Onicha LGA: Open Letter To Gov. Nwifuru By Comr Eze Onyebuchi Chukwu | #IgbereTV

Dear Governor Francis Ogbonnaya Nwifuru. Thank you for your sense of justice, equity and fairness. Thank you for zoning the Onicha LGA chairmanship position to our dear state constituency Onicha East.

Your Excellency Sir, it's generally known that the essence of Constituency is for equal Political representation and easy development.

Onicha LGA like every other LGA's across the State/Nation has it's own constituencies comprising of Onicha east & Onicha west state constituencies. It is made up of five clans namely: Ukawu, Abaomege & oshiri at it's East and Onicha igboeze, Isuokoma at the West.

It's good to know that Ukawu from the East has led two times through chief Innocent Nwali, Isuokoma from West also took their turn twice through chief Donatus Njoku, Oshiri from Onicha East led through Late chief Obasi Nwode, and Isuokoma from West led through Barr. Nwanoke.

Going by the above, it is natural and justifiable at this time where the chairmanship position has been graciously zoned to Onicha East by Your Excellency to micro zone it to Abaomege being the only clan yet to lead the LGA since creation.

Considering the number of times Onicha West has lead and still leading through Chidiebere Obosi (Hon) from Onicha Igbeze, it is just that you zoned it to Onicha East.

Need I tell you that the only clan that has not led in this Onicha East is Abaomege not withstanding her enormous contribution to the oneness and economic growth of the LGA? Abaomege has neither gone for the LGA chairmanship nor the state Constituency Assembly Membership. It's obviously and undoubtedly Abaomege's turn to lead especially as Oshiri is occupying the State Assembly position through Hon Ogba Celestine

It's therefore justice for Abaomege to be given a chance to lead the LGA if for no other reason atleast to afford her some sense of belonging. Abaomege has been very supportive to the past and present leadership . Let us not forget her numerical strength which every past leader has leveraged on to win the LGA elections including the immediate past Senatorial bye election. She has also contributed in the economic growth of the LGA via it's huge internally Generated Revenue (IGR).

Are we speaking of Human resources? Abaomege has many of her vibrant Sons/daughters well qualified in all ramifications to lead the LGA and very well too. Going by the insecurity in the country , majorly caused by injustice, negligence and denials, its paramount and patriotic for every well meaning Indigene of Onicha LGA to rally round Abaomege by lending their voices to the voices calling for equity and justice for sustainable Peace in the LGA.

I therefore call on His excellency , Builder Francis Ogbonnaya Nwifuru to consider this tiny voice of mine and other voices of wisdom to give Abaomege the chance she sincerely deserves.

Let me use this Avenue to encourage all Abaomege sons and daughters to put aside their political differences and personal gains and for the first time speak with a voice as a people. ITS ABAOMEGE'S TURN.

Permit me to tag Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru

Yours Comr Eze Onyebuchi Chukwu,
National Youth Leader, APGA and Spokesman National Youth Leaders Forum of all political parties in Nigeria NYLFPPN.

Politics36 Assembly Speakers Endorse State Police by Man102(op): 6:32am On May 17, 2024
Speakers of the 36 Houses of Assembly across the country have endorsed ongoing work by the National Assembly to make provision for state policing in the nation’s constitution.

The speakers made their resolution known at the end of a meeting in Abuja on Thursday night.

Recall that the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, had rejected the call for state police.

According to him, Nigeria is not mature for state police.

Egbetokun stated this in April at a national dialogue on state police organised by the House of Representatives in Abuja.

The theme of the dialogue is ‘Pathways to Peace: Reimagining Policing in Nigeria’.

Egbetokun, who was represented by Ben Okolo, an Assistant Inspector-General of Police, said Nigeria is not ready for the establishment of state police.

“On the issue of state police, it is the submission of the leadership of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) that Nigeria is not yet mature and ready for the establishment of state-controlled police,” he said.

