Fubara Reacts As Ex-HOS, Nwaeke Accuses Him Of Bombing Oil Pipelines, Rivers Assembly | #Politicsnigeria

Suspended Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara has denied accusations from his former Head of Service, George Nwaeke, disclosing that he never ordered the bombing of the Rivers State House of Assembly or any Oil Pipeline.

Fubara, in a statement made available to POLITICS NIGERIA, stated that no such thing occurred during his administration. The statement read;

“My attention has been drawn to a press briefing by the former Head of Service, Dr. George Nwaeke aired on Channels Television on Friday the 28th of March 2025. Ordinarily, I would not have responded to his claims, but to correct the erroneous impression such allegations may create in the minds of the people, and the disaffection it is bound to cause in the state and the country.”

“First, on the claim that he was aware of my discussions and plans to support Bala Mohammed’s alleged 2027 presidential bid, it is laughable that Dr. Nwaeke would be part of any high level political meeting as Head of Service, much more sitting in my alleged night meetings with Bala Mohammed and militants like he claimed. Howbeit, none of such meetings ever held.”

“The truth is that the whole world knew when the Bauchi State Governor, as Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party Governors Forum visited the State, and there was nothing secret about the visits.”

“It is also ludicrous for Dr. Nwaeke to claim that he was aware of my meetings to encourage attacks on oil pipelines and other National assets in the State, as there was no time I held any meeting with militants or any criminal group to destabilise the State. It is on record that I have been at the forefront preaching peace in the State even in the face of obvious provocations.”

“The truth is that Dr. Nwaeke has been compromised, and whatever he is saying is only aimed at fulfilling his promise to those who may have paid or coerced him to lie against me.”

“I call on all well meaning Nigerians and the good people of Rivers State to disregard everything said by Dr. Nwaeke as they are mere desperate attempts to discredit me and my administration, and undermine the peace process by Mr. President”.

Gov Soludo Urged to Prevent Alleged EFCC-Linked Candidate from Becoming Oba’s Igwe

By Imo Jonathan

As the Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, continues his effort at fighting crime and sanitizing his state, the news of a certain individual who is undergoing trial for economic crime trying to become an Igwe under his regime should be a call for concern for him.

There are plethora of lawsuits, court injunctions, Economic and Financial Crimes (EFCC) indictments, pending criminal cases trailing the foremost candidate contesting for the highly revered position of Ezeokpoko II of Oba.

Seven years after the death of Ezeokpoko I of Oba, Igwe P.C. Ezenwa, Oba, a frontline town in Idemili South Local Government, Anambra State, is yet to have another Igwe. This dilemma is not as a result of the absence of qualified candidates. It is in fact, expected that a community such as Oba, who boasts of the powerful and influential will easily pick the best among a handful candidates to fill this all-important position.

The reverse is however the case as the high standard of integrity, discipline, accountability and piety set by the former monarch for over 42 years of his reign is on the verge of being smeared and thrown overboard.

The man that have done everything and is willing to do more, no matter how ungodly, to become the next Ezeokpoko, should never have been in the discussion of becoming the next Oba Monarch, if the same scale that was used to select the late Igwe were also being used for the next. How could a man who threw decency to the gutters in the process of wealth acquisition, be given the responsibility of leading a town, such as Oba?

Engr. Augustine Chinedum Emelobe is not a man that can be trusted with the finances of a community like Oba, who boasts of uncountable men with deep pockets. Here is a man that connived with the defunct manager of Oba Community Bank and helped himself with over a hundred million naira loan without due process. This case which is just one out of a handful of others is still with the EFCC.

In 2024, EFCC intensified investigation in his involvement in financial crimes and it is now a latent issue that will lead to a disgraceful debacle not only for the good people of Oba but the entire Anambra State, where the Governor is working so hard to restore sanity.

As it stands now, this character is hiding from the EFCCand want to quickly emerge as Igwe of Oba, Anambra State, so that he can gain some kind immunity under the Igwe gab. Which in effect is to make EFCC scared of being accused in the future of undermining Igbo tradition. Unfortunately, Igbo tradition abhors criminality and does not subscribe to a may who has character deficiencies leading their community. Especially, with the reputation of Governor Soludo as an internationally recognized personality it will be a shame for such to happen under him.

The culture of accountability and moderation sustained by the former Monarch may well be on their way to the gutter if a man indicted by Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) testimony and evidences of tax evasion and tax certificate forgery is allowed to assume the highest traditional office in the land. Furthermore, evidences abound of the EFCC indicting him of under-declaration of assets/turnover in order to pay lower.

The days of criminals, fraudsters and evil men using the immunity provided by traditional leadership were long gone and people of Oba should not encourage this obvious rascality. In line with the holy book’s submission that the people rejoice when the righteous is in power, the indigenes of Oba should not invite this fire to their bosom. The essence of this article is not to tarnish image but to furnish the people with information they might not be aware of. From his days at Chevron, where he was forced to resign after an indictment to the management of his company, Northbrige Energy Ltd, one thing has been consistent about Engr. Augustine Chinedum Emelobe: his intent to use his position to cheat, defraud unsuspecting people and the desire to help himself with public funds. This contravenes everything good leadership stands for, which is selflessness, accountability, courage among others.

The state government through the commission for traditional rulers has halted the process of the Igweship selection citing several breach of due process, including an attempt to amend the Oba town constitution and the candidate’s non-membership of the Ozo Society of Okuzu Village in Oba Idemili.

It important that His Excellency, Professor Chukwuma Soludo intensifies his effort to rid Anambra state of criminal minds by stepping in to ensure that a man with such character deficiencies does not become an Igwe under his watch.

