nairalanda1: 1.Yatch costs about 5 billion naira. Note that I was angry about the purchase too myself.
2. Hajj costs for last year's hajj were 13.1 billion naira. Again I don;t think government should be supporting pilgrimage, have held that view since I was a teenager.
3. Petrol subsidy costs for the first 5 months of 2023 amounted to 6 trillion naira alone. In 2022, government spent `10 trillion naira on fuel subsidy. Between October 2023-feb 2024, tinubu was spending N800-1000 billion naira monthly to keep fuel at N600-700 at the pump.
Yatch plus hajj money can't pay for even one month of subsidy payments.
See the problem. ? this is what govt told you. It's always normal to give a black sheep negative name just to nail it. Subsidy on fuel imported or subsidy on fuel drilled from Niger Delta and sold to Dangote? Just the same way they keep telling us subsidy on power even when Nigerian homes do not have power. You're still failing to answer my question. Why is fuel more expensive in Nigeria than USA and UK? The yatch and pilgrimage aspect is just to let you know the monumental wastage in the system. Why should a govt who claim not to have money for subsidy to make life better for the citizens engage in such jamboree? This is just a little compared to the huge waste. You and I have seen campaign cars on the social media. Are those cars free? |

nairalanda1: Here is how subsidy killed our refineries.
Petrol has a cost price. When the cost price is below the production price, government pays a subsidy to prevent the sector from going down the drain due to losses.
The problem is, subsidy payments do not guarantee the sector makes enough of a profit to fix and upgrade refineries on a consistent basis over the years. Also, from the Nigerian persepctive, we tax too little of our gdp, and most of our earnings comes from oyel...whose prices are not where we want them to be all the time. (right now, if we want to pay subsides AND have working refineries, oil has to cost 150 dollars or more at the international market per barrel).
So, over the years, subsidy costs have risen, and government can't keep up. That means lower money for refineries to conduct upgrades. From 1994, Nigeria was skipping TAM maintenance until the refineries became a wreck, that any recent TAM was just painting a shipwreck and pretending it was a working vessel.
Add corruption, and so forth, here we are in 2026 with four damaged refineries.
Ghana does not subsidze fuel, and has sold fuel at a profit for decades, and as a result, it has working refineries. Same for Niger republic. this your analysis is best suited for illiterates who don't know about the workings of an economy. Subsidy is not good, but the president can buy yatch, subsidy is not good but the president can sponsor pilgrimage to hajj. Keep your sermons Pls |

nairalanda1: When petrol prices were low...we were paying for them with more debt and even more debt.
And the loss of 4 refinereis.
I am not here to defend tinubu. I think that subsidy should have gone since 2012, and with hindsight since 1993. I have been supporting subsidy removal since 2011. una go just open mouth dey talk waaaa. Is Nigeria the only country with fuel and subsidising it? So subsidy killed our local refineries? Would you have said same if a northerner was the president? Nigeria produces more fuel than UK, but the price of fuel in Nigeria is more expensive than UK. Please explain this to a kid. |

k2fresh: Good evening guys. Please I am a novice in the solar world.i recently bought a hithium 2kwh portable power station online. Before buying the unit I read reviews online that it charges from 0-100% in 2 and half hours.on getting the unit I faced difficulty in charging it as it refuse to charge with nepa light.
I was recommended to buy a stabilizer.I bought a firman 2000VA stabilizer. After purchasing the stabilizer it started charging but it charges intermittently. It charges for 5mins stop charging for 5mins,charges for 2mins stops charging for 3mins.To cut a long story short it charges very poorly.A unit that suppose to be fully charged in about 2 and a half hours now takes 6 hours plus and nobody would give you electricity for 6hours straight where I live.
I felt probably the electricity in the area I lived was very poor so I took it to my shop which is very far away from my home to charge but still same story.I am so full of regrets right now. I am thinking of buying a 5000VA stabilizer to try it with but I'm not sure if it would work or I would just be wasting my 160k.
Please anybody with experience with hithium power station should please help me.Should I buy the 5kva stabilizer or just return the unit as a faulty unit or is it how it usually operates. Please help guys. so sorry about your experience. However, the device is not faulty, rather it's the power in your area that is faulty. The voltage entering the device is poor or fluctuates too much. Check the settings on the stabilizer you bought, you might need to press a button to increase the voltage range on the stabilizer. Moreover, why are you buying stabilizer when all you need is a solar panel? Please don't buy another stabilizer. Get a good solar panel Jinko, JA or any good one of around 585-600w. Send me your WhatsApp number to be added to a WhatsApp group on powerstation. |

Reference: How can you describe money coming into your account. Isn't it when you send money you annotate.
This will be a recurring problem particularly amongst the less literate or tech savvy for a long while to come and trust Nigeria, at the end one side will have to give up and find another way to tax Nigerians.
In an economy where employment is low and dependency is high, a lot of transactions will remain indescribable. rather than carryout a thorough census of businesses operating in Nigeria to determine the taxable ones, we are busy designing policies that won't work. What is difficult in creating a website for Nigerian businesses who are not registered to immediately get themselves registered withing a timeframe, then send out agents for physical verication of the claims made by these businesses. |

You guys should stop using this description stuff to keep Nigerians busy. the whole narration is just funny to me. Where on earth do citizens need to use narration compulsorily for transactions? Pure hogwash. There are better ways to tax businesses and citizens, not all these account credit and debit noise. |

Reference: They are good players needing good coordination. Chelsea should learn to embrace and live with good quality coaches and at the same time learn to discard poor quality ones in a timely manner. This they have not managed in the last decade. this temporary coach is way better than Maresca. Even without Caicedo he was able to organise the midfield. The substitutions he did impacted the game. Maresca will make changes and even spoil the entire match with it. |

Only the driver will be aware that he is speeding, especially when guys are inside the vehicle. They will not know, sir. Except when the guys check the speedometer, in which case the men are unfamiliar with Nigerian reckless driving habits. They are foreigners who are unfamiliar with Nigeria, so they trust the driver to be professional. I am sure they paid a company to provide them the driver. Or can be a family member of AJ's friend.
The best way to proceed is to determine how the driver is contracted to drive them. If he is a family member, he may be prosecuted alone; however, if the service is paid for, both the driver and the company should be prosecuted. the AC own, you're so spot on. Anytime I drive with AC my eyes is always on my speedometer. The moment I see it drifting towards 100 or past it, I slow down immediately. ACs are actually deceptive. |

Fubara knows nothing about politics. I hope he's at least doing something about developing Rivers State because I can't remember the last time I read state-sponsored development projects in that state.
