Politics / Atiku/okowa Campaign Mocks Tinubu Over Buhari, Adamu’s Absence In APC Rally by madamgrace: 5:14pm On Nov 23, 2022
The Atiku/Okowa Presidential Campaign Organisation mocks the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, over the absence of President Muhammadu Buhari and the APC National Chairman, Sen. Abdullahi Adamu in his Presidential Rally in Warri, Delta State last Saturday.

The absence of these two key APC leaders in Asiwaju Tinubu’s first Rally after the official Flag-Off in Jos Plateau State may be confirming reports in the public space that his Presidential Campaign has already been abandoned by his Party leaders due to his inability to adequately explain his link to a narcotic trafficking case in which he forfeited a whopping sum of $460,000.

It is apparent that President Buhari and Sen. Adamu may be tactically avoiding the damage of being held responsible for parading a candidate that has failed to explain his links with narcotics drug money.

From all indications, APC leaders and Nigerians are now distancing themselves from the Tinubu/Shettima Campaign because of the blight cast by the narcotic trafficking case as well as other disgraceful indictment which the APC Presidential Candidate and his running mate, Sen. Kashim Shettima has not been able to extricate themselves from.

Already, Nigerians are expressing concerns on how President Buhari, who as a military Head of State, some 38 years ago, ordered the execution of drug couriers would be marketing a Presidential  candidate in whose account a suspected $460,000 linked to narcotic drug was forfeited.

Our Campaign counsels Asiwaju Tinubu to note the handwriting on the wall which signals that he is only surrounded by paid sycophants, flatterers and minions, who will also abandon him before the February 25, 2023 scheduled date of election.

Of course, the APC should know that there is no how Nigerians can elect individuals fingered in trafficking in narcotics, forgery, perjury, treasury-looting and other atrocious criminal activities into the very sensitive office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The Atiku/Okowa Campaign commends Nigerians for their unrelenting support for the Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar and his running mate, Sen. Ifeanyi Okowa who have shown integrity, competence and willpower to lead the charge in the mission to rescue and rebuild our nation from the misrule of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Politics / Peter Obi, Jesus Or Judas: What Lies Ahead For Labour Party By Abasifreke Odion by madamgrace: 9:32am On Nov 22, 2022
What lies ahead for Labour Party in 2023 and beyond. Right now, we are enjoying the buzz and the new found love for our party, due to the emergence of Peter Obi, as our candidate but is this for real or it's just a passing phase?

Ahead of the 2023 elections, the major contenders are the usual suspects of the representatives of the two major parties in the country APC and PDP. The unusual thing about this election is the entrance of new players in the game, we have the candidature of Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwanso throwing their weight in the running of things.

Also quite a number of people have seemed to acknowledge one of these contenders as a thriving third force that represents the will of the people. The candidature of Peter Obi has seemed to be the prayer of most Nigerians, he seems to be very different from the regular politicians, he is younger, appears to tick the boxes and seems to enjoy the goodwill of the people. But the question is, is he really who he say he is? Is he a man that can be held accountable to his words? To have an idea of who a man is and where he is going to, it would be apt to look back at where he is coming from. What have those he has learnt from and also impacted said about him? Hence, the question, is Peter Obi a Jesus or a Judas

Peter Obi first foray into the world of politics came under the tutelage of the Ikemba, Dim Odumegwu Ojukwu of APGA. Ojukwu had built and established APGA as the party of and for the Igbo interest, the party that represents the uniform interest of the Igbo man to stake their claim in the center of Nigerian Politics. This is the platform that a relatively unknown Peter Obi rode on to the seat of governance in Anambra, and despite the fact that it was not a first term that spelt success, Peter Obi still rode on the popularity of the party and Ojukwu for a second term.

In the words of Bianca Ojukwu, she said “It is simple. I maintain that Peter Obi betrayed Dim Ojukwu, and tried to destroy APGA for his own selfish interests. He has continued to undermine Ojukwu’s personality and recently, he has gone ahead to desecrate his legacy. From relative obscurity, Obi was brought into national prominence when the leader, Ojukwu, through his party APGA, offered him an opportunity and platform upon which he ran and became governor of Anambra State.