Anambra Community Denies Monarch's Claim Regarding Vigilante Group Representative (Photos) | #Politicsnigeria

The Anaofia-Etiti Welfare Association, representing the Anaofia-Etiti village in Enugwu-Agidi Community, Anambra State, has formally refuted recent statements made by it traditional ruler, Igwe Mike Okekeuche of Enugwu Agidi on the appointment of Chukwudi Tansi as a representative in the 20-man Vigilante Group of Enugwu-Agidi.

Contrary to the Igwe's assertions that Tansi was nominated by the village, the Welfare Association, through a written rebuttal signed by Chairman Ozo Nonso Ifebunso and Secretary Mr. Chinedu Mmuo Ututu, declared the claims "false narrative." According to the statement, Tansi was not appointed or endorsed by Anaofia-Etiti for the role in question.

The Statement reads:

"This is to inform the general public especially the good people of Enugwu-Agidi that Chukwudi Tansi was never at any given time nominated/appointed a representative of Anaofia-Etiti in the composition of the Enugwu-Agidi vigilante group.

"This notification became necessary following a false narrative by the Chief Press Secretary to Igwe Mike Okekeuche, Ichie Ifeanyi Ndulue on the 4th day of February 2025 that Anaofia-Etiti people "screened and nominated "Chukwudi Tansi" her representative in the twenty man vigilante group for Enugwu-Agidi.

"His appointment/nomination was solely done by Igwe Mike Okekeuche (Okpalariam III) without recourse to the good people of Anaofia-Etiti Enugwu-Agidi."

Enugwu-Agidi Community in Anambra State has been in the news lately with the President-General of the community ,Ebuka Onuorah pointing accusing finger on the traditional ruler ,Igwe Mike Okekeuche of links with the arrested kidnap suspect.

This platform had reported the recent arrest of the suspect,Chukwudi Tansi who is said to be a member of the Enugwu-Agidi Community Vigilante.

The arrest of the suspected kidnapper by Soludo's Agunechemba team has continued to generate crisis.

The recent letter by Anaofia-Etiti Welfare Association appears to be another indictment on the Igwe of Enugwu-Agidi Community, HRH Mike Okekeuche about his involvement in the whole issue.

Everything Worked Well Under My Leadership – Ex-President Buhari | #Politicsnigeria

Former President Muhammadu Buhari has praised the handling of the economy and security during his administration between 2015 and 2023.

The former Nigerian leader stated that Nigeria’s economy and security improved significantly during his eight-year tenure. Buhari made these remarks on Wednesday while receiving members of the Katsina State Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigerian Union of Journalists at his country home in Daura, Katsina State.

The former President recalled the security and economic challenges his administration inherited from the previous People’s Democratic Party (PDP)-led government. However, he said that his government’s strategies successfully tackled these challenges, curbing terrorism and economic hardship.

Buhari stated, “Nigeria’s security and economy improved significantly under my administration compared to what we met in 2015. Things will continue to improve in Nigeria.”

He also acknowledged the administrative challenges facing the country, noting that only those in positions of power truly understand these obstacles.

The former President’s comments were preceded by praise from the Chairman of the Correspondents’ Chapel, Yusuf Ibrahim-Jargaba, who lauded Buhari’s efforts in tackling terrorism, banditry, and other security challenges during his tenure. Ibrahim-Jargaba also commended Buhari’s hard work, dedication, and selfless service, which he believes helped maintain the country’s unity.

Politics"You're A Liar";PG Tells Anambra Traditional Ruler Over Link With Kidnap Suspect by Man102(op): 10:13am On Feb 06, 2025
"You're a liar"; PG Tells Anambra Traditional Ruler Over Link With Kidnap Suspect | #Politicsnigeria

As the controversy rages over the denial of Igwe Michael Okekeuche (the Okpalariam III) of Enugwu Agidi that he does not have any personal knowledge or link with Chukwudi Tansi , an alleged kidnap kingpin from Enugwu Agidi who he personally nominated as member and designated Commander of Enugwu Agidi Community Central Vigilante Group.

Recall that several news outlets including Arise Television had reported that as at 12:15 am on 30th January 2025. troops carried out raid operations based on credible intelligence to a kidnapper’s hideout/armoury location at Enugwu Agidi, Njikoka LGA.

One Mr Chukwudi Tansi, a member of a suspected kidnapping syndicate was apprehended. Items recovered include : 2 AK 47 rifles, 8 pump action guns,4 foreign made pistols, 3 packets of cartridges (101 cartridges),4 empty magazines of AK 47 rifles. 3 cutlasses, one Baofeng radio, one motorcycle and some charms.

This was not the first time; the said kidnap suspect would have brush with the law . He was arrested sometime in April 2024 based on petition written by the President General of the town dated April 4, 2014 accusing him of illegal possession of fire arms, threat to life and sundry criminal activities. It was alleged that the Igwe with some members of his cabinet went to the police in Abuja to secure his bail and also claimed that the guns recovered from him were issued to him as the head of the Palace Guard. The existence of Palace Guards are not known to the Town Union Government.

Upon regaining his freedom, the said Chukwuma Tansi became more notorious , more emboldened and continued with his underworld activities which included kidnapping and masterminding attacks on police stations and defrocking killed officers of their rifles.

Despite all the red flags on the suspect, Igwe Michael Okekeuche in a letter referenced
HRH/1/MCO/LOV/086/24/6/2024 dated 24/06/2024 nominated the said suspect as a member of Enugwu Central Vigilante Group and recommended him as the Commander . This move was flatly rejected by the President General who insisted that the Igwe is literally handing over the community to known criminals . The tension between the Igwe and President General has persisted since then, leaving the community without organised security group.

