Politics / Re: Chadian Aircraft Bomb Nigerian Town In Anti-Boko Haram Raid by mamigocentral: 3:16am On Feb 01, 2015
I'm neither a fan of politicizing salient security issues nor am I inclined to react when people simply chose not to search the truth out but just take out their frustrations on others here on NL. Even if the Nigerian military is as demoralized and debilitated as most people here think, I'm sure they'd still be ranked higher than the chadians in terms of fire power and personnel.

http://www.nationmaster.com/country-info/compare/Chad/Nigeria/Military

Either the so called bombing was a joint manouver of the MNJF or the chadians actually bombed Nigerian territory in which case am sure the diplomatuc lines to France, the Uk, Chad and Nigeria will have been blazing. Come on what do you expect, Jonathan or whoever eventually becomes president to don khaki and go to the Chad border and declare war! That will effectively be declaring war against France at a time that all the francophone countries around us seem to be harbouring BH. Reality Check please! Jonathan's ineptitude may have caused a lot of things but i dont think he's foolish enough to declare war over something the notorious Nigerian and western media overhyped.

@Uwadiegwu, u are right but as I said they are building that online culture and their buisness model is still one of the best for translating profit for a web based startup in Nigeria.
Webmasters / Re: The Best Web-Based Businesses To Start In Nigeria? by mamigocentral: 2:34pm On Feb 01, 2013
Well seeing as Start ups in Nigeria are actually making headway, i think the next step should be fostering and engendering more of an online culture like Jumia is doing, then definitely most of the ideas we have here will have a better chance at succeeding.

^^^You find yourself agreeing with his thrash....but of course you would, wouldn't you?; you can try and play the 'level-headed neutral' all you like but at some point your true sentiments and feelings will always betray you.
Touche, go read about Confederate president jefferson davis who is the perfect example of an Ojukwu in the US civil war. Check wikipedia if u cant find his story anywhere else. And if Ojukwu was in Gowon's shoes he'd have tried a lot of biafran generals same as he did killing his own people and sentencing them to jail on flimsy irrelevant excuses as saboteurs. With all their barbarism; I never heard of high level officers being court martialled on the Nigerian side. This very thing was why he lost his war, his, because the Ibo nation still survives and thrives as a result of the magnanimity of a seemingly ironical blood thirsty general (Gowon)

Ok will look up on those books again but my I seriously doubt the existence of an agenda of calculated brutality.

Now, I've died and gone to heaven. Am happy that at least one person can get past all the bullshit and examine matters critically. Its so cool that you're a level headed intellect. It wasnt brutality with intent, it was more like an emotional retaliation for what the Ibos had suffered unlike the planned massacres of the nigerian army. If i was in ther position i probably would have done so too, its not about laying blame but more about laying out the facts.

Una no dey tire to dey post this nowa omoigui fairytale over and over. That seems to be the only news source on "biafran atrocities". No other newspaper in the world carried the news, the Midwest Rebel Atrocities Panel couldn't find anything, no group or persons till today has corroborated this. Yet when argument start una go quote omoigui's blog as if na holy bible
well, i've never read Omoigui's blog and I know that on the retreat from Ore blood was shed and conveniently tucked away in the greater mass of bloodshed then occuring in the east. Read Ben Gbulie's why we struck, wale ademoyegun's Nigeria's five majors and alexander madiebo's nigerian civil war and biafran revolution. Even as much as i respected Madiebo's accuracy in almost all the issues discussed he was more or less guilty of protecting biafra's image, but that was expected. Why gloss over a few deaths in Ore, benin and other communities the biafran army passed thru led by a son of the soil, all of that could effectively be left at adekunle's feet as the commanding officer of the biafran force that drove deep into the heart of the west

Gowon was following orders from Harold Wilson. It seems like it is most of you that are delusional to think that people don't already know about the starvation of women and children during the war. It's funny how these aboonga-boonga e-rioters were bragging about defeating Biafra with starvation and massacre only months ago, now their nyassh is in a knot because Chinua Achebe said the same thing? Regardless of a trial, there will forever be Biafran sentiment and Nigeria will never be one.

You failed to break a nations spirit, get over it.
don't be mistaken. The tribal spirit wasn't broken but the nation's was. Even the yoruba still have delusions about O'dua state.

dayokanu: ^^ The Nazi spirit was broken through crushing defeat trial and death of the key Nazist.

The same thing should have been done to Biafra
Doing that would have raised all the minority tribes and the yoruba against the federal government of Gowon. Nigeria would in effect have ceased to exist.

oyb: achebe, the 1000 year nnabros reich is dead. deal with it.

Gowon is the one who messed up - should have tried the biafra high command for treason and war crimes and had them all locked away. instead, and they are playing nazi remnants
I actually find myself agreeing with you on the issue of trial but let's be sincere, a trial would have been disastrous in light of the fact that Ojukwu fled and ibos couldnt be held responsible for a war brought about by both sides, although i can say categorically that Ojukwu was the only leader of a losing side in a civil war that i have heard of who went on to become a national hero half a decade after d war instead of a dead body in a morgue regardless of whay country he fled to

At some point in this I may sound vitriolic about some issues but that aside, why do we keep on unearthing old grievances and reopening forgotten or almost forgotten scars. Some are screaming about being forced citizens, some are shouting insha allah Chinua is a fool. My point is this, put as simply as i can, bury the hatchet. I can recite all i know about the civil war and I won't bring back the thousands who died. How does the place of birth of a man and the languages he has learned define his actions. Agreed a massacre of genocidic proportions took place almost worthy of the tutsi and huti label in Rwanda, but have you checked that country's politics recently, have you checked her economic status. For God's sake rwandans pulled themselves up and pushed ahead while we sit in the muck of memories best used as deterrents and wallow in self pity. Well sha, if y'all decide that you'll do that fine, but as for me bring me a worthy Nigerian regardless of tribe and I'l vote 4 him as my president, in fact we need an ibo man if they can get past biafra and wake up to the reality that is nigeria. Am a Nigerian in green, white, green More on this later?

It is not a secret that in any nation there are elements of the population that exhibit a larcenous bent. But this should not be used as an excuse to wash dirty linen in public, because we all do have our share. If south africa is shouting bout nigerians then what should the USA do proclaim us as their problem. No take the initiative by going after the kingpins not the small fish. It is only a narrowminded person like cele that would come up with such bullshit. As far as am concerned to remove this problem south africa has to accept that the problem lies with them and act accordingly. Do not let the west come between us as we are brothers and africans to boot.
