The problem with the many sects and many interpretations is people mistakenly worship Jesus of Nazareth instead of the Christ that was within him , which is in every man as well.

That means you act like the kingdom of God is within you. So the next time you have a thought, ask yourself - is this what christ would think about this situation? This to me , is the only way to have this personal relationship on a level that deals directly on the mental plane and not the physical plane

ECK simply means The Holy Spirit, the pure essence of God. it is God in expression and is indeed the repository of all truth. the Teaching of ECKANKAR is geared towards becoming one with the ECK. for that is the destiny of Soul. and the process of becoming one with the ECK involves the ego and lower selves coming under the total control of soul. Soul through the divine grace of the ECK is now able to take charge of the lower bodies and the ego instead of the lower bodies and ego controlling Soul. A soul that has become one with the ECK will manifest the fruits of the Holy spirit which include charity, patience, contentment, tolerance, humility and kindness to all other souls.
whereas a soul that is under the control of the ego or lower bodies will manifest negative passions of the mind like lust, anger, vanity, greed, hatred, jealousy, envy, etc.

Well spoken. Full mergence into the ECK is the goal. But to gain the Self or Atman , the lower self or ego has to willingly surrender - aka change its perception about itself.
chanting HU brings about peace of mind BUT does not tackle the real problem of wrong thinking.

I can chant HU for an hour and fall right back in the first minute after meditation into negative states of worry and fear which are just manifestations of the ego perception.
As a realized being , man becomes naturally silent and STILL so he can KNOW for himself that GOD IS OMNIPRESENT and the KINGDOM IS WITHIN.
So in essence,the question i have is this - Is there any spiritual exercise in the ECKANKAR repository that deals with the complete surrender of man's perception? Because chanting HU in my opinion still poses one biiiiiigggg problem - I still think I am I , praying or singing to an I that is outside of myself.

Tithing is the physical aspect of a spiritual law

Whatsoever a man sows , that he will reap.
Tithing is the giving of 10% of your talents to the kingdom of God.

Tongues speaking was a gift of d holy spirit which enabled early christians back then to preach in a language(tongue) other than their own.

Before the birth of christianity, God had a covenant relationship with man but that was to change as the old Law was to be replaced with the new law enacted by d blood of Jesus and henwas no longer dealing with humans on d basis of the old law but thru d newly formed christian congregation after Christ's death and ressurection. To convince many that the congregation had His backing, he uses gifts of d spirit such as tongues- 1 Corinthians 14:22.

The gift of speaking served another purpose. During the time of Jesus there was no printing and broadcasting to relay messages to a mass audience as we ve now. Also, there was d issue of language barrier which wud hamper d spread of d gospel of God's will and purpose. To overcome these challenges, tongues speaking filled that need.

Please open ur Bible to read Acts 2:1-11 but with emphasis on verses 6-11 where you wud observe that the tongues spoken where in d real sense of it real languages that were understood by other people who spoke the language not some senseless and meaningless words spoken by ALL tongues speaking pentecostal churches. That way, people cud hear the message of God in their own native language. If u read Acts2:41 u would see that d result of tongues speaking was the 3,000 converts who would now carry witj them to whereever they went the message of goodnews or gospel fulfilling what Christ said in Acts1:8 and what Paul said in Colossians 1:23.

Again, lets examine tongue speaking in the time of early christians and the ones of our time which for me is mere rambling of meaningless words which is tantamount to noise which I recall in my High school class is an unpleasant noise.

Read also 1 Corinthians 14:5-33,40 but lay emphasis on 5,11,12,13,19,26-28,31,33,40.
You would realise that when tongues are spoken then it must be interpreted. If no interpretation the tongue speaker has achieved nothing.
Also in verse 31, people cant speak in tongues simultaneously (at the same time) it would make d place rowdy/noisy/disorderly/chaotic as the gathering of barbarians. And the God true christians worship is a God or order as verse 33 shows and so christians must worship God in an orderly manner as verse 40 shows. Not the simultaneous noise making of all in the pentecostal churches we see today, people rambling making noise uttering words they nor their listeners understand and as such cannot interpret what the blabbed which is required.