In the war of words between the Igwe and the PG on the current arrest and harvest of fire arms from the suspect, and following the Igwe’s denial of the suspect, the PG Honourable David Chukwuebuka Onuorah had said the Igwe was being economical with the truth and that his connection with the suspect require deeper investigation as according to him the suspect is not a lone wolf. He has internal and external collaborators and powerful protectors.

Report had emerged that the Igwe denied knowledge of the suspect whom he now referred to as a guard to the President General . The Igwe in a Press Statement issued through his Palace Secretary Mr Ifeanyi Ndulue accused the PG of disparaging his name because of their political differences. He said the damage that had been done as a result of the PGs allegations against him was unquantifiable.

On his part, Hon Ebuka Onuorah, the PG said the Igwe must have serious amnesia to be lying carelessly when the facts are there and on plain sights. Amnesia refers to the loss of memories, including facts, information and experiences.
A report by Facts News Report quoted the PG as saying: _“The records of my petition to the Police IGP against the suspect are there. The record of the IGP approval directing for the investigation of the suspect are there. The findings of the police who arrested him in April and detained him in Abuja are there. The circumstances under which he was granted bail by the police and who stood as his surety are all there, including the letter of the Igwe nominating the suspect as a member and head of Enugwu Agidi Central Vigilante are there, likewise his objection of the inclusion of the suspect as a member of Vigilante addressed to the Commissioner of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs are there_ to reconfirm who are the protectors of the suspect and his collaborators.
The records of proceedings with both the Anambra State Commissioner of Local Governments and Chieftaincy Affairs, Special Adviser to the Governor on Security e Transition Chairman Njikoka LGA in 2024 can be subpoenaed.

The PG threatened to sue the Igwe and his palace secretary for defamation of character if he did not tender retraction of his statement and tender an unreserved apology within 4 days for referring the suspect as being in his employment as a *personal security guard and also being the one that bailed him from the police in Abuja.

“This is for the record and to remind the morally-flexible that at some point in our life, we must accept responsibility for our poor judgements, and actions, and speak the truth no matter how inconvenient.

PoliticsHon. Ikwechegh Exposes Hidden Budget Leakages In Explosive NASS Session by Man102(op): 1:58pm On Feb 04, 2025

Hon. Ikwechegh Exposes Hidden Budget Leakages in Explosive NASS Session | #IgbereTV

The ongoing budget defence sessions at the National Assembly have once again reignited a long-standing debate: Is Nigeria’s budgeting process truly a mechanism for national development, or is it merely an avenue for unchecked financial mismanagement? As lawmakers scrutinize budgetary allocations, recent revelations suggest that corruption, reckless spending, and unaccountable fiscal practices continue to plague government agencies, leaving many Nigerians questioning the integrity of the system.

At the forefront of this debate is Honourable Alex Mascot Ikwechegh, a vocal advocate for financial transparency and accountability in governance. During a live interview on Channels TV's Sunrise daily, Ikwechegh raised serious concerns over the alarming trend of government agencies persistently requesting increased funding without providing justifiable accounts of previous allocations.

“Every single agency that appeared before the National Assembly has asked for more money. And the million-dollar question remains: what have they done with previous allocations?” Ikwechegh asked. His scrutiny fell particularly on the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), an agency established in 1992 with the mandate to drive technological innovation and industrialization in Nigeria. Despite receiving billions in funding over the years, the agency’s tangible contributions remain questionable.

“What has NASENI manufactured?” Ikwechegh continued. “We are talking about an agency that has received hundreds of billions of naira. Where are the locally made power banks, streetlights, or any meaningful industrial output?” His statement underscored the need for increased scrutiny of budgetary allocations that fail to translate into real economic progress for Nigerians.

Hon. Ikwechegh representing Aba North/South at the House of Representatives, further revealed a disturbing pattern within the budget proposals submitted by agencies. “When you open these documents, you see suspicious line items such as ‘Engagement of Scientific Personnel for Infrastructural Growth’—budgeted at 17 billion naira. Another line reads ‘Engagement for This and That’ at 10 billion. These are vague and ambiguous figures that do not translate into any measurable impact for the Nigerian people,” he stated.

The lawmaker did not stop at exposing questionable expenditures; he called for a thorough investigation into NASENI’s financial activities over the past five years. He emphasized that at a time when Nigeria’s economy is struggling under inflation and mounting debt, financial transparency should be paramount.

“If we are truly serious about President Tinubu’s ‘Renewed Hope’ agenda, we must put an end to this financial recklessness. How can we claim to be tightening our belts when agencies are inflating budgets with frivolous spending?” Ikwechegh charged.

Beyond individual agencies, the broader picture of Nigeria’s budgeting crisis is even more alarming. With an estimated 85% of the national budget dedicated to overhead costs—leaving less than 20% for capital projects—the nation is on a path toward economic stagnation unless urgent reforms are enacted. “Our focus should be on production and manufacturing, yet we spend massively on bureaucracy while ignoring the fundamental issues hindering our economy. When will we stop living on borrowed funds and start generating revenue through actual industrial output?” Ikwechegh queried.

Honourable Ikwechegh further reinforced his stance, criticizing the inefficiencies and lack of measurable progress from agencies that continue to siphon national resources. “What have they achieved with the funds they’ve received in the past?” he asked, pointing out the absence of large-scale industrial impact despite claims of producing laptops and electric vehicles.

His solution? A call for immediate reforms and stringent oversight. “We need to check their books, identify leakages, and block them. The National Assembly must take responsibility. We must go beyond oversight visits and scrutinize financial records to ensure that the Nigerian people get value for their money,” he stated.

In response to Ikwechegh’s concerns, some officials within the National Assembly argue that the budgeting process remains rigorous and transparent. However, given the historical precedent of financial mismanagement in government agencies, scepticism remains high among citizens.

