It's unfortunate that Nigerians have been made to believe that the objective of the Sachet ban by NAFDAC is with regards to alcoholic consumption by underage and it's relative reports. Has anyone here researched deeply to understand the core effects of this policy to Nigeria at this time? I.e. the local economy? Has anyone considered that the producers and suppliers of all critical Imputs to these sachet companies are employing Nigerians and may close shop with regards to this policy? Majority of these companies procure their production materials from local producers. Items like, Ethanol, PVT Laminate Rolls, packaging cartons, Advertorial products etc. are all sourced from Nigeria. Also, Nigerians should also know that it is the locals that get involved with intermediary sales, promotion, marketing, direct and indirect labour. Do not forget the employment chain. Because every employee has a dependent relative, that also has a relative. It is my believe that due consideration has not been given to this policy. Underage drinking cannot stop by banning a section of the product chain. If the should be a ban, all producers of Alcoholic beverages should cease to exist. It is a competitive market, thus all players must be given equal advantage. In Fact, the proximity of Beer sales outlet to our schools are more common than the accessibility to sachet because sachet sales are common in hard labour areas or corners. Also any child that can afford a sachet alcoholic beverage, can also purchase beer if they so want. Thus, the argument by NAFDAC is purely negative. It is my suggestion that NAFDAC introduce some measures like; 1. Ensuring that +18 is inscribed on the sachet. 2. Agree on marketing approach. 3. Carryout more sensitisation regarding it's concerns. In submission, I appeal that our economy is already seeing a downslide, pushing all the enterprises out is not to our advantage. Consideration should be given to these companies as this will put our country as one ready for investment. Because investors will assume that if the come here to invest, one day, a poorly thought out policy may put them out of work. |
Hello friend, all the trucks in my fleet have trackers installed. This truck is brand new, and only returned from its first trip (Usually done to confirm engine, gear and viability). Arrangements had been concluded to install same until this incident. |

In my opinion, I think all these water projects littered in every corner of several communities are complete waste of resources by funding partners. In some cases, one community enjoys more than 3 projects but these benefits are enjoyed within a very short while (3 months etc). With over 8 years in the urban and rural water sector in Nigeria, I have been opportune to administer the installations of urban and semi urban water projects and was involved in its commercial components, and I have noticed that these projects are only conduits for fraud and accumulation of failed projects. (NDDC, MPP6, World Bank, ADB) etc. I suggest that funding partners should engage more on consistent delivery of this service with State run water agencies to foster a formidable utility arm. This would curb the number of failed water projects across Nigeria. |

hodusglobal:while there is no moral justification for jungle justice, I don't wish my enemies the trauma which the residents of these environments are suffering. I witnessed daytime robberies, physical assault and harassments. My friend's phone was taken from her by these hoodlums, and they operate fearlessly. Each time I visit the area, I try not to spend more than 30mins Max. Oh my dear Calabar. |
