Islam › Re: Bandits: Wait, How Can They Be Muslims? by Major7: 1:10pm On Jun 12 |
Lukgaf: One accusation frequently made in Nigeria is that bandits are Muslims and that what they do represents Islam.
But I ask: How can they be Muslims?
I have seen in many videos that some of them rely on charms and juju so that bullets will not penetrate them which is considered Shirk in Islam.
Allah says:
"Indeed, Allah does not forgive associating partners with Him, but He forgives what is less than that for whom He wills." (Qur'an 4:48)
How can they be Muslims?
Many of them consume hard drugs and intoxicants.
Yet the Prophet ﷺ taught that every intoxicant is forbidden.
How can they be Muslims?
Some of them kill innocent people indiscriminately.
Yet Allah says:
"Whoever kills a believer intentionally, his recompense is Hell, wherein he will abide eternally, and Allah's wrath and curse are upon him, and He has prepared for him a great punishment." (Qur'an 4:93)
And the Prophet ﷺ said:
"The destruction of the whole world is lighter in the sight of Allah than the unlawful killing of a Muslim."
How can they be Muslims?
Some of them commit zina and violate the honour of women in captivity.
When Allah has prescribed severe punishment for fornication and adultery, how can those who perpetrate such acts claim to represent Islam?
How can they be Muslims?
Some steal wealth, extort ransom, rustle cattle, and spread fear throughout society.
Yet Allah says:
"The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger and strive to spread corruption on earth is that they be executed, or crucified, or have their hands and feet cut off on opposite sides, or be exiled from the land." (Qur'an 5:33)
How can they be Muslims?
Some attack mosques and kill Muslims themselves. They have kidnapped Islamic scholars and ordinary Muslims alike. They have burnt villages, displaced families, and left many children orphaned.
How then can they be said to be preaching Islam?
No religion should be judged by the actions of those who violate its teachings. If a Christian commits armed robbery, we do not say Christianity teaches robbery. Likewise, Islam should not be judged by people who openly rebel against its commandments.
Islam stands for peace, justice, mercy, and security. These criminals represent only themselves and their evil desires.
May Allah protect our land from their evil, guide those among them who can still be guided, and bring swift justice upon those who persist in corruption and bloodshed.
Āmīn. They're forbidden to kill a believer but permitted to kill an unbeliever right since an unbeliever is an animal and not human right, they're not Muslim but shouts allahu akbar whenever they slaughter and test their charms with guns? Your brain needs to be put a factory reset mode. What religion promote violence in this advance age with lots of exposure? Human life matters and irrespective of ones beliefs,we need to show to one another no matter the color cos we all belong to the same race,a human race. |

Mattswaggz: There is hardly anywhere you won't be tempted or pushed to the wall as a human being...how you react is what differentiate sane from insanity, civil from uncivil.....the teacher should simply report to the school authorities or check the if there are methods in place to handle such misbehaviors....if the outcome of reporting to the authorities or the methods put in place doesn't satisfy the teacher then he/she can consider resigning.....if this was a saner clime, this kind of actions can get the teacher to jail. You're right 👍 |

Mattswaggz: I am never against discipline as well but call a spade a spade....the teacher is wrong in this case and the mother has every right to react in annoyance.....and supporting extra judicial justice system no matter how small it is or because it favors you is part of the reason why the country is the way it is today.....it is why a police officer can threaten to kpai someone and say nothing will happen.....it is why someone innocent can be keeled by a mob on mere accusations etc. I'm not supporting the teacher cutting the hair but some parents loves to tempt their resolve. Why would a parent for instance plait a boy child hair to school, use an expensive pendant on him to school and the likes and even hold the teacher responsible if the pendant goes missing? My uncle once did this nonsense but I told him he's wrong. My mom wasn't just a teacher but an H.M as well,we saw shege growing up and as a child,I wish she was dead but the old witch lives on 😁. I grew up to realize she's a blessing to me and my siblings. Discipline pays off eventually and it's a blessing in disguise. |

