Business / Re: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by macdee20(m): 6:31pm On Apr 13, 2021
okay. cool.
thanks so much, man.
i think you've given me more than enough info!!!

peeps4u:
The car is as good as Corolla. Has a better interior. Its maintenance guy is cheaper than Corolla, has a good fuel economy, there are arguments it's fuel economy is even better than corolla. I hope you know Corolla is one of the most expensive in terms of maintenance among the cars in its class? Corolla parts don't come that cheap.

May be you ask wave1 more direct questions about dos and don'ts, but generally, Civic is as good as Corolla for Uber.

I dont know about 205/70/r15, buh I used 205/65/r15 on my ex-2003 Corolla (no regrets!!!)
I be like black Vin Diesel for road, dey use am enter anywhere.
Yes, u'll get higher ground clearance as well (no more under-bumper scratching).

the only thing i noticed is, if your car is at a hault position, and another car pass you with speed, your car go shake!!!
asides that, nothing else!.

Tunesh:
Hello Guys, I am thinking of changing my 2005 Corolla tyres from 195/65 r15 to 205/70 r15 or 195/70r15 or 215/65 r16
m
The aim is mainly to achieve a higher ground clearance. Is this recommended or is there a better alternative? and is it safe . Please. Current tires are bad.

Thanks for the response

Okay @peeps4u. Thanks for your reply.

Kindly note, i have no beef with Honda. Like i said earlier, i'm not just a fan of the brand generally (a personal thing), doesnt mean i hate it....plus, it's my first time using it to do a ride-hailing biz.

i just want to know the generic downsides (if any) when using the car in question. (mainly in terms of maintenance & cost)

i'm used to Corollas.

peeps4u:

You wan use Honda beef reject car? I want to believe you have other option(s)? Wetin concern you with it being Honda? as long as it is fuel efficient. If it is problematic, you drop it, simple as that
Nothing is wrong with Civic for rental. Infact, there is a rising demand for Civic 06-10 now for personal use. That car is as sexy as anything sexy

okay, thanks very much @Felicity001

my location is Abuja.

i have other side hustles i'm doing, so the driving stuff is to support.

i'm still looking out for 20K weekly

fair enough?

Felicity001:

Its a good deal with a good car just make sure the owner put the car in a good working condition. Suspension, AC, transmission and others.

The only thing is the ground clearance so you've to select places you go to, the exhaust pipe can be very very fragile that even a sand bumb can compress it, it has happened to me before at agor palace area when I was using the civic.

If you're a careful driver abd the car is still having it's factory shape n form you'll enjoy it. Again don't border to increase the wheels n tire height too much else you'll loose balance and traction on highway and bends.

Good day, @successbay. Jeez man, Apologies, i didnt come online since last year. I eventually got a Nigerian Used 2003 Corolla, buh mehnnnn, i suffffeerrrrr.

40% good story and 60% bad story.

las las, i sold the car cos of the engine (the crankshaft gave up, while i was on an Uber trip. carrying a passenger from Wuse II to Airport on a Sunday morning)

I just fixed it and sold the car to a car dealer for a low price, i couldnt sell it to another end user.

buh, the car was sweet. I really rocked it for 7 months. did a few upgrades to it (normally!), looked different in my guys' eyes.

Long story short, it was a bitter-sweet feeling at the end, buh i'm happy because i learnt a lot about cars (since it was my first ever car).

Now, i know what to do, when acquiring my next.

how have u been? @successbay

Successbay:

Good afternoon, sorry I have been away a long time and just revisiting my Nairaland page after several months..
I eventually settled for a Corolla Sports 2007 model, bought directly from the USA.

The car has been 5 years plus now and it's still serving me... Very durable car I must say... I haven't even repainted the vehicle. Sure you should have gotten your ride now.. sorry for the delay in reply...

Hello, guys. Good day.
Please, i need an honest & sincere advice.

i'm about to enter an agreement to drive for someone for 25k weekly, buh i'm not fully convinced about it.

the car in question is Honda Civic 2007.

personally, i'm not a fan of Honda. (this will be my first time driving/using it for e-hailing business)

what do you strongly advise?
thanks in anticipation.

@Successbay. It seems i'm in ur situation right now. I'm picking a car (my first ever car) very soon, and i'm still stuck with choice of Toyota Corolla - between the LE and the S (both 2005).

I've done all my research, buh still undecided. I'm going to use it in Abuja.

with ur experience so far, help me make a final conclusion. cry

P.S. I'm a Sports person, i love being versatile (having options) instead of sticking to a particular way/thing....dats why the S trim has been my default option, buh i see more of LE and i've been getting good feedback regarding it (the LE)

thanks, i'll be expecting ur reply.
