Mooney scored in front of the Kop in August 1999 as the Hornets recorded their first (and still only) league points at Liverpool in a 1-0 win. That was their only away victory of the entire season, as they finished bottom of the Premier League.
Watford, like Liverpool, are a much better side these days. Javi Gracia's men have lost just one of their last 10 away games in all competitions, and

Jurgen Klopp returns to Germany to take on his former foe as Liverpool travel to Bayern Munich for the second leg of the Champions League last-16 tie on Wednesday.
Bayern snatched several of Klopp's Borussia Dortmund players during his time in Germany, and also broke Dortmund hearts in the 2013 Champions League final, even if Klopp managed to top Bayern to win back-to-back Bundesliga titles in 2010/11 and 2011/12.
Klopp's latest clash with Bayern is a tough one, with Liverpool having been held to a 0-0 draw in the first leg at Anfield, but by shutting out Bayern, they know an away goal means Bayern would then have to score twice to progress to the last eight.
However, Liverpool's record away from home in Europe is far from impressive this season, having lost all three of their group stage away games, including to Red Star Belgrade. In fact, Liverpool's only goal in their three away Champions League games this season was a James Milner penalty against Paris Saint-Germain.
Since the Anfield leg, Bayern have won three in a row, scoring 12 goals in the process, to move back to the top of the Bundesliga, and are looking to reach the quarter-finals of the Champions League for the eighth consecutive season, last failing at the round of 16 stage in 2010/11 against Inter Milan.

Naby Keita did not travel with Liverpool

Liverpool midfielder Naby Keita did not travel with the 21-man squad which flew out to Germany. The Guinea international missed out with a minor injury which forced him to remain on Merseyside.
Defender Trent Alexander-Arnold, who was taken off as a precaution during Sunday's win against Burnley, and midfielder James Milner, who missed that match with a muscle problem, were both included in the travelling party.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has urged his sides fans to create a powerful atmosphere in their Champions League clash with Bayern Munich.
The Reds face the German league champions in the first leg of their last 16 tie at Anfield on Tuesday night, as daunting a task as they could have expected in the first knockout round.
Klopp has said that the crowd can help Liverpool raise their game to “140%”, an oddly specific number that we’re not really sure how he arrived at.