The IGP also claimed that state governors were likely to abuse the privilege of state police by using it for political gains, leading to possible abuse of power and abuse of human rights.

“State governors could use the police forces under their control for political or personal gain and undermine human rights and security. There would also be a conflict of jurisdiction,” he noted.

"I am Back From Prison And I Cannot Be Subdued Against The People" - PDP Publicity Secretary, Chika Nwoba

By Wisdom Nwedene ,Abakaliki

The Publicity of the People's Democratic Party, PDP, Ebonyi State Chapter, Nwoba Chika Nwoba has finally issued a statement following his release from Abakaliki Correctional Centre.

Our correspondent had reported that Mr Nwoba was released on Thursday afternoon.

Nwoba's ordeal started in February when he accused the Ebonyi State Commissioner for Commerce, Oguzor Offia-Nwali of embezzling money meant for hawkers in the State.

He was arrested in February following a petition by the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry in Ebonyi State, Oguzor Offia-Nwali.

Oguzor Offia-Nwali alleged that Mr Nwoba had in a series of posts on Facebook defamed him, threatened his life and falsely accused him of fraud and diversion of state government funds meant for the empowerment of petty traders in the state.

In a statement released on Thursday evening and seen by our correspondent, Nwoba said he is back from prison and will continue to advocate for the right things.

Nwoba said he cannot be subdued and efforts to force him post a funny writeup on his Facebook wall will hit the rock.

According to him, "I'm back from prison! I thank all the people who showed concerns about my incarceration online and offline. The list is endless. I won't be outlining the names here for reasons of privacy and space, but I'll reach out to everyone who played roles in ensuring that my freedom and wellbeing in prison were possible."

"I shall take my time and narrate my ordeals as I'm aware of some distorted facts with regard to my three months of incarceration. One of such was that I was tracked in Awka and picked. A very close friend of mine in Ebonyi released my sister's, worker's and wife's phone numbers to my traducers which led to getting me. Nobody tracked me. A friend I trusted sold me out. The 14 police officers tricked my sister to meet them from where she was coerced into inviting me to a police facility in Awka. That's by the way."

"I wasn't abandoned in prison. Tens of people visited me on a daily basis so much that prison people were surprised at my personality. I thank the media organizations that carried my news and made case for me. I thank members of the Ebonyi Prestigious Club for their concerted efforts towards my release. I also thank other civil society organizations and my Facebook community for all that they did for the three months period I was held down. God will bless every one of you. In fact, I'm grateful for all the efforts contributed towards my freedom. I had to stop a protest that was organized by my supporters in Abakaliki for their own safety, a confirmation of the fact that people showed concerns about me. All thanks to those who stood as sureties for me. Thanks to my lawyers for their efforts. Family members and more..."

"The three months in prison was worth it. There's nothing to regret about it. It's not true that I was taught a bitter lesson; no, it's false. People rallied round me in different ways. Prison authorities treated me fine. I stayed in a private room well furnished. The police never harassed me from Awka to Abakaliki. My being in prison has given birth to many good tidings for me such that I imagine what would have become of me if I had not found myself in prison. I thank God for my going to prison for the second time. I thank the Ebonyi State Government's fact- finding committee on the hawkers money as chaired by Chief Stanley Emegha. The committee did a nice job in unravelling how the money was retired into private pockets."

"God bless all you who showed concerns. I'll continue to advocate for the right things. We can't be subdued against the people. I'm back and much better now to continue from where we stopped. Efforts to force me post a funny writeup on my Facebook wall hit rock."

"Thanks, once more."

"Tinubu Is Over Taxing US" - Nigerians Cry Out Over Recent Cybersecurity Levy On All Bank Customers' Accounts

By Wisdom Nwedene

Mixed reactions have trailed recent Cybersecurity Levy which Nigerian commercial Banks have been ordered to deduct from all their customers.

9News Nigeria reports that the cybersecurity levy on all electronic transactions will start May 20, 2024, six years after it first issued the directive.