“Ojukwu sacrificed so much and labored for him to become governor. He (Ojukwu) was fiercely protective of him and helped him overcome the various challenges that confronted him. Peter Obi had a difficult first tenure and stepped on so many toes that the majority of our party faithful were adamant that he should not be nominated for a second tenure. Yet Ojukwu stood by him when it mattered most, jeopardised his health by traversing all the local governments in a rigorous campaign on his behalf and begged the people of Anambra State to grant him a last wish by returning Obi for a second term.
“This feat was achieved for the first time in Anambra State’s history on 6th February 2010. Peter Obi swore to Ojukwu, upon his honour, that he would never abandon APGA; that he would quit politics or die; rather than leave APGA, and that he would preserve this legacy as a potent voice and rallying point for Ndigbo”
She ended this with a proclamation that History would judge Obi harshly, isn't this manifested in what Mr Charles Soludo said about Peter Obi recently? Another pointer to how much his own people don't think much of his personality, is highlighted in the fact that no major or minor politician in his State has identified themselves to his cause, and over the years, not a candidate that he has endorsed or supported has ever won the Anambra elections. If your home thinks you to be not a man of your words, how do you intend on convincing others? Haven't, we all said, charity begins at home? Peter Obi, despite his promises and oath to Ojukwu, left the party that gave him the foundations, despite his oaths and promises, this is alarming because this is the same man that said “Hold me by my words”. How valuable are his words?

One would think that was the only instance and maybe he could be forgiven for being ambitious but what about his relationship with PDP and Atiku? It is well known how he said on national television that PDP as a party is the only vehicle to his ambition, he also said Atiku has been an elder brother, a boss and a leader. It’s quite ironic that he would want to leave a party that gave him national prominence and wouldn't be bothered to inform the man he calls Leader and Elder brother. The same man that fought tooth and nail, to defend his choice as the vice presidential candidate.

Not just leaving the party, he has been casting aspersions at the party, at how corrupt the leaders of the party are, a party that until May, he was an active member of. This refers to how he described APGA as a motorcycle, and PDP a vehicle to his ambition on national Tv. The same PDP and APGA he is running against, one now ask, if Peter Obi cannot stand by the words he made in public, by oaths and declarations he made.

Now, the concern is who is Peter Obi? How real are his promises? Now I am concerned, because he is the candidate of the Labour Party, let's not talk about the whole issue of how he came to the party, I am more concerned with Peter Obi and the future of Labour Party.

So far so good, there has been little to show his interest in our collective vision as a party, he hardly campaign or support, the other candidates in the party. So far, in the campaign process, he hasn't really identified with either the gubernatorial or senatorial candidates of the party. Labour Party is offering Peter Obi a platform, basically on a platter of roses, he has done little to promote the interest of the party.

Which brings the concern I have, what happens after 2023. Let assume that he wins the election, what happens? Is he going to stick with the party, despite the fact that he hasn't identified with the other candidates? Or would he decamp to a party, with a more robust representation at the legislature? What happens if he lose? Would he stick with the party and build ahead of 2027, or would he stick to being typical and leave to the next VEHICLE that will drive his ambition?

We have all seen that his words of assurance cannot count for much, so what exactly does Peter Obi want from Us, are we just a vehicle to his ambition?

Which begs the question, Is he really the Jesus, we are told he is or maybe the Judas that betrayed Jesus?

Politics / EKITI 2022: I Am Confident Of Winning Primary Election - Eleka by madamgrace: 9:40pm On Oct 13, 2021
... says 'party members welfare, governance and emancipation of Ekiti my priority.'

The candidate of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2018 Ekiti State governorship election and immediate past Deputy Governor, Professor Kolapo Olusola Eleka, has stated that he is confident of winning the forthcoming primary election to become the flag bearer of the party.

Eleka, who also reiterated his commitment to the adequate welfarism of the party members, added that the state will witness tremendous development under his leadership in PDP.

He equally noted that Ekiti people are waiting patiently for PDP to take over power in 2022.

The former University Don gave the submission while addressing the media at the PDP Secretariat in Abuja on Monday, shortly after picking his Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms to contest in the forthcoming gubernatorial primary election of the party.

The primary is billed to hold in January 2022.

Eleka, who is believed to be the leading aspirant among others, giving the overwhelming support from party faithfuls and votes he garnered from good people of the state in 2018, expressed optimism of a prosperous state under his watch if elected by the electorates.

"I sincerely appreciate leaders and other members of our party for their continuous show of support and loyalty to our course to rebuild the party and take the state from the opposition to the ruling party.

"While moving together to a new phase of our struggle to emancipate Ekiti State and its people from the status quo of insecurity, loss of jobs and poor infrastructural development since APC came to power in 2018, I assure our able youths, amiable women and patriotic leaders that their respective constituencies will be adequately represented," He stated.

Calling on PDP stakeholders to join hands with him to fly the ticket of the party in the 2022 governorship election, Eleka promised to sustain the dignity of the party and never leave it to pursue personal interest elsewhere.

"It is only when we work together that we can achieve together. We need to sustain the dignity of this party and be in power come 2022," Eleka was quoted as saying.