Gbadugbakun: No teacher has the right to barb the hair of a child without the consent of the parents. If you try that with my child you're going to jail because I'll pay influencers to drag you and the school on social media and say that you use children's hair for rituals that's why you barb them without their parents consent.
Then I'll have the teacher arrested for rituals, she'll be remanded in jail while investigations go on. God help you if my child falls sick during that period, your own don be.
Just focus on your teaching and leave the kids alone. Home school your children if you don't want them to be disciplined. It's not just about teaching in class room alone but discipline is the other side of the coin of teaching,it can't be separated. It help the society to be a better place. brain54: Atiku’s presidency will be synonymous to a Fulani presidency even as Bola Tinubu’s presidency is synonymous to a Yoruba presidency and the Yorubas are proud of him no doubt...
If I'm getting what this dude is saying clearly. Is that atiku's government would be tribalistic and nepotistic. This I beg to disagree on as atiku is the least tribalistic of all the candidates contesting the position at the moment.
His records are there and the evidence clear. They are a lot of things you can accuse atiku of but being a bigot is not one of them.
Secondly, atiku's followers are not toxic and as insultive as the other two major contenders. ( you know who)
Sometimes I feel atiku's supporters are too calm as they hardly react negatively with threats and violence especially the way other supporters do. Atiku's criticism often are also objective and on point! Of course he's tribalistic, and that explains why he deleted his post during the killing of Deborah in sokoto when his tribesmen started insulting him for trying to go against them. He lost my respect ever since |

Romance › Re: He Cancelled The Wedding Because I Missed His Father's Funeral… by Major7: 9:11am On Jun 07 |
AdisGlobal01: SHE_NEEDS_YOUR_ADVICE
My wedding was scheduled for March this year, but everything changed after my fiancé's father passed away unexpectedly in November.
His funeral was held just three weeks later, in December. I genuinely wanted to attend, but there was one major problem: my employer had a strict policy against granting leave during the December holiday period. When I accepted the job, this condition was clearly stated. Despite explaining my situation and pleading for an exception, my request was denied.
I informed my fiancé immediately. At first, he appeared understanding. I even contributed financially to support the funeral arrangements.
Then his mother called.
She told me that if I truly wanted to become part of their family, I had to be physically present at her husband's funeral. I tried explaining my circumstances, but she ended the call before I could finish.
When I called my fiancé afterward, I expected him to stand by me. Instead, he asked:
"If it were your own father, wouldn't you find a way to attend?"
I explained that the situations were different because my employer might make an exception if it were my immediate family member.
That was when he dropped the bombshell:
"No presence. No wedding."
I thought grief was speaking. I thought time would calm him down.
I was wrong.
The wedding was officially cancelled.
My family tried everything to reconcile the situation, but his family refused every attempt. Eventually, my father advised me to accept the loss and move forward with my life.
It broke me, but I did.
Months passed.
Then, on May 20th, my ex-fiancé called me.
What he said left me speechless.
According to him, I had failed the test of being a good wife because I stopped trying to convince his family after the wedding was cancelled. He said a "real wife" would have kept begging until she was accepted.
Then he announced that he had "forgiven" me.
Not only that, he had already chosen a new wedding date in August and expected me to start preparing immediately.
As if the breakup had never happened.
As if my feelings didn't matter.
As if he alone had the authority to decide when a relationship ends—and when it resumes.
Without hesitation, I told him I was no longer interested.
His response shocked me even more.
He said:
"I'm not done. You don't have the right to be done."
I blocked his number immediately.
But that wasn't the end.
A few days later, he appeared at my father's house carrying the bride price and all the marriage items he had previously rejected.
My father told him clearly:
"My daughter has moved on. As far as this family is concerned, she is no longer available."
Still, he refused to accept it.
Since then, he and his mother have continued calling, visiting, and pressuring both me and my family despite my repeated refusal.
Now I'm beginning to wonder:
Is this really about love, or is there something deeper behind their sudden determination?
What troubles me most is the mindset that someone can cancel a wedding, disappear for months, return when it suits them, and expect another person to simply obey.
I am now considering legal action because the constant calls, visits, and refusal to respect my decision are becoming disturbing.
My question is:
If someone ends a relationship, then later decides to "forgive" you and resume the wedding without your consent, would you see that as love... or as a dangerous sense of entitlement?
What would you do if you were in my shoes? Life is more spiritual than we all know,I can assure you that they've been to places to find out things about you, things they don't know before and that triggers the desperation. It happened to me once and the girl's grandma later voiced out when I refused their plea for months that they were told she shouldn't ignore me for my present status, else she will regret it,begs me and I won't listen no matter how much they plead. So run for your dear life and don't be trapped, the mom won't let you enjoy your marriage and if you ignore my warning,it will bite you. Happy Sunday |