Now in our time, we ve a well developed printing and broadcasting technology that has overcome the language barrier. The spread of d goodnews is no longer impeded by language barrier as the Bible is now printed in all the living languages spoken today. We even have d Braille for the blind and some bibles have sign language for d deaf. Beinh an ardent admirer of Jehovah's Witnesses the have their publications in about 800 languanges and have a mobile application called "JW LIBRARY" in about 800 languages. If u doubt me u can download it and u wud be amazed at its unique features. Even their website www.jw.org is in many languages as well so making tongues speaking obsolete.
Also , they ve many missionaries who ve taken up the challenge of leaening bew languages so they could reach people who speak that language with d gospel.

As Paul said in 1Corinthians 13:1-13, the gifts of speaking in tongues and other gifts of d holy spirit would pass away with time. This is because as d christian congregation was still in its baby or infant stage, extraordinary gifts of the spirit was needed to convince people of God's approval of the christian congregation but as time went by and it grew beyond the babe stage, the traits of babes has to be put way and as such these gifts are no longer required. They ve outlived their purpose.

Hence, we should not be arried away with all these fake pentecostal churches. Look at what d Bible says Matthew 7:21-23, 2Thessolonians 2:8-10

The physical body of the Son of Mary was around 30 years but the INNER BODY of Jesus which is in all of us , is IMMORTAL

Jesus came to show people how to become ONE with this INNER SELF.

A man in a coma is still breathing. Despite not being consciously aware of his body , someone or something still breathes for him. Who is this person?
When you sleep , you forget your body. Yet you still breathe. That means there is an extra aspect of you that intelligently keeps you alive.

Think of it. You just gave out Carbon dioxide. Yet your nostrils intelligently avoid the Co2 around and takes in oxygen.
Conscious union with this 'natural state' or 'Other side of man' is the goal of going within.

After deciding to 'TAKE NO THOUGHT' or 'GO INTO THE WILDERNESS' , the Devil comes as ego or THOUGHTS OF FEAR and tries to shake my concentration.
Immediately , i don't try to RESIST THIS EVIL BUT RATHER KNOW THE TRUTH ABOUT MY IDENTITY AT THAT PRESENT NOW.
And the truth is - I am FILLED WITH LIFE
- THIS LIFE IS THE ORIGINAL LIFE
- THIS LIFE IS OMNIPOTENT . . . therefore i can only be afraid if the ORIGINAL LIFE is not OMNIPOTENT.
- .... and they shall know the truth , and the truth shall set em free
- This makes it easier to practice BREATH MEDITATION. This is also called pure prayer.
- Pure prayer is TAKING THOUGHT ONLY for this original life.
- 'Worship the lord thy God and him only shall thou serve'
- For every breath you take , just thank the GOD WITHIN YOU AND WITHOUT for giving you his life.
- For all you know you could just stop breathing and there is nothing anybody can do about it.
- This thought gradually leads to the state of no-thought or inner stillness.
- 'He lead me BESIDE THE STILL WATERS'

Remember, there is Only one original life and every man , Christian or Muslim, pagan or Hindu is filled with this life.

- The next logical question is WHO AM I, NOW?

- Therefore to KNOW WHAT I AM , i have to INVESTIGATE THIS time called NOW THOROUGHLY and get to KNOW WHAT IS ALWAYS PRESENT.

- The ONLY THING PRESENT to the INDIVIDUAL in the NOW is the AWARENESS of himself.

- This is a kind of PURE AWARENESS that is DEVOID of words. YOU just KNOW , THAT YOU ARE.

- Words or thoughts come and go but this awareness always stays in the background like The director on a movie set.

- Meditation is ABIDING AS this PURE AWARENESS , FREE from thoughts of the FUTURE or PAST.

- You are not running from the world but changing your fighting stance.

- To the INDIVIDUAL, the PAST and the FUTURE is just a NOW that has PASSED and a NOW yet to COME respectively. There is only NOW to this individual.

