@sawyersam

Ur gonna have to do the search for Urslf. There are lots of schools ur going to have to closely examine. But if ur intentions are to migrate after studies you should make sure the course is in line with skill shortages in Australia. Also I believe choosing a school in a regional area will also pay ur government in the long run.

No standardized test. Just ielts

@Malkinburg,

I didnt involve my bank friends I'm concealing my plans from alot of ppl. lol
U didnt get me right, I dont doubt u. I later learnt d transfer officer wasnt really verse with d procedure. As I pointed out earlier, she sent the docs to the head qrts she didnt do the transfer herself. also, my a/c wasnt over credited, I had to pay in extra money for the transaction to be completed else it will be cancelled. I queried on why the USD conversion was done @ 163 since CBN rate was 155 then & her response was that they bought at 155 & cant sell at same price.
n'way, I guess GTB operates differently from FBN. I will enquire abt it from Zenith.
Thanks

Ayah sorry about that. They tried to pull the same stunt with me by telling me my account wasn't properly funded but I let them know I know wassup so they behaved themselves. Anyhow sha I wish u all the best. All our plans go pure by Gods grace.

@Malkinburg,
Regarding ur comment on payment with FORM A,which bank did the bidding for u? I paid for my fees & OSHC via FORM A with First Bank and there was nothing like that. The lady at the transfer section told me my transaction wld be done @148 per AUD when the exchange rate then was 155 & I was excited. But when the debit alert on my a/c came, I saw the transaction was done in USD @ 163. I contacted her, & I was told the bank cldnt convert directly to AUD at the time. it had to go from NAIRA -USD then to AUD.
P.S the transaction was done at the bank's head quarters, the lady just gathers the documents & send.

Hello cherries. Am sure of what I said earlier. I cud forward the swift copy of my telegraphic transfer and u will see for yourself. I also worked in a bank and I am well aware of their gimmicks. That's why I warned earlier that u must insist they bid on ur behalf. Ur entitled to that. By the way ur transfer was done at the prevailing interbank rate not CBN rate.

*the truth is when u walk into the banking hall as a jjc and say u want to buy dollar for school fees the bank will do its best to sell at interbank rate for u just so dey pocket the spread of 4 or 5 naira. Question is Why will they buy for themselves at CBN and sell to u at the same rate Lemme guess u over funded your account and the officer at the funds transfer desk just did it @ whatever bloody rate he/she felt. Then next thing they hit u with the alert. Trick is to fund the exact amount so that doesn't happen.

Yes banks don't convert to aud. They cant. They can also send the equivalent of the aud in USD to the school. What i meant was at the end of the day, when the school receives the USD. You will have achieved a conversion rate of 138 to 140. If u still don't believe me ask ur banking friends when u have bought them beer they will sing this same song.

I used gtbank. But I believe all other commercial banks can bid for dolls from CBN be it FORM A (invisible transactions) or FORM M (visible transactions)

I hope this helps

shocked embarassed cry wow that's bad tho... But I guess it's the companies procedure. But in my case right now is there still hope? Why would the guy call me and tell me he thinks I've applied to some other country before?

The question is why is he lead to believe that u have applied to another country Even if u have, the form asks if u have been refused on character grounds. I really don't think its a problem persay. Its good u stood ur ground. E no dey good to change story. It affects credibility. Just hang in there. If u haven't applied to another. Country u shud not be worried as he will have to display evidence to the team lead to discredit u. Either the guy just no like ur name or I'm smoke blaze. Anyhow sha u no get shakings.

E go pure just relax. The house will be waiting for ur testimony.

I'm a little confused and scared tho. Pls has anyone experienced this before?..

I forgot to add just on school fees alone. If u are paying plus OSHC u cud save about a 100k. Meanwhile just so am clear, you save cost because u end up buying the dollar for about 156.5 to 157 if u win the bid instead of 162 at interbank rate, 169,170 black market or at 172, the rate at which equilibrium paid. In the end u will probably end up with the exchange rate of 138 to 140 naira to aud. Make una shine eye

hmmmm
gtb
I had a very bad experience with them.
I used them to pay my fees via my atm card, they charged me 172naira to an aussie dollar, when the intl rate for that day was 150 to a dollar.
is it a good idea therefore to come with a gtb card?
Cos I was thinking going for some other bank, you can imagine paying 200k over the expected amount on the day I paid my fees.

