Nothing is more succinct and epic than a good run from Okoroji in this event,we foresee an avalanche as far as political ambition is concerned for the massive igbo population in Lagos State.....Of course non-yoruba Lagos natives won't be happy...

I know Igbos have won some electoral positions (councillors or chairman) and there was/is like 2 ibos in Kano state house of assembly. As little as this seems, it is a good start that many state including those in the East might not be able to copy for now. We will get there

Islam for Muslims / Re: Refuting Shia Baseless Theology by manony: 10:59am On Jan 14, 2011
Firstly i think we should not condemn hymen we should try and explain to her, emotions in this situation may not help her learn.
My reply to hymen:

That God should have made the Quran very clear and not require explanation from people: God himself did not intend it to be that way. He sent the Books and He also sent messengers to explain these Books. Human beings by their nature will give meanings that suit them to the Quran if there is not nobody to explain them. The people to explain the Quran is firstly the Prophet(SAW) himself, after him the companions around him and pious knowledgeable scholars who follow the Quran and the Sunnah in each generation. I am sure you know that even national constitutions are not left to ordinary citizens to interprete, it will generate confusion. That is why there are Supreme and other courts, judges and lawyers.

As for the punishment of the 'Ad people. Read the 2 verses again. The first verse says the punishment wind was sent to them in a day, the 2nd verse mentioned about how long it lasted.

As for angel(s) appearing to Maryam. What you were referring to are 2 different occasions. An angel appeared to her in 1 occasion and many angels appeared to her in another occasions.

Pharaoh being saved also means his body being preserved as has been mention

Lastly, the Islam's article of faith are to believe in 1) Allah, 2) His messengers, 3)His angels 4)His Books 5) Destiny and 6) the Last Day. Rejecting any of these (like saying one of the messenger lied or there is a mistake in one of His Books) is like rejecting faith which is like Kufr(disbelief). May Allah guide and protect all of us from this.
Romance / Re: Can You Marry A Lady With Fibroids/ by manony: 9:02am On Jan 08, 2011
My wife has fibroids, many of them and we have 2 kids now. The only little challenge was some difficulties during her first pregnancy which I think was partly because she had in her mind that the fibroids were going to affect the pregnancy - being her first time.
And there is a friend of her who removed the fibroids and they grew again.

The first highlighted part is irrelevant to the future validity of loans. Using that argument we should probably give up on elections because they have been rigged in the past. I am not Goodluck Jonathan and hence cannot and do not need to be able to personally and "sincerely" vouch for the loan (apologies but what a very silly request to make). Too much of the country's recurrent expenditure goes to servicing the executives and legislature but it is not 50% (unless you can provide sources/references that state otherwise) so please no need to sex up figures to make your point. Based on the $3.7 billion dollar figure quoted I assume the loan refers to that passed by the legislature when the president asked for $5billion for investment in "critical infrastructure". No problem with that in itself now is there? You want development but at no cost? Privatise the power infrastructure and people cry foul, yet they want light. We need to stop being so unreasonable. Infrastructural development is not cheap, and I doubt Nigerian banks have enough capital to facilitate the loans required by government for infrastructural investment

I totally agree with you we need to stop being so unreasonable and there will be no development at no cost. But what we are having in Nigeria is no development at maximum cost and for you to raise an eyebrow to someone questioning what Nigeria wants to do with another loan will imply you know something is different about this loan compared to the past ones. So dont vouch for the proper usage of the loan but tell what you think will make it  different from other loans. For example, most people's hope for next year election being better than the last one is hinged on Jega being considered better than Iwu. So what can we say about this loan and the previous ones.
As for me saying 50% is spent on executives and legislature, you remember Sanusi said legislature consumes 25% and he has not being proved wrong; they couldnt even get him to apologise. And the legislature has said the executives get more than them, so you should see where I am coming from

Do you actually know what the loan is meant to be used for or are you just arguing that taking a loan is inherently evil? You will make a much better argument if you can actually discredit what the loan is proposed for otherwise its difficult to take you seriously (just saying).