Speaking further, he said:" The very first job of a leader is to inspire trust. Trust is the single most essential element to our ability to deliver extraordinary results in an enduring way. Today, I am carrying out the wishes of all sons and daughters of Ekiti who have reposed trust in me because they trust in my ability to deliver the dividends of governance in an extraordinary matter"

Among the stakeholders who identified with him while picking the form were; Mr Martins, Youth Leader, Ilejemeje Local Government, Mr Ajaa Olaiya Auditor, Ise/Orun Local Government, Prof. Popoola, Chief Barrister Femi Banjo, Prince Ademola Adebayo, Pastor Adeleke Olowokere, Hon. Ayodeji Adesua and a few others.

My Greatest Regret, How Gambling Ruined Me

Dear Nairalanders, read my story which I will summarise and don't repeat my mistake.

I was not born rich but I have always been a hustler. In 2006 when I was 30, I had opportunity to travel to Latvia, from there I entered Germany where I started hustle. While in Germany I was sending money to my wife (then girlfriend), who judiciously kept them for me. I finally returned to Nigeria 2016 for my 40th birthday.

On my return, I had made over 25 million naira. My wife advised me to buy a landed property, which I initially agreed. We contacted several real estate agents including one called Landwey in Lagos. After agreeing on formalities, I refused to make the bold move to effect purchase, instead I postponed it, which was foolish of me.

I foolishly bought luxury cars, rented bigger apartment and felt like I have arrived. I invested 5 million in importation business but was duped by my most trusted friend. In 2018, I couldn't maintain my lifestyle due to the fact that I didn't had funds flowing in.

I made the greatest mistake by playing virtual games on betting shops. Within 5 months, I sold almost all my properties still playing virtual and losing.

In 2019, I finally lost everything, I relocated with my wife and 3 kids to a suburb as I couldn't pay the high rent where I was.

My Greatest Regrets:
1. Refusal to make purchase of the landed property as advised by my wife, notably that of Landwey, despite being convinced about it.

2. Living life of opulence when my resources weren't multiplying.

3. Wasting 4 years of my life playing virtual games.

Though I have forgiven myself for the wasted years, my advice to people is to use whatever that comes their way wisely.

Meanwhile, tribute to my wife for standing by me even when I failed her repeatedly
Alway listen to your wife

My Mother Died in 2016 and only 1 Thing Saved Me and My Siblings

What I am about to write about is something that has stayed on my mind for 5 years.

My Mother’s Death

My mother died in 2016 as a police officer in Lagos. We travelled all the way to Ondo state to bury her. After her burial, many of the family members promised us that we would be taken care of with my 5 siblings because our father was not available.

Aftermath

After we got back to Lagos, our family members stopped picking our calls, nobody came visiting, my sisters and brothers had to drop out of school and stopped going to school. We had to put them in a public school.

After 3 months, a friend of my mother visited us and after everything, he asked me if I knew that my mother had a land? Land? I was shocked and I inquired further and found out that my mother had land that we could sell because it has now appreciated.

Our Savior
To cut the long story short, we sold the land and ever since, I have opened a hair selling business that we are using to feed the family.

My Question

Why do parents buy land and not tell their children?

Later someone will say Nigerian women doesn't bring anything to the table.

Politics / Push For Next Inspector General Of Police Continue Amidst Unhealthy Propaganda by madamgrace: 7:32pm On Mar 29, 2021
With the 3 Months extension of the tenure of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mohammed Abubakar Adamu, indications have emerged of top Police Officers jostling to replace him at the expiration of the 3 Months extension.

The Inspector General Police was due to retire on 2nd February, 2021 but got his tenure extended for 3 Months by the appointing authority, the President.

The 3 Months extension will expire in May, 2021 when a New replacement is expected to emerge.

The new Police Act assented to by President Muhammadu Buhari in September, 2020 stipulates that a person to be appointed Inspector General of Police shall be a senior police officer not below the rank of an Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG).

It also says such a person must have an academic qualification of not less than a first degree or its equivalent in addition to professional and managerial experience.

While others have gathered sufficient experience, skills and competence needed for the job by merit, others have resort to cheap propaganda and unhealthy sentiments to get undue sympathy.

A report from dailytimes.ng dated 29th March, 2021 written by Aruga Joe Omokaro indicates that Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Moses Jutoboh from Bayelsa State, Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Dasuki Galadanchi from Kano State and Commissioner of Police (CP) in charge of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Bala Ciroma from Yobe State are eyeing the position to be possible replacement if the extension of tenure of the present IGP terminates.

As for CP Bala Ciroma, his rank by virtue of Provision of the Police Act will hinder him and he has not attended the National Institute for Policy and Strategy Studies (NIPSS) Kuru, Plateau State which is a requirement for the IGP position.

The appointment of an Inspector General of Police is at the discretion of the President and based on merit not State of origin of the officer involved.
Other existing appointments from the State of a prospective officer cannot hinder his/her appointment as IGP as long as he is competent, has the capacity and meet the requirements of the Police Act 2020.

If the next IGP is to be from the same State with a serving Service Chief, no constitutional provision is being contravened as some persons are insinuating.

