Despite its dwindling political fortunes in the North-West, the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party boasted on Tuesday that it would be impossible for the All Progressives Congress to win the 2015 Presidency. The National Publicity Secretary of the party, Chief Olisa Metuh, stated this in Kaduna on Tuesday. Metuh was at the meeting convened by the Vice President Namadi Sambo to deliberate on the lingering crisis in the party in the North-West zone. Sambo, who had practically relocated to Kaduna following the gale of defections from the PDP to the APC, met party stakeholders from Sokoto, Kano and Zamfara states at the late Gen. Hassan Katsina House, Kawo, Kaduna on Tuesday. Sources at the meeting told journalist that the stakeholders reviewed the challenges and prospects of the ruling party in the Northern states, particularly in Kano,Sokoto and Zamfara states that had been taken over by the APC. It was gathered the the tension-soaked meeting, which had in attendance former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Ghali Na'aba; son of the late Head of State, Mohammed Abacha; and other prominent party chiefs from Kano, Sokoto and Zamfara states, deliberated extensively on how to win back those states that had gone to the opposition in the 2015 elections. Metuh, who spoke to reporters at the venue of the meeting, insisted that it would be impossible for the APC to emerge as the national ruling party in 2015. The PDP spokesman, who breezed into Kaduna apparently on directives of the PDP National Secretariat to assess the political situation in Kaduna and other North-West zone, said the PDP remained the party to beat regardless of the current crisis threatening the party. http://m.naij.com/news/55516.html |

As the face-off between the former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo and the incumbent President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan heightens, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party in the South West, High Chief Abiola Ogundokun has challenged Chief Obasanjo to give proofs of the allegations leveled against the President. He said the onus lies on whoever raises such destructive and inciting allegations against anyone to prove them. "If he fails to prove all the allegations against the president, Nigerians would take him to be a liar," he said. Chief Ogundokun, who spoke with newsmen on diverse national issues, faulted the contents and the channel through which the 18-page letter was sent, said the patriotism that Chief Obasanjo "always claims leaves much to be desired by the way he made the letter public. A self-styled pastor was paraded along with 15 other suspects for allegedly printing and circulating fake naira notes. Mr. Mike Fubara, the State Director of State Security Service (SSS) in Kogi, paraded the suspects, revealed that six of them are Pastor Godson Akubuiro's children. The suspects and the seized items. Top right is Pastor Akubuiro 49-year-old Pastor Akubuiro, who was born in Imo State, is the General Overseer of The Mountain of Breakthrough Deliverance Ministry, also known as Land of Solution, located at Plot 7, Koya Estate, Igbo Olomu, Agric, Ikorodu, Lagos from where he and other suspects were arrested. The SSS boss said the investigation started four months ago due to "worrisome fake naira currency in circulation in Kogi State". The breakthrough in the operation happened when the SSS traced and arrested the 16-man syndicate led by Rev. Godson O. Akubuiro. Items recovered from the suspects include equipment and materials used in printing fake currencies, a large quantity of printed fake notes, cut to size blank currency notes and N1.3 million fake naira notes. There were also photocopier machines and different colours of oil paints. Pastor Akubuiro, admitted the crime before reporters, said he was "an ordained man of God" until the devil overwhelmed him. He further narrated that the criminal activity started in November 2012 in his house, along with his family members. Pastor Akubuiro also added he was not using the money for himself, but in support of the less-privileged and the needy in his congregation. He pleaded for leniency, saying men of God were often tempted like King David in the Bible, who though a man after God's heart, fell many times yet was pardoned by God. Let me answer your question. It's as simple as Abc. A roman god celebration usually takes place on the 25th dec. So when christianity came into existence in rome, the christians decided to wipe away the pagan celebration totally by celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ on that same day. For example If Nigeria breaks up, the Igbo decided to celebrate their own independence on Oct 1st, because if Igbo decided to celebrate it on August 5th for example. Whenever the day Oct. 1st comes, students will be saying, "oh! We supposed to be at the stadium doing matching parade now, if not because we have broken in different minute countries." So, that's it.
