Gear heads in the house, please I need a your intellectual input.
I'm working on a 2010 rav4 U140e transmission. Gear wasn't shifting from 1 throughout the drive time, owner said everything was fine until she discovered transfluid leaks and one gear master took the car for oil pump and converter replacement. I replaced the converter installed by gear master cos the seal inside was broken, disassembled the valve body, replaced 2 dead solenoids and stiffened the return springs of some shift valves in the valve body a little bit cos I noticed the valves were not returning to their rest position when I plunged them with a tiny screwdriver. I replaced O rings on the accumulator pistons and cleaned the entire valve body thoroughly
Now gear shifts fine from 1 to 2 but skips gear 3 and then to 4 making the engine rpm to spike high on 3.
Can a low transmission fluid level cause the transmission to skip the third gear? Any suggestion please |

Bashak: They scanned the car and it was not showing any faults or errors. Attached was the picture he sent me He should have sent you a screenshot copy of the diagnostic report. also disassembling your transmission box without your approval is very inappropriate. chances of that gear working again is very slim. just have at the back of your mind that you'll buy another transmission. |

jceesquare: It's obvious you guys didn't understand my question. Running a 20W50 in any modern car is a slow poison that would eventually kill it off some day. Asking which brand of 20W50 is more like asking what brand of poison to take. Make una leave all this story of engine smoking and all that alone. i do agree with your opinion and how more weight are being shredded off modern engines for improved efficiency which makes them less rugged. But we also cannot underestimate the fact that different car manufacturers design their engines differently hence the quality of material metals used also differs which makes some car engines more reliable than others. i believe we all have our long term experience as technicians on this subject matter based on observations on what happened with engines we ran on 20w-50(which i believe is a mineral oil) as compared to engines we ran on 5w-30 which is mostly synthetic. but in the end how long an engine last depend majorly on type of engine running under the hood, drivers usage and maintenance culture. i only recommend mobil mineral oil and regular oil change for middle class car owners who can't afford synthetic but that doesn't mean i'm not a huge fan of synthetic especially the ones shipped from US |

kola42: Good evening, gurus in the house. My gearbox (yaris 08) was leaking oil, the gear master said it was gearbox oil pump and converter. Replaced the oil pump, but he couldn't get the converter at ladipo. Can the *converter* be repaired?? Because no sign its spoilt, pls help if the gear works properly before the disassembly, i don't think there should be a problem with the converter except if he wants to replace it due to dirty transmission oil already living inside the converter which can contaminate the new oil. but if he has to reuse it he should ensure the sleeve of the support shaft that goes into the oil pump/gearbox is smooth or shiny silver and not brown (like its burnt due to overheating) |

What’s the difference between GLE43, GLE 450 and GLE450 AMG 2017/2018 models in terms of adaptability to Nigerian roads, ease of use by Nigerian owners, handling and comfortability(SUV version not the coupe). Also what can you say about the reliability as compared to GLE 350 of the same year. Differences are just in their performance options and a few difference in functions and trims. some are v6 naturally aspirated, some bi-turbos while some v8 NA and V8 bi-turbo. The lexuses are far more reliable anytime anyday, but for the same price...? i'll rather be cruising around in luxury |

Veryuglyme011: I was told brand new isn't so good that you can't return it if it doesn't work well.…so I bought direct Belgium but the pump I decided to buy a brand new one today The main components of an hydraulic steering system: the steering pump, steering rack and the high pressure hose. the pump does only one thing: to pump the fluid with high pressure into the rack, the pressure hose does only one thing which i believe you already know. Where the hydraulic operation that keeps your steering soft takes place is in the steering rack. More than 70% of the steering rack you call belgium are Nigerian used racks that were repaired and put back to shelf. So replace your steering rack with a brand new one and if you still want a belgium(with guarantee), send me an email |

My Honda CRV 2010 has a P0303 error that has refused to disappear for months. I've switched and replaced the plugs, coil and fuel injector (nozzle). Please what could be the issue so I can resolve it once and for all?
cc: kingreign, luvinhubby, jceesquare that'll be an electrical problem or an ecu malfunction. A continuity test from the ecu connectors to the ignition coil sockets should be carried out. |

Only major maintenance i had to do was radiation tank replacement as the old one was leaking and gasket replacement as it got damaged during replacement of the radiator tank So mobil 1 5w 30 it is? Any cheaper and reliable alternative please? Synthetic oil will make your engine live free of sludge. I always do recommend the US mobil 1 however there's a widespread of fake synthetic mobil 1 oils in the market so if you have to use mineral oils, be sure you reduce your oil change intervals to 2-3 months or 2000-2500km |

Sankabson: Good morning House,
I am driving a 010 Toyota Camry. But have been noticing some issue as regards the Gear. Whenever put the Gear on D ( Drive ) it delays few 10 - 15seconds before responding or shifting to drive. But respond swiftly to other Gear levels. PRN ..
But I do noticed it respond a little bit we'll in the morning, when I'm just moving. After a while it starts again.
- I have changed the Gear Fluid to make sure it's up to gauge. Still having the same issue.
- I have asked few technicians here in Ibadan, some are saying it's electrical problems and issues like that. I went to be sure before engaging anyone to avoid any error, as Gear is expensive now.
I'll appreciate your help Sires)Mas. Thanks in advance