With the second year of the Tinubu administration fast approaching and no significant industrial or economic progress in sight, Nigerians are left questioning whether their leaders are truly committed to economic growth or merely sustaining a cycle of budgetary waste. One thing is clear: If these allegations hold true, the nation’s economic future remains in jeopardy unless urgent action is taken to curb financial excesses within the government.

Will the National Assembly heed these calls for reform, or will this budget defence session become another chapter in Nigeria’s long history of economic mismanagement? The nation waits in anticipation.

PoliticsAtiku, Peter Obi, Amaechi Will Be Worse Than Jonathan, Buhari, Tinubu – APC by Man102(op): 7:23am On Feb 03, 2025
“Atiku, Peter Obi, Amaechi Will Be Worse Than Jonathan, Buhari, Tinubu” – APC Chieftain | #Politicsnigeria

Former APC National Vice Chairman (North West), Salihu Moh Lukman, has warned that opposition figures like Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Rotimi Amaechi, and Kayode Fayemi will be even worse leaders than former Presidents Goodluck Jonathan, Muhammadu Buhari, and current President Bola Tinubu.

In a statement reacting to recent political developments, Lukman criticized the politicians for prioritizing personal ambition over genuine democratic reforms.

He argued that their desire to lead a new opposition coalition is driven by self-interest rather than a commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s democracy.

“The worrying reality is that many of these opposition and displaced politicians with ambitions are highly complicit and have little or no evidential credentials of emerging as better political leaders,” Lukman stated.

He accused them of failing to learn from past mistakes, adding that their records in governance do not inspire confidence. According to him, Nigeria risks ending up with another bad leader in 2027 if political institutions are not strengthened.

Lukman stated that forming a coalition just to unseat Tinubu without addressing fundamental governance issues would be futile.

He echoed Peter Obi’s stance that opposition unity should not be about a mere power grab but about real reforms that benefit Nigerians.

“Even when opposition and displaced politicians unite to defeat APC and President Tinubu in 2027, the country may end up with another bad, if not worse, leader,” he warned.

PoliticsGo And Prostrate Before Tinubu – Federal Lawmaker Tells Aregbesola by Man102(op): 7:04am On Feb 03, 2025
“Go And Prostrate Before Tinubu” – Federal Lawmaker Tells Aregbesola | #Politicsnigeria

The lawmaker representing Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency in Osun State, Oluwole Oke, has advised former Governor Rauf Aregbesola to reconcile with President Bola Tinubu, urging him to “go and beg, prostrate, and make peace” with his former political leader.

Oke, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), made the remark in a social media post on Sunday, stating that if he were in Aregbesola’s position, that is exactly what he would do.

His statement comes amid growing political tension in Osun State, where Aregbesola’s faction, Omoluabi Progressives, recently announced its exit from the All Progressives Congress (APC) due to unresolved conflicts with the mainstream party.

The division was caused by a prolonged feud between Aregbesola and his successor, Adegboyega Oyetola, as well as reports of a fallout between Aregbesola and Tinubu.

“If I were in his shoes, I would go and beg, prostrate, and make peace with my principal, PBAT [President Bola Ahmed Tinubu].

“Assuming I were a member of the APC in Osun, I would ensure that Asiwaju Gboyega Oyetola and Ogbeni Aregbesola reconcile. As we know, ‘Ija o dola’ – fighting doesn’t bring wealth,” Oke wrote.

While calling Aregbesola a major political force in Osun, Oke also urged the PDP to capitalize on the APC’s internal divisions, describing the former minister as a “bride” in the state’s politics.

“The PDP must act fast, pay the necessary dowry, and bring this ‘bride’ into their fold.

“Ogbeni can still pull a minimum of 20,000 votes in Ife/Ijesa Senatorial District. His influence in Ijesa North and Ijesa South is undeniable,”
he said.

Oke concluded by predicting that Aregbesola would remain a key player in Osun politics, saying, “Baba Kabiru is a factor. Keep this post and check back after 2026.”

PoliticsAnyanwu Petitions DSS Over Governors’ Endorsement Of Udeh-okoye As PDP Secretary by Man102(op): 6:43am On Feb 03, 2025
Anyanwu Petitions DSS Over Governors’ Endorsement of Udeh-Okoye as PDP Secretary | #Politicsnigeria

The National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Samuel Anyanwu, has petitioned security agencies, warning of a threat to peace and security by governors elected under the party.

The petition, dated February 1st, 2025, was addressed to the Department of State Security (DSS), the National Security and Civil Defence Corps, and the Supreme Court and Court of Appeal.

Anyanwu accused the governors of inviting chaos with their recognition of Sunday Udo-Okoye as National Secretary. He cited a communique issued by the PDP Governors Forum, which advised the National Working Committee (NWC) to implement the Enugu Court of Appeal judgment favouring Ude Okoye’s nomination.

However, Anyanwu pointed out that an appeal has been filed in the Supreme Court against the judgment, and the Court of Appeal has ordered both parties to maintain the status quo pending the determination of the substantive application. He argued that the governors’ endorsement of Ude Okoye is in conflict with the court decision and warned of grave dangers if the NWC attempts to implement the governors’ advice.

Anyanwu also alleged that Ude Okoye, with the support of his cohorts, invaded the PDP National Secretariat with hired thugs and bandits, disrupting a meeting of the Board of Trustees. He described this action as unlawful and in disregard of the judiciary and the rule of law.

The petition read in part, “There is an urgent need for the police to take note of paragraph 3 of the communique issued by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors Forum after their meeting, which took place in Asaba, Delta State, on Friday, January 31, 2025.