Liverpool resume their Champions League campaign with a tantalising tie against German giants Bayern Munich at Anfield on Tuesday night.
The last-16 first-leg clash will be the first meeting of the two continental heavyweights, who have each won the European Cup on five occasions, since the Reds beat Bayern in the final of the UEFA Super Cup back in 2001.
Niko Kovac's Bundesliga champions qualified for the knockout stages of this season's competition by topping Group E ahead of Ajax, Benfica and AEK, while Jürgen Klopp's men finished second in Group C, behind Paris Saint-Germain, and ahead of Napoli and Red Star Belgrade.
Both sides currently sit second in their domestic leagues and seem closely matched heading into this contest. We've picked out three key battles that could help decide the game...
Sadio Mane v Joshua Kimmich
Versatile Germany international Kimmich has played more minutes under Bayern boss Kovac than any other player this season, including every second of their Champions League campaign thus far.
Predominantly used at right-back this term, the 24-year-old is equally adept playing as a midfield pivot and initially made the breakthrough in Munich as a makeshift centre-back under Pep Guardiola, who insisted Kimmich had the quality to play in any position.
Tipped off by his former boss Guardiola, Barcelona legend Xavi Hernandez has been following Kimmich's career closely and after meeting the player at a Doha training camp last month said: "He can be one of the best players in world football in several positions, maybe he already is."
Ball-playing Kimmich, who leads Bayern with 12 assists this season, is expected to eventually end up in midfield as a No.6, but it's his defensive fortitude at full-back that is sure to be put to the test at Anfield when he comes up against an in-form Mane.
Liverpool's Senegalese forward has scored in each of his last four games and is only behind Mohamed Salah in the club's scoring charts for the season.
Usually starting from the left flank, the No.10 has developed the happy knack of claiming crucial goals.
Mane bagged Liverpool's last - which proved to be the winner - in the thrilling 4-3 victory against Crystal Palace last month, scored the Reds' single strikes in a pair of 1-1 draws with Leicester City and West Ham United, and netted the opener to initiate a 3-0 win over Bournemouth last time out.
Georginio Wijnaldum v Leon Goretzka
Signed from FC Schalke in the summer, Germany international Goretzka has become an integral part of Kovac's central midfield - often playing in tandem with Spain international Thiago at the base of a 4-2-3-1 formation.
The 24-year-old, who says he models his game on the likes of Bastian Schweinsteiger and Toni Kroos, has the ability to score goals from deep and pick out key passes for his teammates - notching six goals and three assists this season.
His box-to-box role can make him hard to pick up as he can drop deep or move further forward to find gaps as the game dictates. If Goretzka does find space in the final third, expect to see a long-range shot - one of his specialities.
Looking to shut down the young German and exert his own influence on the tie will be Liverpool's Dutch midfielder Wijnaldum, who is not dissimilar to his potential opponent in his ability to play as either an attacking or more defensive option.
The 28-year-old began the season having transitioned into a traditional No.6 role, as the deepest man in midfield, but in recent fixtures he's reverted to a position further up the pitch.
In last Saturday's 3-0 win against Bournemouth, the Netherlands international was the most advanced midfielder in a 4-3-3. He set up three goalscoring opportunities for his teammates, enjoyed a 91 per cent pass completion rate and scored an exquisite lob after breaking forward to connect with Andy Robertson's lofted pass.
If Wijnaldum can replicate his attacking repertoire at Anfield on Tuesday, he will almost certainly cause problems for Goretzka and Thiago.
Joel Matip v Robert Lewandowski
This battle promises to renew an old rivalry from German football's Ruhr derby, when Matip's Schalke battled Lewandowski's Borussia Dortmund for regional bragging rights.
The duo faced off seven times in all competitions during this four-year period and shared the spoils equally - winning three each and drawing one.
Lewandowski secured his high-profile move to Bayern in 2014 and gained the advantage in their head-to-head before Matip joined Liverpool two years later.
The Reds defender will certainly know all about his opponent's game heading into this clash, as will manager Jürgen Klopp, who mentored the Poland international during his time in Dortmund. Stopping Lewandowski, however, is another matter.
He has been Bayern's top scorer in each of the last four seasons - 2017-18 (41), 2016-17 (43), 2015-16 (42), 2014-15 (25) - and the 6ft 1in forward is top of the tree again this term, and by quite some distance, with 25 strikes so far.
A classic No.9, the 30-year-old conducts most of his business in and around the box, where his natural sense of positioning, awareness and deadly finishing with either foot, or aerially, make him prolific.
Usually deployed as a lone centre-forward, shackling Lewandowski would go a long way to blunting Bayern's attack. Matip's familiarity with his old foe might make him best placed to do just that.
The centre-back has played every minute of Liverpool's last four matches after returning from a broken collarbone fresh and rested.
He led the team with 11 clearances and two interceptions as Liverpool kept a clean sheet against Bournemouth last time out and his return to form is perfectly timed with Virgil van Dijk suspended for this match.

Bayern Munich coach Niko Kovac warned his team they would find themselves under heavy pressure against Liverpool unless they improved defensively.
The Bundesliga giants came from behind twice before claiming a 3-2 victory over Augsburg on Friday.
But Bayern's defending concerned Kovac ahead of the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie against Liverpool at Anfield on Tuesday, with his side having now failed to keep a clean sheet in six games in 2019.

Kovac, who is hopeful over Coman's availability for the trip to Anfield, said Bayern were still not where he wanted them to be when out of possession.
"I think it felt like three shots from Augsburg and two of them scored. That's what basically haunts us throughout the season – every shot is a goal," he said.

