likely spell disaster.
In midfield, Jordan Henderson and Fabinho both played 90 minutes on Sunday, and at least one is likely to be rested, while Naby Keïta, Georginio Wijnaldum and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain battle it out for the remaining two spots.
Up top, Mohamed Salah should be ready for action, while either Sadio Mané or Roberto Firmino are candidates for a rest, particularly considering Takumi Minamino’s impressive cameo on Sunday.

At any rate, and as in the previous fixture, Klopp is likely to use all of his five subs, in order to stave off injuries and maintain freshness in the squad as they power through the end of the season.

What the Managers Said

Jürgen Klopp: “It is a game against a very, very good side. Roy is doing an incredible job there. The organisation of the team is really, really, really highest level.”
Roy Hodgson: “Nothing changes in terms of that quality of the opposition. The quality Liverpool have and the way they play, their organisation and determination to keep going despite the fact they’ve had the title in their pocket for quite a while.”

Preview: Everton vs. Liverpool - prediction, team news, lineups

By Barney Corkhill, Editor | 1d

Liverpool finally have the chance to recommence their Premier League title charge on Sunday when they make the short trip across Stanley Park to take on Everton in the 287th Merseyside derby.
The Reds arrive at Goodison Park with a 22-point lead at the top of the table and knowing that just two more wins will be enough to wrap up a first top-flight crown since 1990.

After 30 years of waiting, Liverpool fans have had to be patient for a few months longer than expected as the coronavirus pandemic halted an otherwise unstoppable assault on the Premier League title.
At one stage there was the threat that all of Liverpool's record-breaking achievements would be wiped from the history books and that they would be denied the title in the cruellest of ways, with the 2019-20 campaign being declared null and void.
The red half of Merseyside will be happier than anyone to see the Premier League return, then, although the prospect of officially wrapping up the title in the backyard of their closest neighbours was taken away from them by Manchester City's victory over Arsenal on Wednesday night.
Nevertheless, Liverpool are still only six points away from officially being crowned champions of England for the first time since 1990, adding to their status as champions of Europe and champions of the world.
The unprecedented nature of the coronavirus stoppage will naturally be what the 2019-20 campaign is most remembered for in the future, but Liverpool's exploits also look set to stand the test of time and they will have their sights set on breaking yet more records over the final nine games.

Having incredibly dropped only five of the opening 87 on offer this season, Liverpool need 19 more points from the last 27 available to surpass Manchester City's centurions in terms of the highest overall points tally in a single campaign, while they also look certain to win the title with more games to spare than any other club has managed in the past.
Liverpool's run of picking up 106 points from a possible 108 is almost unfathomable and may never be repeated, although they were in the midst of their first real wobble when play was suspended and travel to Goodison Park having lost four of their last six games across all competitions.
That run includes their solitary Premier League defeat of the season - a 3-0 reverse against Watford - while they were not entirely convincing in bouncing back with a 2-1 triumph over Bournemouth in their most recent top-flight outing before lockdown.

For all of the fears that it could scupper their inevitable title, then, the break may have come at an opportune moment for Liverpool as they aim to continue their remarkably dominant record against their local rivals.
Liverpool have not lost a Merseyside derby for a decade now and have already beaten Everton twice this season, so for the Toffees this is arguably the worst possible fixture with which to return.

There may be optimism amongst Everton that they can capitalise on the unique circumstances created by the three-month stoppage, which will see them play a competitive match in June for the first time ever and Liverpool play only their second - after last year's Champions League final win over Tottenham Hotspur.
For Liverpool this match could nudge a prize even more coveted than that sixth Champions League crown to within touching distance, but Everton will relish the chance to prolong their rivals' wait just that little bit longer.
The Toffees have certainly improved since Carlo Ancelotti's arrival, winning five and losing only three of their 11 Premier League games under the Italian so far.
However, they - like Liverpool - suffered a slump immediately prior to lockdown, picking up just one point from a three-game spell against Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea - the latter a heavy 4-0 defeat.
Everton have ambitions of challenging that calibre of clubs for European places under Ancelotti, but they have won just one of their Premier League matches against members of the 'big six' this season.

Indeed, all but one of the points they have won in those games this season have come at home, where Everton are currently enjoying a seven-match unbeaten run which stretches back to November.
Whether the lack of fans inside Goodison Park affects that form remains to be seen, but they would certainly rather the stands be packed and the atmosphere electric for the visit of Liverpool.
Relegation may not have crossed the minds of the Toffees, but it is worth noting that victory would take them to the magic 40-point mark and could lift them into the top half of the table.
A European push is not completely off the cards either with only six points separating Everton from seventh-placed Wolverhampton Wanderers, although with five of their remaining nine games coming against teams currently above them in the table they may need to upset some odds along the way - starting on Sunday.
Everton Premier League form: DWWLDL
Liverpool Premier League form: WWWWLW
Liverpool form (all competitions): LWLLWL

Liverpool are sweating over the fitness of top-scorer Mohamed Salah for this match, with the winger not pictured in training recently and having missed a warm-up game last week.
Manager Jurgen Klopp has refused to rule the Egyptian - or fellow injury doubt Andrew Robertson - out of the contest, but he is unlikely to take any risks over his fitness with games coming thick and fast in the next few weeks.
The likes of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Adam Lallana and Takumi Minamino could fill in for Salah should he miss out, but Divock Origi would be hopeful of beating them all to a place if only for his record against Everton.
The Belgian has scored five goals in just seven derby appearances, including a brace in the reverse; should he score two or more goals again this weekend then he would become the first Liverpool player since 1925-26 to net more than once in both league derbies within a season.
Everton are also missing some key men, with Yerry Mina, Theo Walcott, Cenk Tosun, Jean-Philippe Gbamin and Fabian Delph all sidelined for the restart.
Andre Gomes is fit after shaking off a knock, while Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin will hope to pick up from where they left off in front of goal.
Richarlison and Michael Keane both netted in the Anfield reverse and so could become the first Everton players to score home and away against Liverpool in the same league season since Andrei Kanchelskis in 1995-96.
Everton possible starting lineup:
Pickford; Sidibe, Keane, Holgate, Digne; Bernard, Gomes, Dvies, Sigurdsson; Calvert-Lewin, Richarlison
Liverpool possible starting lineup:
Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson; Henderson, Fabinho, Wijnaldum; Origi, Firmino, Mane