The deductions were to be remitted to the National Security Fund, which is being administered by the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA).

The deductions were to be effected on all electronic transactions consummated through commercial banks, merchant banks, non-interest banks, payment system banks, Other Financial Institutions (OFIs) mobile money operators and payment service providers. Failure to comply and remit within the stipulated timeframe will lead to a penalty of two per cent of the annual turnover of the institution.

On June 25, 2018, the apex bank had released guidelines for the collection of a 0.005 per cent levy on electronic transactions for the National Cybersecurity Fund, directing that the levy will take effect from 1st of July 2018. The directive however did not take off.

Consequently, in a circular dated May 6, 2024 and jointly signed by the CBN director of payments systems management, Chibuzor Efobi and Director, Financial Policy and Regulation, Haruna Mustafa, the CBN directed that banks in the country begin the deductions for onward remittance.

Speaking with 9News Nigeria correspondents, many Nigerians said Tinubu’s government is bent on over taxing Nigerians.

Mr Nnaemeka Ani described Tinubu’s government as a disaster. According to him, "Nothing is working in the country. The only thing they know is how to impoverished the masses."

A Nigerian Lawyer who spoke with 9News Nigeria correspondent, Mr Festus Oguche said which one is cyber security levy? Will it provides security against bandits,Boko Haram and kidnappers?.

A trader at popular International Market in Ebonyi State wondered why Tinubu’s government is over taxing people that are underpaid.

He said "You keep burdening people who are already over taxed, underpaid, underfed and barely surviving undecided."

Meanwhile, for the past nine months, Nigerians have been lamenting over the economic hardship in the country.

There Are Deliberate Attempts To Cripple My Government - Gov. Fubara Cries Out

Rivers State governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has alleged that there are fresh plans to cripple his government.

Fubara disclosed this during a meeting with members of the House of Representatives Committee on Public Petitions at the government house, Port-Harcourt.

The governor noted that leadership and respect is not earned by force.

He maintained it is the character and style of a leader that will encourage and engender the love and respect of the majority of the people.

Fubara noted that governance is solely about the interest of the people and leaving behind, good legacies; warning that power, no matter how long it is wielded will sure come to an end one day.

The federal lawmakers who were in the state to carry out an assignment thought it wise to visit the Governor and give him a few words of encouragement before they leave town.

Governor Fubara told them that as far as he was concerned there is no political crisis in the state.

Fibara declared that he will never buckle under any pressure especially the deliberate attempts being made to cripple his government.

Leadership, according to him, is about the touching the lives of the people positively.

“He added that the love and respect of the people can never be earned by force or intimidation.

Governor Fubara maintained that he would continue to empower the people and focus on building good legacies in the state.

Governor Fubara also used the opportunity to call on the National Assembly to defend what is right and speak out when things go wrong.

Politics2027: No Vacancy In Aso Rock – Ganduje Tells Opposition Parties by Man102(op): 7:25am On Apr 30, 2024
National Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, yesterday told the opposition parties that there was no vacancy in Aso Rock in 2027 when another general election will be due.

Ganduje said the administration of President Bola Tinubu had been contending with the accumulation of many years of neglect, policy summersaults and other disjointed decisions by previous administrations.

The APC national chairman made the assertions while addressing supporters and some support groups at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.

Ganduje urged the APC supporters and groups to be committed to the party so that it could continue to forge ahead.

He stated that the leadership of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and its chieftains were afraid, having been defeated in the last general election and already foreseeing another defeat.

Ganduje said the NNPP elements were now engaged in a propaganda campaign against the leadership of APC.

He said, “They are so afraid because we are consolidating. They are so afraid all over the country because we are receiving new entrants into our party. That is creating fears in their minds.

“They are already eyeing 2027, but at that time, there is no vacancy. Only our president, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, will, Insha Allah, continue as the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

Ganduje taunted the leadership of NNPP and its chieftains in Kano State, accusing them of sponsoring protests and campaigning for his removal as APC national chairman.