“In the quoted paragraph 3 of the Communique, the Forum advised the NWC to set up a machinery for the implementation of the Enugu Court of Appeal judgement, which favoured the nomination of SKD Ude Okoye as the National Secretary of the Party.

“The police should be aware that an appeal has been filed in the Supreme Court against the quoted judgement. Furthermore, the Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja granted an order on January 13, 2025, clearly directing both parties to maintain status quo ante bellum pending the determination of the substantive application.
“The order accordingly was duly served on all parties concerned, including the National Working Committee of PDP and INEC.

“It is a settled matter in law that when a judgement is appealed against to a superior court; all parties should maintain status quo ante bellum till the matter is finally determined.

“The governors cannot claim ignorance of this position of law before issuing their statement, which runs in conflict with the court decision.

“The police is aware that on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, the same Ude Okoye, on the ill advice of his cohorts, invaded the PDP National Secretariat, the venue of the PDP Board of Trustees (BoT) meeting with hired thugs and bandits to unleash attacks intended to disrupt the meeting for which he is not a member.

“That action was completely unlawful and in total disregard of the judiciary and the rule of law.

“It is saddening that the governors, in their expected wisdom, have allowed themselves to be deceived by the sponsors of Ude Okoye, who are already facing criminal investigations by the police against the forged PDP guidelines, which they used to mislead the courts in securing the ill-fated judgements.

“Police is therefore being alerted to the grave dangers that will ensue in the attempt of the NWC to implement the quoted advice of the PDP Governors Forum enshrined in paragraph 3 of their communique.

“It will be an invitation to chaos and an affront to the judiciary and the rule of law, especially when the matter is pending before the superior courts for determination.

“I am by this letter calling on you to take necessary steps to forestall the crises being instigated by the PDP Governors and the sponsors of Ude Okoye.

“The National Working Committee of PDP should be advised to refrain from any action that will be contrary to the position of the court on this matter.

“It is my right as a lawful citizen to seek justice against a judgement that was fraudulently secured against me.

“In the interest of peace and safety of lives and property of innocent Nigerians, all parties to this case should be cautioned to conduct themselves in line with the rule of law and the decision of the Court of Appeal to maintain status quo ante bellum pending the hearing and determination of the motion.

“Anything contrary to this will be vehemently resisted. I still remain the validly elected National Secretary of PDP until the court rules otherwise.

“Thanking you in anticipation of your kind intervention, and please, accept the assurances of my esteemed regards.”

PoliticsPeter Obi Issues Stern ‘Warning’ To Cleric After Making ₦20M Donation To School by Man102(op): 12:04pm On Feb 01, 2025
The 2023 presidential candidate for the Labour Party, Peter Obi has declined the move by the leadership of the Shanahan College of Nursing Sciences, Nsukka to name its hall after him.

The proposal was tabled before Obi after he made a N20 million cash donation for the school’s ongoing infrastructural development.

Reverend Father Kelvin Caesar, the institution’s manager had pleaded with the former governor of Anambra State to permit the school name the hall after him.

Ceasar had announced to the audience while Obi presented the N20 million cheque that the construction of the hall was solely sponsored by the former governor.

He further stated that following the donation, the hall would be named after Obi.

However, in a swift move, Obi declined the honour by Ceasar.

Anambra Traditional Ruler Implicated in Community's Insecurity Scandal | #Politicsnigeria

There is brewing tension in Enugwu-Agidi community over the arrest of a suspected kidnapper Chukwudi Tansi by Soludo's Agunechemba team .

Recently , the Social media was awash with news about the arrest of Chukwudi Tansi, a member of the Enugwu-Agidi Community Vigilante, apprehended with a cache of firearms, which exposed his alleged involvement in criminal activities that have long plagued Enugwu-Agidi community.

What adds more fuel to the fire is the implication of the traditional ruler of the community in the unfolding drama, as revealed by the President General (PG) of the community, Hon Chukwuebuka Onuorah.

Speaking to journalists, the PG, Mr. Onuorah, expressed vindication. He pointed fingers at the traditional ruler for nominating Tansi to the community Vigilante despite prior warnings from the PG about Tansi's possession of firearms.

Speaking further, Onuorah said he went as far as writing to the Inspector General of Police, citing threats to his life and the illegal possession of weapons by Tansi, a willing tool in the hand of the traditional ruler.

Part of his letter to the Inspector-General of Police reads:

"After my inauguration, I have received series of threats from the Traditional Ruler of Enugwu-Agidi HRH Mike Okekeuche of Umuakwuelo-Etiti village, Enugwu-Agidi in Njikoka LGA of Anambra State, Nigeria, ranging from forceful invasion of my residence and privacy and restriction of my free movement.
On Friday, 29th March, 2024 at exactly 11:07am, my residence was surrounded and invaded by heavily armed unknown faces who later introduced themselves as members of the Nigeria Police Force, claimed to be acting on the instructions of HRH Mike Okekeuche, took me to an unknown destination, but I return glory to God, that the unknown gun men vehemently warned me to denounce my position as the President General of Enugwu-Agidi Brotherly Union Nigeria (EBU-NIG) so that Igwe’s choice will be installed and later released me unhurt.
"The Igwe HRH Mike Okekeuche, through one Chukwudi Tansi and Okonkwo Clement Ugochukwu, well-known members of outlawed IPOB, who parade themselves as soldiers and moving around the community with AK47 rifles have on several occasions attacked me with their guns, threatening to kill me, except I resign and step down from my position as the President General of my Community, and Igwe’s choice installed, that even the local Police are afraid of them. The confidence reposed on me by the good people of Enugwu-Agidi, I do not wish to give away; hence I had to run away for my dear life.
"Sir, in this circumstance, I am writing this petition with hope of consolation vis-a-vis calling attention of Police IRT, Abuja whose track record in tackling heinous crimes is visible to the blind and audible to the deaf in Nigeria, to arrest, and prosecute the above named unscrupulous criminal elements and all that are involved no matter whose ox is gored. Peradventure my complaints get to you late, and my life taken away, you should at least know my killer for I do not wish to join the long list of unresolved murders".

