I thought [b]The Fight Of Faith [/b]was fought when Christians begin to lose thier faith in their religion due to them beginning to question their beliefs or maybe to many negative things happening in their life that they believe shoudn't be happening to them. So they fight their feelings to stay faithful.

we love myths more than others i guess. anyway our entire system is completely disfunctional so people need a shoulder to cry on or some form of hope( a god is the only rational thing that can be accepted by most people). coupled with our endless and meaningless fear. fear of death, fear of the future and fear of the unknown. there is no magic portion in the bible or koran, 80 percent of nigerian christians have never read the bible or the koran in full to understand what they are really saying. 80 percent of the christians and moslems in nigeria do not know how the bible was written, complied, editted, translated and its history.

90 percent of nigerian moslems do not know that the koran was written hundreds of years after the death of mohammed, they dont know its history how it was complied and stuffs like that. so many christians do not know that the bible as we have it today was not assembled until about 350 years after the alleged death of jesus. they don't know that most of the authours of the books of the bible are unknown and that so many of the books were written long after the events they portrayed happened example the book of daniel. some of the books were written by unblievers but were editted by the jews much later example the book of eccleciates. some were a collection of prayers and poems from different people over a long peroid of time(pslams). books like proverbs are a collection of wise saying including those of unbelievers(which is even written in the book it self but most people dont even realise) over a long peroid of time. most nigerians christian do not know that pauls letters predate the gospels.they dont know that the gospels were written 40- 100 years after the alleged death of christ by unknown greek writers who were not eye witness to any of the events that they wrote about. most dont know that the gospels were originally written in greek by very educated wirters not the illetrate hebrew deciples of jesus who never spoke greek. most people dont know anything with regards to their religion they just follow blindly because it gives them so form of comfort and hope of an after life. beside delusion and bubble are very nice experiences.

My brotha you may be suprised to know that a lot of biblical christians share a lot of the sentiments you expressed above. We do care along with you that 'religion' in Naija is for the most part negatively affecting the nation. We do care just as much as you do.
The thing is most atheists throw a blanket and condemn all things christian. So much good, so much work and charity is done by true christians practicing true religion all around the world. But most atheists turn a blind eye to that and instead focus solely on the famous pastors aka wolves in sheeps clothing saying "this is what christianity is". This to me is an intellectually dishonest position, they are obviously mostly emotionally driven and it immediately takes away any credibility from the atheist.

  These atheists chanting "death to religion", how many people have they themselves clothed? fed? helped? housed? for these people they supposedly 'care' so much about? I'm not saying they shouldn't condemn wrongdoing when they see it, but the way most of them go about it here on these boards shows their motive is not anything close to compassion or care, but moreso a public show of their unhealthy obsession and hatred for religion.

Jesoul you do not have to be religious to help the needy. A lot of people help raise money for charity not because the bible say this or the bible says that but because they genuinely want to help them. Unlike that very religious country called Nigeria where a pastor will buy $24:8 million on a plane while his congregation are struggling. And as far as am concerned religion is the main problem with Nigeria. The masses should forget about all these big prayer conventions at Easter time, gather together and march to Aso Rock cause a riot and demand change. I believe that would they would see a better result than if they just decided to pray.

People are often surprised nay shocked when I tell them I support Portsmouth.
It seems clubs like Pompey, 'Boro, Villa, or West Brom do not deserve any supporters
and I must have a loose screw for supporting such a club.

I support Pompey because I have an almost filial link to the place and I have supported them ever since I could

I never really used to bother my self about replying messages in the religious section until u came out with your topic called The problem with the atheist. Your topic made me realise the problem that religion was having in Nigeria {my country of origin} If your thinking that i don't care about religion your wrong because i do care. I care [/b]because Nigeria is probably the most religious country in the world and at the same time the most corrupt. [b]I care because because over a 100 million people go to church {or any other religious institution} every week they give 10% of their hard earned salary as tithes and in return all they get from thier pastors is false hope. I care because i always get phone calls from back home form my religious relatives and friends begging me to send them money for one thing or another. When i send them the doh they'll be thanking God for using me {the athiest} as an avenue to help them. I care because i also get calls from friends and relatives stressing me coz they want me to help them to leave that religious country and come to {England} this athiest country because nothing dey happen for that religious country.
