Celebrities / Korede Bello: Kelly Rowland Reached Me On Skype For The Remix Of My Song by macquis(m): 3:42pm On Mar 29, 2017
Ever since I heard this news yesterday I've been laughing all through. Nigerian artists with all their lies would never stop amazing me.

Mavin record signed artiste, Korede Bello recently took everyone by surprise when the remix of his hit single ‘Do like that’ came out and it featured Kelly Rowland making everyone wonder about how the remix came about.

The singer said that his team was reached out to via Skype by Kelly Rowland saying she loved the track and would love to feature on the remix.

During the Hip TV interview with Korede, the Mavin artist said this:
‘Kelly Rowland heard the song, she loved it and you know, reached out to my team and like I love this song, and I’d love to be on the remix of it.’

josju:
I think so, I fear they wouldn't want to listen or be a friend. The few times I try to chat up they don't seem interested. And also when I get talking with some I realize there isn't any synergy and I cut off communication. My friend tells me I need come out of my shell but I find it difficult to relate with them.

Okay Brov it's either you are shy or you just shiver at the thought of rejection. Like I said in the above article it's basically a mind thing. Most folks who have such issues with girls are the not-so-good-looking guys. Truth is, it's really not about your looks. I'm not gonna ask if you are good looking or not because I've known countless not-so-good-looking guys have beautiful girls fall in love with them, regardless of their look. This guys were able to achieve such feat simply because they had a healthy self esteem and staggering confidence. You might not not know this, but girls sense weakness, low self esteem, lack of confidence in guys right from their very first conversation with these guys. And trust me, no girl wants to hook up with a guy who has a low self esteem or confidence deficiency.

So bro, reprogram your mindset to think only positive things about yourself, also build up your confidence and in no time you'll have girls chasing after you.

Nairaland / General / Ever Suffered From Inferiority Complex? Share Your Experience by macquis(m): 8:52pm On Mar 28, 2017
Not entirely sure if this thread fits this section, but I found no better place to create it.

As much as most Nigerians try to shy away from topics as this, the truth is, inferiority complex has ruined the lives of most folks and is still in the business of ruining lives, even here in Nigeria. The Western world recognizes the disease as a real threat (yes! It's really a mental disease) and does what it can to heal the minds of victims of this menace through self help lectures and articles. Nigerians on the other hand would rather turn a blind eye and make jest of individuals they can't understand, calling them weirdos, freaks or introverts (in a derogatory manner.)

Low self esteem, one of man's greatest foe, having the potential to destroy not just our hopes, vision, dreams, but our very lives has its root in Inferiority complex. Can you imagine that? It doesn't end there. Inferiority complex breeds Low self esteem, the latter also on most occasion breeds Depression. I'm certain every enlightened individual knows and understands that Depression is the worst thing that could ever happen to a human individual. As it accounts for 99℅ cause of suicide in the world today. Trust me, it's really a destructive cycle, (Inferiority complex-Low Self-esteem-Depression-Suicide.)

Below is a brief tale of how I developed my Inferiority complex and how I broke free from it.

When I was a little boy my head was elongated. My mother occasionally referred to me as egg-head, and made jest of my look. When I went to elementary school I had an inferiority complex, since my thinking was that everyone perceived me as having an egg-head. I eventually learned that the feeling was my thinking, not anyone else's.

As time progressed I had to learn to "redefine" myself; not to claim my mothers image of me as my own; they were her words, not mine.

The hope is that you can look back and gain an understanding of what created the things that hinder you from moving forward. Your answers are within. Once you understand the "why's" all that's necessary is to undo the past references and create new ones.

It ain't easy I know, but you can do it! Control your mind; don't allow it to have control over you. Walk out in boldness and strength knowing that no one is any better than you, or any less. Come to like yourself and feel comfortable with who you are. When you are content with simply being yourself in any situation, you will have peace in your heart and nothing outside of you will disturb your peace.

I really wish this thread not only gets to the front page of Nairaland, but also moves Seun and his management to create a SELF-HELP section here on Nigeria's largest forum Nairaland. Plus, If you've ever been a victim of Inferiority complex feel free to share your experience of how you reprogrammed your mindset. I further hope this thread inspires, educates and strengthens folks out there still struggling with the ailment.

Career / Dealing With A Bad Boss: Strategies For Coping by macquis(m): 2:13pm On Mar 10, 2017
A friend of mine once narrated to me a tale of a boss who drove all his employers nuts. “Pete” would start wandering the hallways at 4:30 to make sure no one left work before 5, he would give assignments but then micromanage them to death, he seemed to enjoy being in everyone’s business, and he rarely gave good performance reviews — unless somehow it reflected back on him. We referred to him as Napoleon Pete. All-in-all, Pete drove everyone in the department crazy, and little-by-little just about every member of the department left. Pete is a perfect example of the workplace axiom that job-seekers join great companies but leave because of bad bosses.

Maybe you have a boss who is a religious fanatic. Or perhaps a boss who takes all the credit for himself. Maybe your boss thinks you have no life outside work and makes you stay late everyday. Or perhaps a boss who gives out too many tasks with impossible to meet deadlines (or constantly changing deadlines). Maybe your boss is a pathological liar, has no people skills. Or perhaps the boss plays favorites.