Describing NNPP as a party of failed and arrogant politicians, Ganduje added, “What they are doing is African magic drama in order to convey a failed programme and projects by failed politicians. We will not allow them to continue with that.

“They are also sponsoring pockets of diffident protest from all over the country. They are spending a huge amount of money in order for people to demonstrate against the leadership of our party. It is a complete failure from what we have seen all over the country.

“The whole drama, political rascality, started from Kano with the government. Instead of responding to the yearnings, needs, and demands of the people of Kano State, they decided to divert attention.

“Our eyes are on those who are diverting our attention to political propaganda against the APC. Can we allow them to continue like that? We understand what they are doing. It is a political drama.”

Ganduje further described NNPP as too insignificant to cause any political upset.

He stated, “They are a small party. They are a micro party. They are a party that is terribly defeated all over the country. It is a party that is breaking down. It is a party that is a mixture of failed politicians.

“If you follow what is happening in that party, you will find out that it is a party that is sharply divided between those who are authentic members of the party and those who are fake members of the party, individualistic and so arrogant in the management of the political party.”

PoliticsPDP Wins All Chairmanship Positions In Oyo State Local Government Elections by Man102(op): 6:30am On Apr 29, 2024
Candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) emerged victorious in all 33 Local Government Areas IN Saturday’s council election in Oyo State, as announced by the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC) on Sunday.

The results, declared amidst controversy over irregularities during the voting process, were announced at the Conference Hall of the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission in Agodi, Ibadan.

Mr. Isiaka Olagunju, the OYSIEC Chairman, affirmed the results and declared the PDP victorious after presenting results from all 33 local government areas where elections took place.

However, complaints have surfaced from some local government areas regarding discrepancies noticed during the electoral process.

These include issues such as the lateness of materials and personnel and the non-availability of necessary materials in some areas.

Allegations have also claimed that elections did not occur in certain wards, notably in Ibadan North, Ibadan South West, and parts of Saki in the Oke Ogun axis of the state.

Olagunju, while expressing gratitude to all electoral officers, party agents, and security agents involved in the process, acknowledged the need for improvement in certain areas.

He stated that a detailed report of the election would be presented to the state government once it is ready.

Meanwhile, the African Action Congress (AAC) has expressed dissatisfaction with the conduct of the local government elections and has called for its cancellation.

At a press conference held at the party office in Ibadan, the National Publicity Secretary of AAC, Fẹmi Adeyeye, alleged that the Oyo State government did not conduct a credible election.

The AAC also called on security agents to release its State Chairman and another member who were reportedly arrested during the election period.

The President Student Union Government of Ebonyi State University, Comrade Tobias Oshim has finally reacted to the allegation levelled against him by the Senate over alleged embezzlement of 3 Million Naira fund meant for students.

In a statement made available to IGBERE TV on Saturday, Comr. Oshim said the money was never transferred to his personal account as the money is still intact and yet to disbursed to the students.

"Following the allegations leveled against the SUG President of Ebonyi State University, Comr. Nkwegu Tobias Oshim, the President has briefed his team and the entire Presidency this morning with the following key points:

1. The funds released recently, post the university's convocation ceremony, have yet to be decided upon by the union leadership. This discussion was delayed due to the convocation and its aftermath.

2. The funds allocated for the payment of indigenous students' bursary school fees are still intact and will be disbursed once the committee issues the disbursement guidelines.

3. The allegations from the Senate are deemed unwarranted and uncalled for, as they appear to be aimed at defamation and soliciting public sympathy. Claims of embezzlement or misappropriation of funds seem to stem from the unofficial stance of the Senate President, Comr. Usulor Marvelous, who purportedly requested cash disbursement of the bursary. In contrast, the SUG President, Comr. Nkwegu Tobias Oshim, insisted on direct payment to the university account without any cash disbursement. He emphasized his stance with the statement, "No cash gifting this time."