Mauricio Pochettino says he is not surprised by the emergence of Borussia Dortmund's English winger Jadon Sancho as Spurs prepare to take on the German side in the Champions League.
The 18-year-old, who joined from Manchester City in 2017, has produced eight goals and 10 assists for the Bundesliga leaders this season.
"We knew very well that he was capable of doing what he's doing now," Pochettino said. "We were talking in the last few years that he was a massive prospect."
Dortmund flight delayed as Sancho forgets passport
Sancho is expected to be named in the starting XI after Dortmund captain Marco Reus was ruled out of the last-16 first leg match with a thigh injury.
Pochettino added: "Of course he is showing now in Germany that he can cope with the pressure to play in the Bundesliga or in the Champions League. And no, it doesn't surprise me. His talent is there and he's a very talented player."
The teenager, whose three goals helped England win the Under-17 World Cup in 2017, won his first senior cap for England against Croatia last October.
Dortmund midfielder Thomas Delaney said Sancho's team-mates were trying to keep his feet on the ground.
"Jadon is a big, big talent, with talent comes opportunities and he has them for sure," Delaney said.

Defender Jan Vertonghen is confident Tottenham can reach the last eight for the first time since 2011.

Already the biggest fixture in English football, Sunday's meeting between
Manchester United and Liverpool will seem that bit bigger with the hosts chasing top-four football and the visitors bidding for a first top-flight title since 1990.
The two clubs have won 38 league titles between them, and Liverpool's hopes of adding another to that tally could hinge on how they fare at the home of their greatest rivals.

Jose Mourinho 's ill-fated Manchester United reign and ushered in the Ole Gunnar Solskjaer era.
Still only in interim charge, the Norwegian would surely secure the job on a permanent basis if his side are able to beat the very team which ultimately forced the sacking of his predecessor.
Solskjaer has passed almost every test which has come his way with flying colours so far, winning 11 of his 13 matches at the helm across all competitions, including eight of his nine Premier League games.
It is not only a record which puts him at the top of the list of United's illustrious list of managers; should the Red Devils avoid defeat on Sunday then Solskjaer will have picked up more points from his first 10 games in charge than any other manager in Premier League history.
The scale of the turnaround has been seismic, and while the initial upturn may have been as much down to Mourinho's cloud being lifted as Solskjaer's appointment, the continuation of their good form can only be attributed to the interim boss.
The Norwegian has already beaten Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal and Chelsea in his short spell at the helm, with the only blot on his copybook coming in the Champions League against the might of Paris Saint-Germain.

Jurgen Klopp says the title race is "getting exciting" as his Liverpool side look to retake top spot this weekend.
The Reds host Bournemouth in increasing need of a return to victory after dropping points in consecutive games against Leicester and West Ham, and seeing Manchester City knock them off the top of the table for the first time in nearly two months.
But Klopp refuted any worries about sitting second ahead of this weekend's game and said he expected the title race to go to the wire.
He said: "Oh, it's obvious that it's getting exciting now. So it was never a doubt that it will happen. So it was always clear. I don't think that anybody thought that we will be top of the league with 12 points between us and another team and three games to go, or something like, that would be the end of April or something like that.

"That was always clear that it will be tight until the end. The good news is still that we are in that but, of course, the only chance to improve our position, even though it's a good position, is by winning football games and we have another chance on Saturday.

Bournemouth have never won at Anfield but this has already been a season defying the odds for Bournemouth, and their 33-point tally is their best Premier League return at this stage of the season.
Just three wins on the road have hampered their hopes for a top-seven finish, after occupying that position for several matches earlier in the campaign, but Eddie Howe is still optimistic of causing an upset at Anfield.
"These challenges have always faced us before and we tend to look at it as writing new history for the club," said Howe.

Manuel Pellegrini is adamant West Ham can beat Premier League leaders Liverpool when the two sides play each other at the London Stadium on Monday Night Football.
West Ham head into the fixture on the back of recent defeats at Bournemouth and Wolves in the Premier League, and an FA Cup humiliation at AFC Wimbledon.
Pellegrini, however, is backing his players to turn in an improved display on Monday.

Liverpool did not handle the pressure well (at home to Leicester on Wednesday). They started with a goal in three minutes, but after that they were lethargic with the pass, Salah was denied a lot of space and I think West Ham will look at it and say, 'we will get in your face and get about you'.
It also looks like Arnautovic may be struggling to be fit, despite what West Ham say, but they have Hernandez - if they keep him - and Anderson, who can be a real handle and when he does it well, he does it really, really well. So, they will be dangerous and a real test for them and if they play it more like a counterattacking game, it will suit them and Liverpool will be a bit agitated.
If I am Pellegrini, then I'm playing this as an away match and let Liverpool have possession. But I just feel this game will suit Liverpool going to the London Stadium and they will nick it, but there could be late drama with Origi coming off the bench to win it.