Corroborating the PG's account, a social media user from Enugwu-Agidi, Ezeobi, raised pertinent questions about influential figures aiding Tansi's evasion of justice despite his involvement in serious criminal activities.

In light of these revelations, the PG is now urging for a thorough police investigation to expose the support network shielding individuals like Chukwudi Tansi.

Ex-Imo Commissioner Fabian Ihekweme Admits To Spreading Falsehood, Apologises To Gov Uzodinma

The former Commissioner for Foreign and International Affairs in Imo State, Fabian Ihekweme, has publicly apologised to Governor Hope Uzodinma for spreading false information against the state government.

In a handwritten apology submitted to the police on January 27, Ihekweme admitted to fabricating allegations against the governor with malicious intent.

He expressed remorse and pledged to refrain from further defamatory actions.

Naija News reports that Ihekweme’s apology follows his recent arrest after a petition by the Imo Democratic Alliance (IDA), which accused him of publishing seditious and inflammatory content aimed at inciting unrest.

The police dismissed rumours of his abduction, stating that his arrest was lawful and backed by a signed warrant.

Ihekweme, who served in Uzodinma’s first term, reportedly intensified attacks on the governor via social media after being excluded from the second-term cabinet.

Government sources claim he was sidelined due to alleged involvement in an attempt to sell off state-owned properties, including Avutu Poultry and the Okigwe Water Scheme—an accusation that previously led to his arrest.

His online allegations included claims of corruption within the administration and accusations that the Imo Concord Hotel was to be sold to Marriott Hotels.

Additionally, he allegedly demanded a ₦500 million bribe from the governor to halt his criticisms.

As of press time, requests for comments from the police and state government representatives remain unanswered.

PoliticsSoludo As The Sun Governor Of The Year: An Expensive Joke by Man102(op): 7:55pm On Jan 21, 2025
SOLUDO AS THE SUN GOVERNOR OF THE YEAR: AN EXPENSIVE JOKE

By Michael Amakeze

Oscar Wilde in his 1889 essay, The Decay of Lying, declared that life imitates art far more than art imitates life. Some of his contemporaries kicked against his postulations, arguing instead that art is an imitation of life. Events in history, however, have proven him right, time and again. The recent announcement of Governor Chukwuma Soludo as the Sun Governor of the Year Award recipient seemed like a plot taken from a book authored by Mario Puzo. In fact, it is a strange genre of fiction, an uncommon example of life imitating art.

The press publication states that the “Governor of Anambra State Prof Charles Chukwuma Soludo has emerged as The Sun Newspaper "Governor of the Year 2024” in recognition of his excellent performance in governance with laudable achievements in his infrastructural and transformational advancement of the state…” I have frantically searched for the governance metrics used by the Editorial Board of The Sun Newspaper that helped them arrive at their unpopular and rather misguided decision if not shady and have found none. Perhaps, quite unlike them, I am a carnal man limited in the flesh and by physical sight, while the Editorial Board members see in the spirit. Thus, it could have been that the meaning of the word “transformation” had undergone a major drift in the semantics of their spiritual language, and without any shred of doubt, had eluded carnal men like me.

Security of lives and property is the primary and most fundamental purpose of government. It is the pillar upon which every other developmental effort rests on. Section 14 is clear and unequivocal on this declaration. It follows that the failure of the government in this most important function is akin to failure in every other metric. In other words, every other accomplishment without security remains baseless and meaningless. Borrowing a legalese maxim that was propounded in the case of UAC V MACFOY, you can’t build something on nothing and expect it to stand. “Nothing” in this context becomes insecurity. It fosters a Hobbesian state where life is nasty, brutish and short.

Soludo’s Anambra is a modern day Hobbesian state and it is because he has not treated security with the seriousness and constant, resolute, unceasing engagement that it deserves. Kidnapping is booming because there are no consequences. The outlaws who run the kidnap franchise are confident that nothing will happen to them under the current administration. And so splinter groups emerge every day and new camps flourish in their devilish schemes. For a Governor who promised to deliver a 24hr economy, night life is long gone in his State and the requiem duly conducted. The litany of reported kidnap victims is a very lengthy one. Many of who don’t get to survive the ordeal. Some others may never get over the psychological torture the experience gave them. Driving a modern SUV in Anambra today is extreme sport. You will need an overdose of formula 1 driving skills and prayers sprinkled with fasting if you must make it home. Under Soludo’s government, people conduct the burials of their loved ones outside of their home towns. Very recently, Ken Maduakor had the funeral service of his mum at Nnewi even though he hails from Azia. Chief Dr Mrs Nkoli Imoh (Adadioramma Ukpor) had to move the funeral events of her dad to the Basilica of the Holy Trinity Field, Onitsha. The popular singer Flavour had to hold the burial ceremony of his father in Enugu, and the list rages on. Soludo himself who should be the chief security officer and marketer of the State took his daughter’s wedding to Abuja. Like lawyers would always say, the fact speaks for itself. Awka has turned to a cult related killings capital of Nigeria. Sometime last year, it was reported that over seven persons lost their lives in a single day and there was no outrage from the seat of power. Not a whimper. No visible strategy on how to tackle the dire situation.