4. Comr. Nkwegu advised the Senate to refrain from continuous defamation and disgraceful actions against the reputation of the Students Union Government of Ebonyi State University. He urged the Legislative Council to adopt an investigative approach rather than relying on unverified claims. Additionally, he suggested that the Senate focus more on advocacy efforts that would enhance the welfare of the union and its student representatives. He also highlighted the Senate's oversight of the fact that the Union Government President still uses a motorcycle and keke to serve the students.

In conclusion, the SUG President emphasized that the Senate should not allow themselves to become instruments of defamation for financial gain but should instead prioritize the best interests of the students. "

TravelFive Killed, Over 70 Cars Burnt As Tanker Explodes In Rivers by Man102(op): 11:04am On Apr 27, 2024
No fewer than five persons have been killed and over 70 cars burnt in the tanker explosion at the East-West Road in Rivers State on Friday, April 26.

The multiple explosion occurred at the Eleme section of the East-West Road in Rivers State on Friday night.

An eyewitness who gave his name as Baridi said the incident followed a petrol-laden tanker which collided with a heavy-duty truck, spilling its contents and bursting into flames.

He said the fire spread to a long stretch of vehicles plying the Akpajo-Onne Road following the gridlock which is a usual occurrence on the road now under construction.

“You know that because of the bad road, there is no alternative route so many vehicles were caught in the fire,” Baridi told Punch.

“Some people inside their vehicles who tried to escape the fire were trapped in the fire and died.”

A motorist said: “I was approaching Akpajo bridge when I saw a thick hold-up. While I and other drivers tried to move further we saw people running and shouting fire, fire.

“So it was difficult for me even to reverse my vehicle. We meandered and packed somewhere. Only for us to come back and see that more than 100 vehicles were burnt. There are people burnt in their vehicles and some people running were also caught in the inferno.”

He blamed the tragedy on the reconstruction of the road which, according to him, had worsened the gridlock.

“Yes they are working on the road which is good but they should also create access. Not the way they are doing it. First, they should be fast about it and secondly, the contractor should know that vehicles are using the road. Otherwise, this would not have happened,” he added.

Confirming the casualty figure, the spokesperson for the State Police Command, Grace Iringe-Koko, said: “For now about five persons are dead. The Commissioner of Police and his team were on the ground last night to ensure there is no breakdown of law and order.”

It was gathered that Governor Siminalayi Fubara would be visiting the scene of the explosion to see things for himself on Saturday.

PoliticsSowore Asks EFCC To Prosecute U.S. School For Collecting Dollars From Bello by Man102(op): 10:50am On Apr 27, 2024
Omoyele Sowore, a prominent Nigerian activist, has called for the prosecution of the American International School (AIS) in Abuja for alleged money laundering involving former Kogi state governor Yahaya Bello and his former Chief of Staff, Ali Bello.

In a post on X, Sowore alleged that Bello and his aide laundered close to $1 million under the guise of paying “future school fees” for their children at AIS.

He argued that similar to the American justice system, the AIS should face charges instead of simply refunding the money.

He further urged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to ensure that the school discloses all such payments made by Politically Exposed Persons (PEPs). Sowore believes that investigating such payments could reveal widespread financial misconduct and calls for AIS to be converted into a public school if found guilty.

His words: “The American International School @AISAbuja , where fugitive former Kogi state governor Yahaya Bello @OfficialGYBKogi and his former Chief of Staff, Ali Bello, laundered close to $ 1 million in the name of paying “future school fees” of their wards should be charged and prosecuted for money laundering instead of being allowed to refund the money.

“This is the way the American justice system treats such cases on US soil, the @officialEFCC must also ensure the school discloses all such school fees paid by Politically Exposed Persons (PEPs).

“I am sure there are a lot of discoveries that would be uncovered such that the school could be converted to a public school instead of its criminal connivance with financial criminals fleecing the Nigerian public across board, these must necessary apply to these ultra-expensive private schools in Nigeria.”

