Leaving me wet and spent in ecstasy’s prison – so enthralling.

To whom or what shall I ever dare liken you, my Maple tree?
To others, falling as one, like us – or to others that fall apart below par?
To the sun, the moon, the stars – or to all galaxy-orbiting three?
No, my diamond diadem; by all, you stand head above the highest bar.

Please I need the advice of an expert on the protection of intellectual property.

An online news/entertainment/ebook publishing platform sent me an email early last year, indicating interest in publishing one my books on their platform. They had seen the book on Amazon Kindle and decided they wanted it on their own platform.

Since I wasn't familiar with the platform, I decided to do my due diligence first, before committing to anything.

It's a Nigerian-owned online platform, headquartered in Lagos.

Convinced they were legit, I agreed to their request. A non exclusive agreement was reached. One of the things we agreed on was that I would be given a dashboard, which would enable me monitor the progress of the book.

I sent a PDF version of my book to them to put on their platform.

A few months later, I was yet be given access to my dashboard. I sent them an email, complaining about this. They apologised, said they were still working on the dashboard, but in the meantime they would send monthly reports of the progress (sales) of my book.

A couple of months went by, and I got no single report. I complained again. They apologised again, stated they were still working on the dashboard, and promised to send the next month's sales report.

When I saw the report they sent, I wasn't impressed with book's performance on their platform.

Unhappy at this, the lack of dashboard to monitor my book's performance, and the rather poor customer/client care relations (their response time is not here), I requested that they remove my book from their platform.

A day or two later I was informed that my book had been taken down as requested. I confirmed this to be true.

But just today, as I was browsing the internet, something prompted me to Google the title of the book in question.

I did...only to discover that a book I worked so hard on is now available for FREE download online...

A portion of the prefix of the link address shows that this online platform is responsible for this occurrence...

I never signed any exclusive agreement with them and they never bought the rights to the book...

I'm astonished at the current situation...I don't know what next to do...

Hence my appeal for help from someone who is familiar with things like this...

How do I proceed? What do I do?

Heaven knows how many copies of the book have been downloaded...