Premier League leaders Liverpool return to action on Wednesday evening with a home match against an out-of-form Leicester City side.
The Reds have had 11 days off since beating Crystal Palace in a seven-goal thriller, having crashed out of both domestic cup competitions.

Jurgen Klopp took his players to Dubai for some warm-weather training.
The Reds headed into their winter break of sorts with a number of injury issues, which will not have fully cleared up for this return to top-flight action.
Despite being knocked out of the FA Cup by Wolverhampton Wanderers earlier this month, though, and losing some key men to injuries, Liverpool have won back-to-back league matches to remain clear of Man City at the top.
Since losing 2-1 to the champions, reducing the gap at the top from seven points to four, Klopp's men have edged out Brighton & Hove Albion 1-0 at the Amex Stadium - Mohamed Salah scoring a contentious penalty to settle that one - and defeated Palace 4-3 at Anfield.
That thriller on January 19 gave Liverpool another chance to show their true character, as they battled back from a goal down and then 2-2 to pick up three points for the 19th time this season.
The win over Palace also extended the Reds' unbeaten run at Anfield to 32 matches in the Premier League - the longest such run in the division since Man City went 37 games without defeat between December 2010 and December 2012.
Liverpool are also unbeaten in their last 19 home midweek games in the Premier League (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday), winning 13 of those and drawing six since a 1-0 loss vs. Fulham in May 2012.
The last seven of those games have ended in victory, and they could now make it eight in a row for the first time since March 2010. One positive for opponents Leicester to hold on to, however, is that Liverpool conceded as many goals against Palace as they had in their previous 15 outings at Anfield combined.
Klopp's side still boast the best defensive record in the division, conceding four goals fewer than next best Man City, though their injury issues are beginning to tell. The week-and-a-half break may have come at the perfect time for the leaders, but they now need to hit the ground running as any sort of slip-up will allow the Citizens to pounce.

Claude Puel never seems to be more than a couple of games away from being sacked, and three losses on the spin - including a shock FA Cup exit at Newport County - seemingly leaves him on the brink of exiting the King Power Stadium.
Reports suggest that Leicester intend to push ahead with their transfer business over the remaining few days of the winter window, with Monaco's Youri Tielemans a possible target, but Puel is surely now living on borrowed time.
As well as losing to League Two side Newport at the third-round stage of the FA Cup - a decision that did not go down well with supporters due to a second-string XI being fielded - City have also lost to Southampton and Wolverhampton Wanderers in the league.
It is the eighth time the Foxes have lost consecutive league matches under Puel, though they have not lost three in a row in the competition since February 2017 under Claudio Ranieri.
If the 4-3 defeat to Midlands rivals Wolves was a little harsh, conceding a fourth goal in the final seconds of play, then there can be no complaints about the performance in the 2-1 home loss to strugglers Southampton that preceded it.
Puel's men do have a decent record against the division's big boys, though, having defeated Chelsea and Man City in back-to-back matches either side of Christmas, sandwiched by losses to Palace and Cardiff City.
However, Leicester have lost each of their last 11 Premier League games against sides starting the day top of the table, conceding at least twice every time (27 in total) and netting just five in return. Their last such win came in January 1998 at Manchester United.
United are next up for City after this trip to Anfield, closely followed by a clash with Tottenham Hotspur, so it could easily get worse before it gets better for the mid-table side.

Klopp still has a problem at right-back, though, as Trent Alexander-Arnold is not over a knee issue, the versatile Joe Gomez is struggling with an ankle injury and makeshift defender James Milner is suspended.
Fabinho , himself able to slot into different positions, is therefore likely to start at right-back, and Georginio Wijnaldum should be available again after recently picking up a knee injury.
Leicester will wait until the last minute before making a decision on Harry Maguire , meanwhile, with the centre-back limping off against Wolves in City's most recent match.
Daniel Amartey will definitely feature, but Puel does at least have options further up the field as Harvey Barnes and Demarai Gray are pushing for inclusion.