OK. Taking loan is not inherently evil but can you tell me what all past loans in this country had been used for. Please tell us what this particular loan will be used to achieve and can you sincerely vouch that the loan will truly be used for that purpose in a country where 50% of expenditure goes into servicing the executives and the legislature/

UK VIPs pulled out ahead of deadly Nigeria parade

The second blast occurred as emergency services dealt with the first
UK dignitaries pulled out of Friday's parade marking Nigeria's 50th anniversary, which was targeted by explosions that killed 12 people.

The Queen's representative, the Duke of Gloucester, was scheduled to attend but did not. Ex-PM Gordon Brown cancelled his visit to the country altogether.

The pullouts have raised questions about how much the Nigerian authorities knew of impending attacks.

The Mend militant group said it carried out the bombings.

Mend, the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta, which says it is fighting for a fairer distribution of oil revenue, sent a warning shortly before the blasts.

It said that "several explosive devices have been successfully planted in and around the venue by our operatives working inside the government security services".

It added: "There is nothing worth celebrating after 50 years of failure. For 50 years, the people of the Niger Delta have had their land and resources stolen from them."

Mend later accused officials of acting "irresponsibly by ignoring our forewarning".

The two bombs went off about five minutes apart. Police said the bombs appeared timed to do most damage to those who responded to the first blast.

'Constant contact'
A UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office spokesperson confirmed it had "received indications of a heightened security risk" and took immediate action to update travel advice after the Mend warning on Friday morning.

The BBC's Komla Dumor says people in Abuja have been shaken by the attacks
The Duke of Gloucester had been scheduled to attend the parade but did not do so. His office declined to comment on why he withdrew. Former UK PM Gordon Brown also did not attend.

The FCO spokesperson said: "Security for VIP visitors is always kept under rigorous review. We remain in constant contact with the Nigerian authorities on this."

Foreign Secretary William Hague condemned the attacks as "cowardly and contemptible".

"My thoughts are with those injured and the families of those who have lost their lives," he said.

Nigeria's This Day newspaper said British intelligence had warned Nigerian authorities of possible attacks.

This Day also reported a raid was carried out on the home of Mend leader, Henry Okah, in South Africa, following Nigerian requests.

Reuters news agency quoted a South African police spokeswoman as saying she could "neither confirm or deny the incident took place".

Nigerian police spokesman Jimoh Moshoo confirmed that 12 people had been killed in the attacks, with 17 injured, and that a manhunt had been launched.

"We have mounted a check throughout the city," he said.

Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan called the attacks a "wicked act of desperation".

Ordinary Nigerians expressed surprise at the blasts.

Elkana Habila told Reuters: "This is a very massive blow to the Nigerian government, and it will portray the country in a very bad light. It will scare away foreign investors."

Amnesty
Last year the Nigerian government signed an amnesty agreement with rebels in the Delta, offering cash and the promise of job training for former militants who disarmed.

Violence has lessened and the number of kidnappings has fallen since the deal was reached, but many fighters complain the government has failed to deliver its end of the agreement.

Oil production has increased since the amnesty came into effect - from about 1.6 million barrels per day to about two million now.

Most of Mend's attacks have targeted pipelines and supply terminals in the south.

President Jonathan is himself from the Delta region. When he took office earlier this year, a senior rebel leader told the BBC he would be the best person to solve the crisis in the Delta, as he understands its problems

Politics / Re: Sanusi Criticizes Bank Consolidation Exercise by manony: 9:25pm On Mar 02, 2010
Even in US and UK people are losing jobs, but it is well agreed that the problem started from past mismanagement. Afterall no one is blaming Obama for the current economic crisis. If nothing had been done with the way the banks were managed in nigeria, it is obvious that not only would people lose jobs but depositors would lose their money - when the banks collapse.
it is understandable for people affected (bank workers and shareholders) to feel bad, but it could have been worse and I think its better to have your bubble burst at the time the rest of the world is having the same.
Career / Re: Bizzare: Intercontinental Bank Downsizes Again by manony: 9:12pm On Mar 02, 2010
Why are other banks like GTB, diamondbank not sacking workers? It only shows the problem is not with sanusi, the problems is with past management of the bank, management who took the lives of their staffs and the money of the depositors for granted