Anambra used to thrive on commerce. Now it is witnessing a developmental still birth. It is bleeding profusely with no first aid in sight. Businesses are relocating massively. The village economy that used to be sustained by returnees is shrinking because people are afraid to hold events, to visit their ancestral homes and renew that emotional connection with home, a fundamental character of the Igbos. Anambra State has a massive pool of human resources in vast disciplines and human endeavours, and perhaps more than any other State in this country. Anambra has the highest per capita asset base. When the Governor chants “Aku ruo ulo” without the corresponding security of lives, it becomes sweet nonsense.

Away from the issue of security, It is embarrassing and worrisome for a Professor of Economics to legalize thuggery in the name of revenue collection and cloth questionable characters who have unchecked propensity for violence with government uniform. Governor Soludo’s reign has been so far uninspiring and lacklustre. His “Solution” mantra is now stale music and his Anambra Vision 2070 has proven to be another forgotten rim of paper in the library of aborted dreams. His so called exposure and international connection has not reflected on the fortunes of the State.

In Igbo cosmology, power is valued, but greater emphasis is placed on control hence the name Njide ka (Control is greater). It is the control of power that enables proper utilization and allocation of it for the greater good. Intentional collective progress cannot happen with the haphazard individual approach to development. Anambra yearns for someone who will innovatively lead the shift in societal aspirations and help the people achieve communal prosperity. Soludo is simply not that person.

So I ask the Editorial Board of the Sun, on what basis was Soludo named the Governor of the year?

PoliticsTinubu’s Cabals Are The Most Dangerous In Nigeria’s History – Former Minister by Man102(op): 8:14am On Jan 08, 2025
Former Minister of Youth and Sports, Solomon Dalung, has described the power brokers in President Bola Tinubu’s administration as more dangerous and sophisticated than those in the government of former President Muhammadu Buhari.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today program, Dalung claimed that the cabals in Buhari’s administration lacked education and experience in governance, rendering them less effective in manipulating the government.

“Buhari’s cabals were not quite informed, with little experience in politics, public administration, and governance,” Dalung remarked.

In contrast, Dalung characterized Tinubu’s cabals as educated, ambitious, and highly knowledgeable about power dynamics.

He labelled them as “masters” of influence with a long history in governance, making them far more formidable and dangerous.

“These cabals are sophisticated, ambitious, and have a deep understanding of power. They are more dangerous than any cabal in the history of this country,” he said.

Dalung also criticized the pervasive influence of cabals in Nigerian politics, emphasizing their challenges to good governance and accountability.

Egypt leads Africa as Nigeria’s military drops to 39th in global armed forces rankings

The Armed Forces of Nigeria have dropped three places in the 2024 Global Firepower (GFP) ranking, moving from 36th position in 2023 to 39th among 145 nations assessed worldwide.

This marks a second consecutive year of decline for Nigeria, which was ranked 35th in 2022.

Punch reports that the drop comes despite the acquisition of fighter jets and other military assets, alongside reported successes in the fight against terrorism within the country.

Nigeria also slid from third to fourth place among African countries, with Egypt maintaining its top spot on the continent, followed by Algeria and South Africa.

Globally, the United States retained its first-place ranking for the 18th consecutive year, showcasing superior strength across material, financial, and resource categories. Russia, China, India, and South Korea rounded out the top five.

Other notable African nations in the rankings include Ethiopia, Angola, Morocco, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The GFP report assessed countries based on over 60 factors, including military resources, financial stability, logistical capabilities, and geography. Nigeria’s Power Index (PwrIndx) score for 2024 stood at 0.5619, with a score of 0.0000 being considered “perfect.”

Politics2027 Is Not Atiku’s Year, He Should Wait Till 2031 – Joe Igbokwe by Man102(op): 5:28pm On Dec 16, 2024
Joe Igbokwe, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has stated that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar cannot become Nigeria’s president in 2027.

Igbokwe, writing on his Facebook page, argued that Atiku’s presidential ambition for 2027 is unrealistic and advised him to wait until 2031.

He also pointed out that Atiku’s age could be a limiting factor in his pursuit of the presidency, adding that the 2027 election was unlikely to work in the Adamawa-born politician’s favour.

His words: “Former Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Alhaji Atiku Abubakar is still struggling and dreaming to be president of Nigeria in 2027.

“It cannot fly, all things considered. He should wait till 2031. Even at that, age is not on his side.”

Igbokwe’s remarks come amid comments from the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, who suggested that no one from the North should contest against President Bola Tinubu in 2027.

PoliticsBREAKING!!! President Tinubu Approves Free Train Rides For Nigerians by Man102(op): 5:19pm On Dec 16, 2024
BREAKING!!! President Tinubu Approves Free Train Rides for Nigerians

President Bola Tinubu has approved free train rides for Nigerians nationwide from December 20, 2024, to January 5, 2025.

The move is aimed at easing transportation costs during the festive season, Minister of Information and National Orientation Mohammed Idris announced in Abuja.

Idris explained that this initiative is consistent with President Tinubu’s desire to cushion the effect of transportation costs, especially for vulnerable Nigerians.

“As we did last year, there will be free train service to all Nigerians from December 20 up until January 5, free train service nationwide.

“This is consistent with the President’s desire to cushion the effect of transportation, especially to the most vulnerable Nigerians.

“Recall that this also happened in the last Christmas period and the Sallah period. And the President has also approved that this year,” Idris said.

SEDC: President Tinubu deserves kudos for reversing years of Igbo relegation - Onuigbo

... Onuigbo tasks pioneer members on excellent performance

CHAIRMAN, Security, Climate Change, and Special Interventions Committee on the Governing Board of North East Development Commission (NEDC), Rep. Sam Ifeanyi Onuigbo, has said that the President, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu GCFR, deserves special thanks for empaneling the South East Development Commission (SEDC).

