FoodLock Down: How To Go Through It by mamachops(op): 8:41pm On Apr 18, 2020
We really don't know how far this will go.
Staying home, working from home and all is not enough.
While some food products are not available in the market, the ones available are expensive.
This is time to plan and strategize for survival.

Whether there is palliative or not, here are a few tips to help.

1. If you don't have children, learn to cut down your ration and number of meals per day.
2. Spend only on your needs not wants... A piece of meat or without won't hurt.
3. For those that can afford to stuck up, buy more non perishables to avoid waste.
4. Don't depend on Nigerian light for, your meats and fish..smoke them and dry under the sun to last long.
5. Some vegetables like bitter leaf, scent leaf, can be stored dry for soups and sauces, do that.
6. Eggs are cheaper, nutrient packed and can last longer at room temperature, especially good for kids.
7. Engage your family to keep them busy (learn, read, do challenges, play, movies, pray), boredom increases craving for food.
8. Limit leftovers if your family can't tolerate it to reduces wastes....
9. Feel free to share with people around you... You never know who needs help...
10. Plan and develop other income sources that will help you to spring back after the pandemic.
11. Speak up if you need help, don't die in silence.

Kindly add to the list please, anything that will help us survive this period.

Stay safe..... Stay at home.... Stay healthy...

WEDDING PLANNING MADE EASY BY CHOPSITY
Often times about to wed couples are caught in the web of anxiety after the guy has gone on one knee to say the expected “….will you marry me?”. While this might seem like a regular event, know that it is your very special one and must be unique and to your taste.
Here are simple things you need to consider in planning or working with your planner for your BIG day.
DATE: This is very important and must be considered first bearing in mind other stakeholders that must play important role on that day. From your folks, to the minister and not forgetting your boss. Yes ooo! They are very important and you need their support if you don’t want to kiss your job good bye as you kiss your bride, they are equally important. You don’t plan to fix your wedding date same day you are scheduled to pitch that Million dollar contract presentation, do you? Don’t forget that this refers to both date and time of the event.

YOUR COLORS: Now you guys are together on this. This is the time you get to express how much you know and accept each other. No need for arguments just match your best colors together or let your planner guide you through this.

THE VENUE: First of all what kind of event do you have in mind for your wedding? A glamorous event for all and sundry or a strictly by invitation event or better still just a family affairs. Do you want to rent the space or use your premises? Do you want an open air, or use tent or you prefer a hall? What is the expected guest count as this will help guide your choice of space capacity and facilities such as chairs, tables, lighting, tent size etc.

WHERE THE WEDDING WILL HOLD: Ok, so…what kind of wedding are you planning for – traditional, court, mosque, church or a combination of any? This sets your mind on how to approach the rest of the plan. The reception venue should be as close as possible to this venue, you don’t want to send your guest on a City tour. Lol. It is important to note where the actual nuptial will take place.

YOUR WEDDING ATTIRE: this includes your clothes, shoes, accessories, and most importantly – the rings! Even if it’s a closed or secret wedding, you will love to have a memorable image of the day…. So dress your best. I didn’t say break the bank please! Lol. Also make sure the attire meets the dress code of the institution that will wed you. No embarrassment on you day.

INSTITUTIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Take note of major requirements that may be needed by the institution that will wed you. For the traditional wedding, note the customary requirements based on the list the bride’s family has provided. Does the institution require you to write your marriage vows? Do you need to show blood tests and other medical reports? Do you need to apply for marriage license? Endeavor to find out all the necessary things you need to avoid problem.

VENDORS: who are the vendors you want to use for your event? Are you going to contact them personally or you have a planner on it? Consider the following important vendors

The printer for your IV, souvenirs, event program etc
The designer for your clothes
The baker for your cakes, if different from the caterer.
The caterer for the food, small chops etc.
The drink supplier for all drinks, cocktail and water (if not handled by the caterer)
The MC, DJ and live band for entertainment.
The interior décor for venue and car decoration.
The make-up artist for your beauty therapy.
The car you will use to and from the venue on that day (if you are renting)
The providers for all hiring services like chairs and tables etc.
The photographer and videographer, you don’t want to loose this memorable day to history.

TRANSPORTATION/LODGING: are you in charge of your guest’s transportation for those coming from the village or family members coming from outside town? You need sort out the necessary logistics here including their lodging. Will they rest in your house, family house, a friend’s place, or a hotel? Also consider the vendor’s accommodation if they are coming from outside town, you don’t want to take chances.

SOUVENIRS: How do you want to appreciate your guests? As much as this is important, do not empty your pocket on it. I love Nigerian weddings because they are generous givers, lol. Actually, Chopsity will encourage you to get your well-wishers to support you on this.

FUNDING: the last but most important of all. Well this comes in now that all the choices have been considered. To finally nail it, you must check that they fit into your budget or you might have to adjust the choice you made. It is important to know your total budget and its source. Do not delve into things randomly and avoid unnecessary debts. At Chopsity, we believe that it is a shame to make your guests happy and return home sad. It is your day, if anyone deserves happiness, it is YOU! Go ahead and be selfish please, because no matter what you do, gossip blogs will not rest on your matter. How do you intend to raise fund – personal savings, family, sales of aso-ebi, committee of friends, or loan (I don’t advice this though). Don’t forget to reserve enough for your honeymoon oooo.

Now that everything seems under control, go ahead with the IVs and get it rolling. If you want to involve large crowd then utilize social media to announce the event, but be prepared to welcome gate crashers. If not, please stay clear of the social media and post just the ‘after pix’ for your fans. Select your aso-ebi and bridal train, and instruct them on your style. Make necessary commitment by issuing part payment agreement to your vendors and let the shopping begin.

Enjoy the excitement of the whole process but don’t get worked up. In case you desire the services of a planner, call Chopsity on 08037907877 so we can roll out the drum on your behalf, run your errands and take the blame (sure there won’t be any).
