Politics / Re: Cocoa Institute In Oyo Got ₦250M For Lagos Streetlights Project In 2024 - BudgIT by mach7(m): 12:06pm On Sep 12
Good information can be sometimes used for mischievous purposes.

BudgIT has provided the facts, but did not provide a good background for the facts presented.

It is a known practice for constituency projects to be embedded into the budgets of MDAs. The respective MDA is expected to contract out and oversee the implementation of the constituency project within the timeframe and voted amount as provided for in the budget.

This method was adopted to ensure that constituency allowance for projects are not paid directly to lawmakers due to issues of mismanagement and/or corruption. The lawmaker is only responsible for identifying the project needed after due consultation with his or her constituents. Lawmaker is also expected to confirm that the constituency project was carried out.

If you check the budget of different MDAs you will see voted amounts for constituency projects embedded on them. This has been the practice since the OBJ era.

Let's be guided please.

Anybody that doesn't fear Western media and their ability to spin truths into untruths and untruths into truths is still a learner.

Bild, Politico, New York Times, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, CNN, BBC, DW, AP, Reuter, AFP etc. are all generals in the nazi army of Ukraine, earnestly serving Ukrainian interests at the behest of their masters in Washington DC.

What is oga JD saying?

I seriously get worried when some of our elders speak and says things that are outrightly false.

What wasn't bad under the military? Cost of living, economy? Security? I mean some of us are not kids or teenagers that you can twist history and deceive. Can he have freedom to speak under the military the way he speaks now? The way he constantly throw shades against the president and even before he became president?

Things are tough, that is very much true and constructive criticism of government is needed to keep the government on its toes. But what he is saying is wrong, fallacious and condemnable.

Comments like these are what sets some of out youths on edge, especially those who didn't experience the military. Is he alluding that going back to the military is better?

If not for emotional sentiments and the fact that our system of governance and accountability is just lacking, for such comments, he should be politely invited to explain himself.

But alas, he is an elite and the people he is talking about are people of his elitist class. So wetin be my own.

Nice one. Let's resist illegality irrespective of the person or persons involved.

Comrade was wrongfully impeached. H.E. Governor G.O in line with the oath he swore to uphold the laws of the land should abide by the court judgement and dutifully fund the Deputy's office.

Politics / Re: Rivers Crisis: Political Gladiators Take Battle To Grassroots: by mach7(m): 7:13am On Jun 22
The governor is an ingrate.

The political fight in the garden state was never about money or about the Minister's "overbearing" influence.

It was simply a battle for the structure of the party in the state. The novice governor having ascended the throne with his godfather's blessing sought to overthrow his godfather as leader of the state.

He started this by attempting to remove the LG chairmen and replace them with CTC. He also planned to remove the legitimate speaker and install his preferred man, but the 27 lawmakers got wind of the this plot, suspended the 4 errant members and commenced the impeachment proceeding of October which the governor counteracted by instigating the burning of the House of Assembly by using his current CoS.

A lot persons know the truth and real origin of the crisis but ethnicity and desire to see the Minister fall by some pained loosers of 2023 elections is clouding minds.

**The person parading himself as speaker today and the one before him was suspended in October 2023. All actions taken are simply a nullity as they have no foundation.

**The governor doesn't have a legitimate budget and has been spending money illegitimately. I pity his commissioners who have no immunity.

**The structure he is fighting for, he will not get it. He is one-term governor.

**Those hailing him now will cry for him tomorrow.

Foreign Affairs / Re: G7 Agrees $50bn Loan For Ukraine From Russian Assets by mach7(m): 5:24pm On Jun 14
Focusmind:
The impact of this war on Russia is enormous. Russia underestimated the resolve of the West to support Ukraine. US is the undisputed superpower. As long as they are the ones printing and controlling the dollar, forget it, they will keep dolling it out to whoever they want. As long as dollar is controlling the world trade, US has upper hand in any economic or military confrontation with Russia. I am sure Putin is tired of this war but doesn't know how to end it. Russia may not get back up to 20% of their frozen assets after the war. Their own companies are suffering as they can't trade with other countries as some companies in other countries are afraid of US sanctions
The impact of this war has made Russia the world's 4th largest economy on PPP terms. The West is not supporting Ukraine, it is simply trying to destroy Russia and has seen Ukraine and its useless leadership as a willing tool for this purpose. When you talk of resolve, you need to look into the origin and fault lines of the conflict and you will see that this war for Russia is existential and they will never back down.
Finally, what is money? What is assets? The value of what Russia has in assets on its land, in its resources, in its people, is more than a million times more than what is frozen.
The USA is currently in debt of over $34trn. It is free to continue printing until the printing press finally breaks down. However, note that the ability of the US dollar to continue to dominate global trade is being curtailed gradually by BRICS which is championed by Russia and China. Russia is betting on the long game.

When the USA illegally invaded Iraq, who froze their assets?

When the USA, France and UK illegally bombed LIbya, who froze their assets?

When the USA stole Iraqi and Afghanistan gold, who froze their assets?

Let us all continue, since it is now a battle of the strong.

Afterall, the USA and its European lapdogs all have assets in Russia too nah, it is tit for tat.