He noted that by expeditiously assenting to the bill for the creation of SEDC after its checkered passage by the 10th National Assembly, the President did what other Nigerian leaders before him could not do.

In a statement made available to media, Sunday, in Abuja, Onuigbo, who represents South East geopolitical zone in the Governing Board of NEDC, remarked that the SEDC has unique and specialized roles to play and promises to fulfill for the region after the intense devastations of the civil war.

He declared that the South East interventionist commission was coming more than 54 years after a proclamation to address the promises of the triple Rs- Rehabilitation, Reconstruction, and Reintegration--which were virtually abandoned by successive military and civilian administrations.

Onuigbo, who served two terms as the representative of Ikwuano/Umuahia North and Umuahia South Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, remarked that as a man of history, President Tinubu has touched a sensitive nerve to heal deep-seated wounds of the past.

He stated: “In all honesty, President Tinubu deserves special thanks from the people of South East, because for more than half a century, the scars of the civil war remained with us in terms of infrastructure despoliation, social disconnection and economic tribulation.

“By signing the South East Development Commission establishment bill into law and following it up with the constitution of its members, the President has equipped the commission to intervene in a special way to address the wounds of the past through psychological healing.

“The SEDC has come to remove the nagging feelings of distrust and socio-economic marginalization among the people of South East. For rising to this historical challenge, special thanks should go to President Tinubu.

He therefore charged the pioneer members of SEDC to work extra hard with uncommon unity of purpose to lay a solid foundation for the commission by achieving great milestones, even as he urged the members to do all in their powers to reenact the past global rating of South East as one of the fastest growing economies in the world.

Onuigbo, who sponsored Nigeria’s landmark legislation on the Climate Change in the 9th National Assembly, said the leadership and members of the 10th National Assembly equally deserve a pat in the back for rolling out the SEDC law.

He stressed that the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, succeeded in writing his name in gold by that momentous legislation, adding that the ball is now in the court of the members of the SEDC to live up to the great expectations of the enabling law.

“As one who sponsored the Climate Change Act 2021, I know the rigours, hurdles, and challenges of working any piece of impactful legislation through the various processes up to the signing stage. On this score, Rt. Hon. Ben Kalu has justified his position as Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives and as a focused leader.

“In the same vein, my appeal goes to the leaders, stakeholders, Ndigbo at home and in the Diaspora, and residents in the South-East geopolitical zone to join hands and support the Emeka Wogu-led members of the Governing Board of the commission to succeed. The success of the commission would be the greatest sign of the show of appreciation to President Tinubu for breaking the jinx and delivering this historic gesture.

“Coming at a time when Nigeria’s independence national anthem has been reinstated, the people of South East can now boldly sing and believe that the journey to building a nation, ‘where no one is oppressed,’ has begun,” Onuigbo declared.

It could be recalled that although the idea of a South East Development Commission was mooted in the life of the 6th National Assembly, the bill suffered many dislocations in the 8th and 9th Assemblies until Hon. Ben Kalu and other lawmakers rallied to its passage and eventual signing into law by President Bola Tinubu in July 2024.

The President recently forwarded the names of members of the SEDC, to be headed by the former Minister of Labour and Productivity, Dr. Emeka Wogu, to the Senate for screening and possible confirmation.

According to the establishment Act, the Commission is charged with the responsibility of, among other things, “to receive and manage funds from allocations of the Federation Account for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of roads, houses and other infrastructural damages suffered by the region” during the civil war, as well as tackle the ecological problems and other related environmental cum developmental challenges in the South East states.

Politics2027: North-central APC Declares Full Support For Tinubu’s Second Term Bid by Man102(op): 7:30am On Dec 16, 2024
2027: North-central APC Declares Full Support For Tinubu’s Second Term Bid |#Politicsnigeria

The North-Central All Progressives Congress (APC) Forum has thrown its weight behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s bid for a second term in office.

In a statement issued after a meeting in Abuja, the Forum, led by Chairman Alhaji Saleh Zazzaga, expressed satisfaction with Tinubu’s leadership, particularly in infrastructure, security, and appointments.

The group argued that no administration since Nigeria’s return to democracy in 1999 has provided as many benefits to the North-Central zone as Tinubu’s.

The endorsement comes amidst opposition from the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) and its youth wing, Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF).

Both groups have voiced their dissatisfaction with Tinubu’s policies, citing socio-economic challenges, and hinted at supporting a northern presidential candidate in 2027.

The APC Forum, however, expressed confidence in Tinubu’s ability to revamp Nigeria’s economy, noting that the President’s policies would eventually turn things around.

The group said: “The economic policies introduced by President Tinubu are already making the expected impact, with the recent strengthening of the Naira in the foreign exchange market, improvement in the volume of oil production, and rise in foreign reserves, among others.

“President Tinubu’s policies in the petroleum sector have already eliminated scarcity, and we believe that, with time, Nigerians will witness a reduction in the cost of petroleum products, which would reverse inflation in the county.

“The APC North-Central Forum believes President Bola Tinubu deserves a second term to midwife these reforms which are already bearing fruit, and we call on all Nigerians to support his administration to improve the situation in the country.

“After extensive considerations, North-Central APC Forum has given the President a pass mark on insecurity, appointments, infrastructure, economy and other areas.

“We stand firmly behind President Tinubu as his bold leadership has brought significant progress to our region, and we believe he is the right person to continue leading Nigeria towards greater prosperity.

“We urge all Nigerians to rally behind the President and support him for a second term, to enable his administration to deepen the gains of his reform policies.

“Just as we worked for his election in 2023, the North-Central APC Forum assures President Tinubu and all his supporters that we will again work for his reelection in 2027.”