Bad bosses — whether ogres, control freaks, jerks, micromanagers, or bumbling fools — can be found in all organizations. Pop culture loves to make fun of bad bosses, from the pointy-haired boss in the Dilbert comic strip, to the completely insipid boss from “The Office,” to the anal-compulsive and mean boss of the movie Office Space … but bad bosses are no laughing matter when you have to face him or her every working day. And, unfortunately, with the rightsizing of the last several years, there are probably more overworked and undertrained bosses than ever. It’s also possible, though, that bad bossing is just part of the organization’s corporate culture.

So, what can you do if you are working for a bad boss? This article will provide you with the tools you need to manage the situation as best you can, but remember that sometimes the only solution is transferring to a different part of the company — or switching employers.

Make sure you are doing everything right: The first solution is an honest analysis of your actions and behavior. How have you been handling yourself in your job? Have you always taken the high road, or have you resorted to occasional backstabbing, gossiping, or underperforming? If you’re human, it’s likely your bad boss has affected your performance, so try ignoring all these distractions and focus on your work to see if that changes anything. Find other sources of positive reinforcement for doing your job to the best of your abilities.

Compile a list of bad boss behaviors: The second solution is a bit more involved, but should be a cathartic experience for you. Make a list of all the things that your boss does that drive you nuts. Let the list sit for a few days and then review it again, adding or deleting activities upon further reflection. Next, rank the list from most annoying to least annoying. Pick the top two or three worst offenses and develop some suggestions for how your boss could act differently in those situations. Edit the suggestions to remove sarcasm or anger. Show the suggestions to a trusted friend who has no vested interest in the situation. Edit the suggestions again.

Once you feel comfortable that your suggestions are positive and helpful, consider scheduling a meeting with your boss to discuss. Perhaps suggest meeting outside the office for breakfast or lunch. Leave your emotions at the door, but be prepared for your boss to have an emotional reaction. It’s possible that your boss is unaware of his/her actions, and this meeting could be very positive for all involved; however, it’s also possible that the meeting will end badly.

Keep a journal of incidents: The third solution involves documenting each bad behavior of your boss in a journal. Don’t judge or write emotional reactions; simply document the facts of the situation and how the bad behavior impacted your performance — as well as others in the department. Again, this process may be enough to relieve you of the stress so that you can cope. However, at some point in the future — perhaps as you are leaving for a new job — you might consider taking the journal to a trusted colleague in human resources or even a mentor within the company.

Find a mentor with the company: If you love the company but hate the boss, another solution is to develop a mentoring relationship with a boss/supervisor in another part of the company. Mentoring is a fantastic strategy that you should consider even if you have a good boss because a mentor is someone who can help you in many ways, from offering advice to suggesting you for a promotion. And in coping with a bad boss, a mentor can be a good sounding board for you, and perhaps after you have documented all the offenses, someone who has the pull and the power to do something about your bad boss.

Don’t sacrifice your health or self-esteem: The worst thing you can do is simply to do nothing, hoping the problems will get resolved. No job, boss, or company is worth losing your health, sanity, or self-esteem. If you can’t find a way to resolve these issues and/or your boss simply will never change his/her behavior, you should immediately start working your network and begin looking for a new job — within or outside the organization. Again, if you love the company, a transfer might be the best option — but keep in mind that your boss might be as evil as to sabotage that transfer. And try not to quit before you find a new job, but again, if work just becomes too unbearable, you may need to consider quitting to save yourself.

Politics / Babatunde Fashola Reveals FG Plan To Repair 50 Bridges Nationwide. by macquis(m): 10:05am On Jan 04, 2017
Source: http://www.klannyblog.com/2017/01/minister-of-works-babatunde-fashola.html?m=1

According to Leadership Newspaper, Minister of Works, Housing and Power, Babatunde Fashola, yesterday disclosed that the Federal government plans to carry out repair works on 50 bridges nationwide within the next three years.

Fashola disclosed this while inspecting the Rehabilitation of Lagos Ring Road Bridge abutment and approach to the Third Mainland Bridge project in Lagos.

“The work we have come to inspect was awarde some years back when there was an indication o some misalignments here on the Lagos Outer Ring Road which is the beginning of what leads on to the Third Mainland Bridge itself which is ju about here. And it is being caused by erosion, sand filling and other activities. This road has moved as a result of some sub-soil displacement .

"Many of the bridges we built in the country over the last four, five decades have not been under any form of maintenance. We now have a three-year plan affecting over 50 bridges across the country for maintenance, repairs and restoration. And it is going to cost about N270 billion over three years. Our plan is to start with about N70 t N100 billion in year one; starting with the very critical ones so that they do not collapse and the we move to the less critical ones.”

Celebrities / Drake Has Got A New Crush!!! by macquis(m): 6:58am On Nov 18, 2016
Not too long after ditching his feelings for Rihanna, Drake has found himself a new crush.

It’s obvious that this dude is actually a lovesick 7th grade girl trapped in the body of a grown man. I mean, he just keeps falling in and out of love!!! Drake crushed on Rihanna, Serena Williams and a variety of NBA players. His latest crushing target happens to be 50-year-old ESPN sideline reporter and analyst Doris Burke.

Last night was Drake Night at the Toronto Raptors’ Air Canada Centre, something some people, like Golden State Warriors Kevin Durant, couldn’t muster a shit to give about. But Drake was really happy it was Drake Night, and he took the opportunity to profess his love for Doris. Drake showed up in a custom-made shirt with Doris’ picture and the words “woman crush everyday” on it. He Instragrammed a picture of Doris split-screened with a picture of himself wearing his Doris shirt. Then Drake told ESPN’s Israel Gutierrez that Doris was indeed a “stunning woman”, he further said that he loves her with all his heart, and asked her to dinner at his house live on television.