PoliticsAPC Fails To Reconcile Ondo Aspirants As Ibrahim, Oke, Others Shun Photograph by Man102(op): 8:20am On Apr 26, 2024
The first meeting between the national chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, and aggrieved aspirants from the Ondo State primary election concluded without a resolution on Thursday.

Party officials, however, announced that the dialogue would persist until a resolution is found.

The primary election, held on April 20 and 21, saw Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa emerge victorious, defeating 15 other aspirants.

However, six aspirants, including Senator Jimoh Ibrahim and Olusola Oke, contested the outcome, filing petitions challenging Aiyedatiwa’s victory.

To address the discord, Ganduje summoned the aspirants, including Aiyedatiwa, for reconciliation ahead of the November 16 governorship election in Ondo State. Although some aspirants were absent, Governor Aiyedatiwa and 14 others attended the meeting.

During the session, Ganduje urged the aspirants to prioritize the party’s interest and unity, drawing from his political journey. However, despite appeals for cooperation, none of the aggrieved aspirants agreed to withdraw their petitions.

Some of the aspirants like Ibrahim, Oke and former finance commissioner, Wale Akintetirinwa also shunned the photograph session after the meeting.

Addressing reporters after the meeting, the APC’s deputy national publicity secretary, Duru Meseko, stated that the party would continue engaging with the aspirants to find common ground for the upcoming election.

PoliticsU.S. Criticizes ‘Arbitrary Arrests’ Of Godwin Emefiele And Nnamdi Kanu by Man102(op): 5:46pm On Apr 25, 2024
The United States Government has criticized the arbitrary arrests of Godwin Emefiele, the former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, and Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), by security personnel in Nigeria.

In its ‘2023 Country Reports on Human Rights Practices: Nigeria,’ published Tuesday on the U.S. Department of State’s website, the U.S. highlighted concerns about lengthy pre-trial detention, denying detainees access to court, and frustrating the country’s judicial system.

The report revealed that in the prosecution of corruption cases, law enforcement and intelligence agencies did not always follow due process, resulting in the arrest of suspects without appropriate arrest and search warrants.

Regarding Emefiele’s case, the report detailed that he was detained by the Department of State Services (DSS) “for investigative reasons” on June 10.

Although a Federal High Court in Lagos granted him bail on July 25, ordering him to be held at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre until bail was made, the DSS attempted to arrest him again, leading to a confrontation between DSS agents and Nigerian Correctional Service officers.

Similarly, Nnamdi Kanu, designated as a leader of a government-designated terrorist organization, IPOB, was detained by the DSS on national security grounds.

Despite being charged with treason, terrorism, and illegal possession of firearms, Kanu fled abroad in 2017 after skipping bail, only to be arrested and returned to Nigeria in 2021.

In 2022, an appeal court in Abuja dropped all charges against Kanu and ordered his release, but the federal government appealed.

The Supreme Court overturned the appeals court ruling on December 15, stating that Kanu faced terrorism charges despite acknowledging rights violations during his arrest and extradition. Kanu remained incarcerated at the year’s end.

The report also highlighted challenges within Nigeria’s judicial system, including a shortage of trial judges, trial backlogs, endemic corruption, bureaucratic inertia, and undue political influence.

It said delays in cases were exacerbated by logistical issues, such as the need for more vehicles to transport detainees to court and authorities losing case files.

Overall, the U.S. expressed concerns about Nigeria’s judicial system’s inadequacies, emphasizing the need for fair and transparent legal processes to uphold human rights.

PoliticsProtesters Storm APC Secretariat, Demand Ganduje’s Resignation by Man102(op): 2:36pm On Apr 25, 2024
Scores of demonstrators on Thursday stormed the national secretariat of the All Progressives Congress in Abuja to demand the resignation of the National Chairman, Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, following his recent suspension by a faction of his ward executives and the alleged bribery allegation levelled against him by the Kano State government.

Chanting solidarity songs and displaying several banners that read, “Ganduje must resign” and “Return the APC chairmanship to North Central,” the protesters appealed to President Bola Tinubu and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, to consider returning the leadership of the party to their region.