Furthermore, the 20% of land with numerous minerals and industrial assets that Ukraine has lost, is lost forever.

Politics / Re: Russia Denies Coercing Nigerian Students To Fight In Ukraine by mach7(m): 1:24pm On Jun 14
The pervasive influence of western news sources in our media space is quite alarming. Of recent, Russia has been gaining ground in West and Central Africa while offering military, educational and economic cooperation across various countries on the African continent. Rarely will you see such news making it to the forefront of Nigerian news media or African news media for that matter.

Nigeria is very much in the grip of the West, our political system, economic system and infotainment are already captured.

Anyways, if you look at the country who actively seeks for mercenaries and press gangs its citizens to fight, it is Ukraine. But news media will not say so, as it is bad for business. Afterall, this conflict is simply a battle between the Russians and the West (using Ukrainian hands) for the multipolar world order. Ukraine is simply just the pawn in the middle. If Russia wins, then multipolarity wins. If the West wins, then the West remains the dominant hegemon in the world.

If you ask the average Nigerians who scream "Russia bad" on various social media or news platforms, why Russia is bad, you will be surprised that you find one credible response that isn't spoon fed from what they hear on Western news media.

May Nigeria free herself.

These are good suggestions. You can put together a proposal and share it with the Police.
malali:
Digital ID'S

1-CCTV in all Petrol station and Major areas

2-Anybody getting in a suspicious vehicle should take a picture of the car with the license plates visible. Send the pictures to a police database (Created by the police ) or to a close family members or a group chat.
That way the same car and plates cannot be used twice. Either they have to repaint the car or change the plates. Prevents the one chance kidnappers to use the same vehicle every night.

3-Better still the driver, will text the passenger with his license plates number/phone number, the intending passenger will forward the text to a trusted person. If anything happens to the passenger, the trusted person has the phone number and license plates of the driver. This takes 5 minutes. All drivers should display their numbers for passengers to crosscheck.

4-Make every commercial vehicle carry a barcode sticker. Passengers scan it with their phone before they enter. Scan is uploaded simultaneously, if the person is declared missing. I can tell you the last vehicle there were in under 5 mins.

5-You can geo-fence your phone, If you travel from gwarimpa to wuse everyday. The day you travel outside this zone to Suleja, your phone will automatically send your location texts every 5 mins to a pre-designated number till the phone dies.

There are so many cheap technology, to curb kidnap and one chance, Get a few technology inclined people together, they will come up with a solution in less than 24 hours.
Politics / Re: Bugaje: "Lagos Boys' arrogantly Misled Tinubu On Niger Crisis by mach7(m): 7:59pm On Feb 25
festacman:
One big shortcomings of this current government is its INABILITY TO PLAN, to carry out cost-benefit analysis of decisions or SWOT analysis of policies.
There is little thinking long and hard on issues. It looks it acts on knee-jerk basis before thinking. Look at these:

-- Removed fuel subsidy without plan for likely consequences.
-- Floated Naira without plan to counter likely consequences.
-- Placed sanctions against Niger before sending envoys to talk to military junta over there. No consultations or analysis of consequences.
-- Implemented post-subsidy palliatives without any plan.
-- Installed bloated government with many idle ministers and sides without thinking about the financial consequences.
-- Focusing largely on monetary and fiscal affairs without any plan to stimulate economic, boost export and earn forex.
Very much on point. I did and still do support Tinubu, but he has made some school boy errors within his first 8 months.
A good thing though, is that he does seem to retrace his steps when his errors are pointed out. So there is hope going forward.

Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin is not the vicious monster or dictator that the West always paints him to be.

But then, because of the geopolitical conflict between Russia and the West, and the fact that Nigeria is more or less under the ambit of the West, we are conditioned to more or less "hate" him. This is due to the heavy influence over our media, economy and political space.

There are a lot of trolls on NL, who are Western sponsored, to be more specific, State Department sponsored. They will come on comments on any issue about Russia or Putin and begin to spew lies and falsehood. Just watch them come out in 1, 2, 3....and go

Great one from Mr. President and Mr. Governor.

To those who are crying more than the bereaved on the Rivers situation, and to those whispering evil advice in Mr. Governor's ear, ntooorrrrr!!!!

Rivers will have peace, Nigeria will have peace.

N.B. Nonetheless, Mr. Governor should find a way to reconcile with Mr. Super Minister. Mr. Super Minister is Mr. Governor's boss and benefactor. He should not bite the hand that fed him.

Ingratitude doesn't pay, it will haunt Mr. Governor in the future if he does not repent his ways and the fake friends (in the guise of elders and tribal warlords) around him will be nowhere to be found.

There is a lot of misinformation flying about. There was no air attack in Kiev yesterday. It was all stage managed with air raid sirens to simulate an attack and make the Africans feel sympathetic to the Ukrainian cause.
The spokesman for South African President, Ramaphosa also confirmed that no attack took place.

On the other hand, I feel that African leaders shouldn't involve themselves in Europe's problems.

The conflict in Ukraine will be settled by military means and there will be only one winner. The false Jew will be expelled from power.