emkz: Fulani leaders should do well to report anyone pretending to be their own.
Every community has leaders of different settlers. Once a settler join, he should report to the community head who can identify him. If a member of a community commits a crime, the leader of that community should be held accountable. That way, someone is responsible for someone under his association.
Fulanis may have been unfairly stereotyped. Many kidnappers and terrorists are local gangs and even some people from outside Nigeria are recruited. Evans was doing lucrative kidnap business in Lagos charging in dollars. Did anyone know? Let everyone report new faces to Baales and local leaders so they can be properly profiled. Anyone caught kidnapping should be put on trial and if found guilty, executed. Keep on spewing trash until it get to your doorstep, evans of how many years ago I ask you? Let them call out their own wen they're into wrong doings. That's one fascinating thing about the yoruba tribe, thry won't cover you but will point to your family house giving full details when you commit any crime but these ones will just keep mute when it's their own or religion person and be crying foul when the consequences comes. Other are already contributing too on the thread below What Practical Steps Should Southwest States Take Against Banditry and Terrorism? https://www.nairaland.com/8685199/what-practical-steps-should-southwest
Please, make your suggestion also on that thread. An authorised person may be reading this too and your contributions will be of help
For me
1. Establish a Comprehensive Resident Identity System
The Each State Government should develop a comprehensive resident identity and address verification system to improve security, planning, and service delivery. Every resident should be encouraged to register through a centralized database linked to verified residential addresses. This system will assist law enforcement agencies in identifying criminal elements, tracking suspicious activities, and improving emergency response capabilities while respecting constitutional rights and privacy protections.
2. Registration and Regulation of Herders
All herders operating within Each State should be required to register with the State Government and the relevant Local Government Authorities before engaging in grazing or livestock activities. Registration should include biometric identification, location of operation, livestock records, and compliance with state regulations. This measure will promote accountability, reduce farmer-herder conflicts, and help security agencies identify unauthorized or suspicious activities.
3. Monitoring and Prevention of Violent Extremism
The government should strengthen collaboration between security agencies, community leaders, and religious organizations to identify and prevent violent extremism. Authorities should monitor and investigate individuals or organizations suspected of supporting terrorism, radicalization, or violent activities, regardless of religious affiliation. Any person found to be promoting or financing terrorism should face prosecution in accordance with Nigerian law.
4. Promote Agricultural Self-Sufficiency
Each Southwest State should invest heavily in agriculture to enhance food security and create employment opportunities. Government support should include access to improved seedlings, mechanized farming, irrigation systems, agricultural training, storage facilities, and access to markets. Increased agricultural productivity will reduce economic vulnerabilities and strengthen rural communities.
5. Develop a Community and Neighbourhood Intelligence Network
A structured neighbourhood intelligence network should be established across communities in each state State. Residents, community leaders, traditional institutions, and security agencies should work together to identify emerging security threats and share relevant information. Such a system should operate within legal frameworks and emphasize the protection of citizens' rights.
6. Eliminate Illegal Settlements in Deep Forest Areas
The government should conduct a comprehensive survey of forest reserves and remote settlements. Unauthorized settlements established in deep forests, particularly those linked to criminal activities, should be dismantled through lawful procedures. Forest reserves should be regularly monitored and patrolled to prevent their use as safe havens for kidnappers, bandits, terrorists, and other criminal groups.
7. Swift Prosecution of Serious Crimes
The State Government should strengthen collaboration with the judiciary and security agencies to ensure the swift investigation and prosecution of kidnapping, terrorism, banditry, illegal arms trafficking, and organized crime. Fast-track procedures should be considered for cases involving serious threats to public safety while ensuring due process and fair trials.
8. Establish Formal Reporting Channels for Suspicious Activities
Multiple reporting channels should be created to enable citizens to report suspicious activities safely and confidentially. These channels may include dedicated hotlines, mobile applications, community liaison officers, and local security committees. Public awareness campaigns should educate citizens on how and when to report security concerns.
9. Promote Civic Education and Constitutional Values
Schools across each State should strengthen civic education programs that teach constitutional rights, responsibilities of citizenship, peaceful coexistence, tolerance, and respect for the rule of law. Young people should be equipped with the knowledge and values necessary to contribute positively to society and resist extremist influences.
10. Prosecute Incitement to Violence
The government should adopt a zero-tolerance approach toward incitement to violence, hatred, terrorism, or public disorder. Individuals who promote violence through public speeches, religious gatherings, traditional institutions, political platforms, social media, or any other means should be investigated and prosecuted according to the law, regardless of their status or background.
11. Expand Vocational and Technical Education
Each State should significantly expand vocational and technical education opportunities to equip young people with practical skills for employment and entrepreneurship. Training programs should focus on modern agriculture, information technology, construction, renewable energy, manufacturing, and other high-demand sectors. Empowering youth economically will reduce vulnerability to recruitment by criminal organizations and extremist groups.
Write your suggestions in the comment section on the thread: https://www.nairaland.com/8685199/what-practical-steps-should-southwest Putting anyone through physical and emotional stress after NIN and BVN doesn't make any literal sense.