Practice
- CLOSE YOUR EYES and JUST BE.
- Don't THINK about it. The time you TAKE TO THINK , is a NOW that you DENY.
- Thoughts would come as usual to distract you , but ask yourself? Are these THOUGHTS originating from NOW, the PAST or the FUTURE?
- Keep on noting to yourself, whether the thoughts currently in your mind space are from the PAST or FUTURE
- If you suddenly notice you have stopped noting , congratulations! You just managed to slip a finger into the Now

Lets all try to see life through the eyes of a baby as he wakes to the second day of his existence. What do you see? Challenge your imagination

That state is the goal or in this case the Being. It is not a thought process but rather AWARENESS IN PRESENT CONTINUOUS TENSE.

Meditation is a valuable tool but not every mind is easily tethered so creative methods have to be employed.
The disciple says obey the sabbath
The knower says the Sabbath is made for man

The key is to be aware by not denying the Now. There is only now. The past is just a Now that has as the name implies 'passed'. The future is also a Now that is not yet , so how can it be real?
Investigate this until you are very sure that the only time available to you is now.

So , the goal is AWARENESS IN PRESENT CONTINUOUS TENSE or NOW. Here is a simple exercise with a catharsis that every man can relate to.

Select 5 of your favourite slow songs and put them on a playlist.
This exercise is best done in a place where you would not be disturbed. Also , HEADSETS are HIGHLY recommended.
Now , determine to be COMPLETELY STILL throughout the duration of the playlist.
This is how to know if one is really free or just a slave.
STILL in this context means both the physical and mental aspects of YOU.
Close the eyes, and try to be as still as possible. Now focus all your attention on the song.
Determine to never lose track of the song.
If you find yourself thinking of what to do tomorrow or what happened in the past , you have lost.
Be honest with yourself. If you lose just once , then you have to start all over again. 5 songs is an average of 15 minutes. Challenge yourself

After the playlist stops , try to hold the focus that you put on the song on your breathing.
The songs must have put your brain on the good vibes frequency , so when you focus on the breath , it is with love and love is the only law.
After some time , remove the focus off the breath and just hold the focus only. In English , this would be described as BEING AWARE THAT YOU ARE AWARE or pure awareness or as athletes call it , the FLOW STATE.

exactly. it is good you came to the realization by yourself. Now when you try to hear your thoughts for the first time , you'll discover pure silence and notice that this silence has a sound. just continue following this inner sound until it takes you back home

All in all , use your ears and try to hear how your thoughts SOUND like. You'll immediately settle and can continue your meditation

Concentration produces STRONG attention. But the key is , where does your ATTENTION LIE?
If you knew the soil would grow any seed[thought] no matter how bad you were or are. What would you plant??

Obviously, the very best. And the very best thought has to be LOVE OR GRATITUDE for the Original CAUSE or popular know as GOD.
'Love thy Lord With all thy HEART[Emotional brain], AND ALL THY MIND[Logical Brain] - Even the bible acknowledges the existence of two brains. We use the logical brain to enter the realm of feeling - In this case , a feeling of gratitude for ALL THAT IS.

This contemplation can be done absolutely anywhere. In fact, the crowded areas are even more favorable.

No much talk , practice makes perfect

- Steady yourself with a couple of deep breaths.
- Observe everything you see , physically and mentally [thought]
- Ask yourself, is this cause or effect?
- Then mentally follow the effect down to its root.
- As you get better , slowly start QUESTIONING every thought to know its CAUSE.

- First off , i consider ALL THE PEOPLE involved in the process. From cutting the tree , to transporting it , to even those that built roads which were used to transport them. I also consider THERE LINEAGES till the very first which HAD TO COME FROM GOD or FIRST CAUSE.
- Next , i consider all the NATURAL MIRACLES involved in the process. The ORIGINAL SEED , the WONDERS OF THE SOIL , THE EFFECT OF RAIN AND SUN ON THE GROWTH OF THIS TREE. Consequently i have to contemplate the Sun and the earth and the rain to fully see the life of this chair.
- This us just an example and i have not even started considering the other aspects of the chair like TECHNOLOGY INVOLVED which obviously attracts contemplation about INTELLIGENCE. Be creative with it. Think about the WHOLE CHAIR , WITH ALL THE PARTS. NAILS , EVERYTHING.

It must not necessarily be a chair. This is just to give your intellect an idea of how to use mental association to understand the magnificence of the First Cause.

As you progress , start doing this to HUMANS AS WELL. Try to view the CAUSE not the EFFECT.