The agitation comes two days after the Forum of APC State Chairmen passed a vote of confidence on Ganduje and backed him to remain as national chairman.

The delegation of 37 state chairmen gave the endorsement during a solidarity visit to the national secretariat of the party.

The former governor had recently been slammed with a fresh suspension by a faction of the Ganduje Ward in Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area of Kano, an action the ruling party said was carried out by some impostors allegedly being sponsored by the state government.

Addressing newsmen in Abuja, the protesters under the aegis of Concerned North Central APC Stakeholders lamented that the continued stay of Ganduje in office was a clear violation of the zoning process in the party.

Leader of the demonstrators, Mohammed Mahmud Saba, disclosed that, unlike the 37 APC state chairmen, his people in the North Central have passed a vote of no confidence on the national chairman and equally demanded his immediate resignation.

Saba reiterated that the people of North Central felt betrayed when the position of APC national chairman was hijacked from them following the exit of Senator Abdullahi Adamu despite giving Tinubu the third highest votes after North West and South West at the 2023 presidential election.

He said, “We the North Central APC Concerned Stakeholders have resolved to unanimously agitate for our right and reclaim our mandate which was handed unto us by the National Convention of our great Party in 2022. Various sections of our constitution have established the procedure of replacing an executive member at all levels of the party in the event of death, resignation, incapacitation or expulsion from the party by any executive member.

“It is a fact that the emergence of Dr. Umar Ganduje as national chairman was done against the spirit and soul of the APC which is the constitution of our great party. This singular act has impacted negatively on us as a people in the North Central. We feel betrayed and spited because we gave His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the third highest votes after North West and South West in the country which put us in a better position to enjoy the fruit of our labour.

“We, therefore, demand that Dr Umar Ganduje resign immediately and stop parading himself as the National Chairman of our great party; the zoning arrangements made by the National Convention in 2022, which zoned the office of the national chairman to the North Central be respected by the NEC and all other organs of the party and that all governors elected on the platform of the APC in the North Central should wake up from their slumber and mobilize their members against this impunity until Ganduje resigns as the national chairman.”

Politics₦‎8 Billion Probe : Ex-aviation Minister Hadi Sirika Spends Second Night In EFCC by Man102(op): 7:17am On Apr 25, 2024
N8 billion Probe : Ex-aviation Minister Hadi Sirika Spends Second Night In EFCC Custody

Former Minister of Aviation, Captain Hadi Sirika, has spent his second consecutive night in the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) custody as investigations continue into an alleged N8,069,176,864.00 money laundering probe.

Sources within the EFCC, who requested anonymity due to the matter’s sensitivity, confirmed that Sirika is being questioned about the controversial Nigeria Air project, which has raised concerns nationwide.

The probe aims to unravel the failed project’s circumstances and the extent of financial mismanagement involved.

“The interrogators are also probing Mr. Sirika over the controversial Nigeria Air project that failed. Though the commission is yet to uncover the total amount that was expended on the project, however, investigation is ongoing, and Sirika would be arraigned in court next week as charges are being prepared against him,” a source told Punch.

Another source disclosed, “The former Minister of Aviation is still with us. Sirika slept over here at our FCT Command on Tuesday night, and he’s still with us this Wednesday night, as he’s still being grilled by interrogators.”

The EFCC had earlier revealed alleged fraudulent practices within the Aviation Ministry under Sirika’s tenure, including awarding contracts to companies, one of which reportedly belongs to his younger brother, Abubakar Sirika.

Sirika arrived at the EFCC’s Federal Capital Territory Command on Tuesday afternoon and has since been undergoing intensive questioning regarding his involvement in the alleged fraudulent contracts awarded to Engirios Nigeria Limited, a company owned by his sibling.

The former minister’s detention follows mounting pressure and scrutiny surrounding his tenure as Aviation Minister, particularly regarding the Nigeria Air project and the allocation of contracts.
