Let me break it down from a few angles:

1. The Biblical Account:

According to the Bible (Genesis), Adam and Eve were the first human beings.

They had children: Cain, Abel, Seth, and "other sons and daughters" (Genesis 5:4).

The Bible is not very detailed about early human population expansion. It focuses mainly on key figures rather than listing every human.

Some theologians suggest that Cain married one of his sisters or nieces (not considered incestuous back then because the "genetic pool" was supposedly purer).


But still, you raise a good point: when Cain is worried about "anyone" killing him, it suggests a larger population already exists — beyond just immediate family.
This leads to the idea that there could have been other humans either:

Created separately by God (not mentioned in Genesis), OR

Evolved naturally over time (theistic evolution — some religious people believe God oversaw evolution).

In other words:
Science suggests we all share a common ancestry — but not necessarily in the way Genesis describes (a literal Adam and Eve only, 6,000 years ago).


3. The Logical/Philosophical View:

If you take Genesis symbolically, Adam and Eve can represent the first conscious humans — the ones given morality, reason, and accountability by God.

Cain's fear then could make sense: he’s afraid of other early humans, not necessarily siblings only.

4. My Take:

I personally think the core message of Genesis is about human nature: our tendency to choose between good and evil, our relationships, our need for God — rather than a strict biology textbook.

Whether Adam and Eve were literal or symbolic, the idea that all humanity is interconnected (even Trump being your "brother" in that sense!) is powerful.

But logically and scientifically, the idea that only two people led to billions without any other source is extremely difficult to accept without adding other explanations (e.g., other early humans, evolution).

A little about my background. I was raised as a religious Christian and made to read the Bible from start to end continuously on a yearly basis. This deep studying exposed me to seeing the many inconsistencies in the Bible and question my beliefs.

I also spent some time studying some other religious texts from Islam(English versions of Quran and haddiths), Buddhism and some Hinduism, before accepting Atheism as what works for me.

My utmost desire is to raise my children as straight up Atheists, no need wasting thing on fake concepts like religions, but at same time with good morals(logical, truthful, kind, trustworthy, and a couple of good societal values).

But I've been wondering whether it's ideal to expose them to religious texts, so they can easily see the fallacies of religions or to completely ignore religious texts and focus on scientific reasoning and logic?