Sorry about that equilibrum. Ne-wayz for anyone else on the forum that wants to pay school fees. I advice that u instruct your account officer to bid directly from CBN for you, by using what is called FORM A. Make sure they don't use interbank rate because they will definitely try to do that if u don't insist they bid. Bidding is on Mondays and Wednesday. After u win the bid u give them the transfer instruction for the account they should credit in oz. I personally saved close to 80k instead of loosing money using this method. Pls avoid using your ATM card. Its a total rip off, as MasterCard rates and commissions are different to our rates.

If u don't quite get the process u could pm me.

Cheers everyone.

If u had read the post just before mine you will see that indeed u have been quite confusing. are you 27, have two kids and want to migrate, or ur an adult with two kids with three different ages 27, 25, 23 Who want to migrate to oz! @Jenny, there were some changes to the financial requirements for AL3 applicants as proposed by the Knight's review of 2013

Please see here for this changes: http://www.immi.gov.au/students/student-visa-assessment-simplified.htm

See full text of the Knight's Review here (especially Section/Chapter 8 page 27); http://www.immi.gov.au/students/_pdf/review-student-visa-assessment-level-framework-2013.pdf

All student visa applications made after March 22, 2014 are only required to show proof of enough funds for the first twelve months (one yr) as against the previous 18 months. However, this proof of funds will now have to be provided by the applicant or a close relative.

How about if ur for SVP And u fall into the wrong hands, ie ur case officer still decides that he wants to see a bank statement. Who in this case can be a sponsor?? Does it have to be a close relative as well as in Al3??

lovelydamsel: equlibrium thank you,I was able to submit my school form today.the course starts in feb 2015.please do you how long it takes to apply for student visa.I have not written ielts exams yet.'M a learner lol please

If ur course is for SVP it could take anything between 2 to 5 weeks depending on weda u do medicals before submitting or u waiting for ur co to ask you to do soo after lodging ur visa application. oda factors may affect it too depending on when u apply. My 2 cents; Just fire down ur application as soon as u get ur coe.

FutureDon: Based on my limited knowledge, a prospective student can NOT lodge an ONLINE application more than 124days ahead of program commencement date stated on the offer letter. However, students lodging paper applications can do so at anytime. Since Nigerians submit paper applications, I would expect that one can apply for a student visa (SVP inclusive) whenever s/he so desires. In other words, a prospective student from Nigeria can apply as soon as s/he receives a CoE.

Thanks for the further clarification. Went online to be certain and it turns out that only online applications are subject to the 124 day rule. Ne-wayz I intend to chill till its four months to the start of my program before I apply. This is the link I came across that validates ur statement for the benefit of everyone else.

Thanks once again for correcting me.

buildermaryjane: Hello dears..please help me out...I had applied for masters program and was routed to BCIE agent to complete my application. Has anyone pass through the same? Please share requirements from BCIE hope SOA wasn't required. ..please your candid advise would be appreciated.

Yea had the same experience. Paid online 2weeks later they said I should go meet their agent. SOA wasn't required once ur SVP. Just that u will have to sign a declaration that u have capacity to honour ur financial requirements once in oz. Just do what u have to do to get ur offer letter. Once u have it ur done with any ensuing drama from the agents.

Thanks a lot FutureDon. I almost forgot about my statement of purpose. I would speak to my agent about the SVP declaration form as it was not attached to my offer letter. All i got was an acceptance form and an acceptance checklist for AL3$4 and i am certain that Deakin Uni is under SVP. Is there anything else you think i should add

I made all necessary inquiries and that's why i was prepared to show a statement of account with $30k+ just to receive a CoE. But i didnt think i would be asked to show a statement with $60k (balance of school fees + $18k) to apply for visa when my school is under SVP.

Is anyone currently about to or has just started processing his/her student visa 573 to AU on his/her own? Lets work together.

Nice to see collaboration. I finally made picked one of my offers. Am going to gtbank today to submit the "Form A" which is for invisible transactions. I intend for my account officer to bid for dollars from cbn on my behalf. I hope to get it at about 157 or 157.5 if it doesn't go higher this week. I also worked with Bcie and they are trying to shove the whole bring bank statement thingie down my throat. This thread has given me comfort with the numerous individuals who applied without bank statement. I am not going to submit those extra financial documents when I apply. One more thing u should take note u can't apply for student visa until 104 days to your program. So u have to chill till somewhere in Oct if ur going in Feb like me. Cheers peeps.