The appointment of a deserving officer and the retirement of others has no effect on the actualization of the mandate of the Nigerian Police as it is being circulated by propagandists.

The President must apply wisdom considering the security challenges being witnessed in the Country and it behoves on him to make a good choice of someone who will bring both his/her operational and field experiences to bear to achieve the mandate of the Nigerian Police.

Someone who has been a DPO, Area Commander and has served in the operational department of the Police Force should be chosen to man the very sensitive security outfit.
This will make him/her ready to confront the daunting challenges considering the operational and field experience gathered over time.

Available records from research conducted have it that DIG Moses Jutoboh who is also jostling for the position has never been a Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Area Commander and lack the required operational and field experiences to carryout the duties of the office of an IGP creditably well.

The President should be cautious in his choice of the New IGP and ensure that someone with operational and field experiences, good moral standing and capacity is appointed as the next IGP since he reserves the exclusive power to do so in conjunction with the Police Service Commission.

Sentiments should not be attached but the appointment should be based on meritocracy not mediocrity or sentiments being fronted by certain persons.

A patriotic officer who can deliver should be appointed the IGP upon the expiration of the extended tenure of the present IGP.

The President should not be cowed into appointing an Officer without the needed operational and field experiences as IGP.

He should as much as possible avoid those propagating hate, divisiveness, disaffection, disunity and other primordial sentiments in his choice for a possible replacement of the present IGP.

Politics / Osinbajo's Friends, Associates Announce Empowerment Programme In His Honor by madamgrace: 8:03pm On Mar 08, 2021
Over the years, friends and associates have come together to reflect upon the sterling qualities that define Vice President Yemi Osinbajo’s personal and leadership style and have for his traditionally low-key birthday celebration chosen to support social impact causes that are close to his heart.

It will be recalled that as part of the events lined up for Prof Osinbajo’s birthday last year, 100 young entrepreneurs received business-defining grants of N1 million each that helped grow and advance their businesses, among other incubator support services from close friends and associates of ‘Prof’ as he is fondly called under the auspices of ‘The March 8th Initiative”.

These “Friends of Prof’ conceptualized ‘The March 8th Initiative” to inspire and promote communal, entrepreneurial and public-spirited endeavours within Nigeria in honour of his birthday.

In a statement, the Group which organizes the annual March 8th Initiative stated that for this year’s celebration, the Initiative is expanding its reach and scope with a view to imparting a broader spectrum of Nigerians.

First, the Annual Entrepreneurship Development Programme has been reorganized into four categories providing more opportunities for young Nigerians between 18 and 35 years old, giving one-off business grants, ranging from N100,000 to N1,000,000 to small businesses in Nigeria. The four categories cover varying stages of small business growth as follows: Big Idea Business Challenge, Business Support Challenge, Catalyst Support Challenge and the Bold Innovation Challenge.

Secondly, in addition to the Entrepreneurship Development Programme, the March 8th Initiative will recognize health workers nationwide who, in the face of a global pandemic, demonstrated exemplary courage, compassion, diligence, hard work and professionalism in carrying out their duties. Individuals are requested to nominate any health worker who has shown these qualities for a reward of N1 Million under a Health Grant Reward Category that acknowledges their invaluable service to our communities.

Additionally, the March 8th Initiative is undertaking a nationwide Ophthalmological intervention to provide succour in the form of surgeries and other therapeutic care for cataracts and other eye defects.

The Group stated that entries will open at 12.00 a.m on Monday, the 8th of March, 2021 and close at 11:59 p.m on Sunday, the 14th of March, 2021. All entries except those for “My Big Idea Business Challenge” must be submitted at www.march8th.ng

Nigerians have been consequently implored to visit the website to nominate the deserving health worker of their choice, as well as to apply for any of the grant categories that is applicable to them.

I wonder what would make someone compare both phones. Though Vision 1 is a good phone, it can't compare to p36 pro

PRYCE:

Post was made since June though but for the sake of those with same dilemma currently,

The vision though more affordable, I'll advise you go for the i-tel P36 pro LTE, cos it has 5000mAh as compared to 4000mAh for the i-tel Vision. And a better Camera setup.

All other specs are fairly identical.

God bless you. I don't understand the hate for itel..by a few persons that think they are tech intellectuals. I don't know what gives them the guts to think that they can dictate to people the phones to buy with their own money.

Meanwhile, the brand is growing despite the hatred by the children of anger

Phones / Re: How Transsion Holdings Has Eaten Deep Into The African Society. by madamgrace: 1:15am On Nov 08, 2020
So you mean someone is gullible for having preference? If not for transcion phones how many people would be using Android phones in Nigeria? Currently, itel... is blazing, I could easily use 30k to buy s16 (quality phone), but can I use same amount to buy non transcion brands? Pls stop sermonising us. Minimum wage is still 30k
