Thanks for the reply

Actually I will be staying in my sponsors place who stays at Maryland also….. but I think it’s better i just indicate that I would be staying in the hostel maybe it would increase the chancing of getting the Admission but knowing quite well I won’t stay.

Question no 2 …. Should i indicate that I would be full time or part time student…. If been a full time student can I work cos I would like to work instead of depending on my Sponsor alone…

Please I would appreciate if you can enlighten me more about this.. Thanks

If you have where you’re going to stay then just indicate you won’t be staying on campus accommodation has no bearing on your chances of admission. You’re legally allowed to work only 20 hours per week on campus anything outside that’s illegal. The decision is yours on that.

Hello guys, please I am filling a application form for a master degree in a University in the Maryland US.. while filling the form I was asked if I would stay in the school hostel or I have a place to stay aside from the school hostel, actually I have no intention of staying in the school hostel. Am now confused if am to just state it there that am not staying in the school hostel or not….

Would appreciate it anyone here can advise me on what to do.
Thanks

Faced the same issue ,I was confused because I didn’t know anyone here before I came.If you select to stay on campus you’re not going to pay unless you check in .To be safe choose that you’d want to stay on campus and have that as a back up accommodation plan unless you know someone you’ll be staying with then do otherwise. In my experience, on campus housing can actually be one of the best things if you’re new.It may be expensive but the bulk of the cost is usually from purchasing a compulsory meal plan .There’s a way to go about it.For example a 2 person in a room accommodation in my school is $1860/semeser.That comes down to about $372/month for the semester with all utilities included. You won’t get a deal like that anywhere .The downside to this may be that you have to buy a meal plan with the least one here being $1700 per semester. But there’s a way around not paying for a meal plan I can tell you about. Also being on campus really gives you access to opportunities at least from my experience.I came here without a GA but I got one at the last minute and all my fees were refunded. Also if you won’t be having a car early trying to stay far from campus may be an inconvenience if your classes are on campus .So weigh your options well.

I had this issue too.It could probably mean your school as compared to others allows you to take a minimum of 6 credit hours per semester.
If this is no problem and there’s enough money for you to take more credit talk to your counselor about extra credit when registering.

Good pm guys,
Pls I just realized that the duration for my Master's program is for three years. The program starts 23rd of August 2021 and ends 23August 2024.

During this period I am expected to take between 33-36credits.

Does this feel normal?

I get your point of view now .I agree also.Nothing beats being well prepared whether with religion or no religion .

Elnon:
Tolerance?. You got it all wrong. My problem is with people who don't do their own part of the deal and expect magic to happen...The truth is once you are not desperate to move to the US (not a do or die affair), have good intentions, a genuine student, have legit documents, confident and prepared well enough then you are MORE LIKELY to have your visa approved...Your chances of approval is definitely high. l

LOL.....Good question...Nigerians and being stupidly religious is damn annoying

I think this take is unfair and insensitive.I’ve gone through the whole process myself and it require a great deal of mental fortitude especially seeing where we come from.If people resort to their religious beliefs to see them through I don’t see the problem. You’re here because you want to go to America but you can’t tolerate religious people ,how would you want to go to the land of the free.
Let those that believe Grace and prayer will see them through do it.Let those that believe otherwise stick to theirs ,after all we’ve seen people from both ends get their visas approved.

VISA APPROVED !

This is my transcript as promised .Let me give a little background.I contacted an immigration lawyer who advised I cancel my appointment at the lagos embassy and apply in Accra,Ghana instead.Ive lived in Ghana for a while and only moved back recently and I hold both passports(Main reason I contacted a lawyer for the sakes of home ties). My sponsor also lives in Ghana and I’ve had my education and some work there.
I’m just grateful to God because it’s been 2 years working on this.

The embassy in Ghana is very very calm and no anyhowness like you’ll see at Walter carrington before entering and nobody outside asking to arrange your papers .The embassy is currently prioritizing only students so all the folks I saw there were students

Only 3 V.O available and no sitting from entering the visa hall until you leave so process was very fast

Stood in line for biometrics and continued to interview area

When it was my turn
Me:Good morning
V.O: Good morning. Please pass me your documents

V.O : Please put your hand on the scanner

V.O : What are your travel plans
Me: I’m traveling to the USA for my masters in information systems and business analytics

V.O: Who is paying for your trip
Me: My father

V.O : (Looks up at me)What does he do?
Me: (V.O Kept making eye contact from time to time)He’s a wholesale importer of clothes from South Korea ,China and the UK.He owns and runs a hotel and has rental residential and commercial properties some of which are occupied by banks

V.O : (After typing and looking at his screen for a long time)Are you married ?
Me: No

V.O : Do you have any children
Me: No please

V.O : (sticks a sticker behind my passport gives me a small piece of white paper )You can follow the instructions on there to pick up your passport at the circled time tomorrow .Come with a government issued ID
Me:Thank you

Just like that no document asked even though other before me were asked to show transcripts and school certificates.SEVIS receipt was not a requirement for the interview here but I had it .

All in all I only witnessed two denials, one from a lady who had a G.A but had been denied before and another guy who claimed his aunt will pay his $60k deficit .Another lady who claimed her friend in the USA will help her pay a deficit of $50k was approved. What they say about making eye contact is true.Look them straight in the eye even when they’re not paying attention to you.
Be confident in your answers (Practice in a mirror with your mask on)and go very well prepared and practice speaking audibly if your voice is low tone.Dress in a way that’ll help your confidence but don’t over do it.
Don’t offer any documents or unwanted information unless you’re asked .Fill your DS-160 yourself and go over it multiple times and know exactly what you’ve put down.
Don’t worry about denials before you ,your case is different and pray if you believe in it.

Hello house,

I finally got an interview date for Thursday August 8th.My issue is that my bank statement is up to May 7th.Is that ok or do I need my sponsor to get a new one within June .Keeping in mind that the one that ends in May has about 35million and that amount may decrease if he gets one from June .

I need advice on this please

If you have utilized all your chances for requesting emergency date and yet the dates you got are far from your resumption date what else can you do?
Like your resumption is july and the emergency date is October and you can't request again. What other option is left?

You may have to pay another MRV fee from my experience. It’s one emergency application per MRV fee paid

Good Day Everyone. I have a bit of a challenge. I have my visa interview next week. This is after I requested an emergency booking. I just found out that on my DS 160 form, I indicated the course of study as Chemical Engineering but on my I-20 it's Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering. Would it be an issue during the interview? How do I answer/defend this error?

I really need help to answer this.
Thank you.

Boss do you mind sharing the write you used when applying for emergency appointment?.I’d appreciate it

My fav forum, and I’m back after 4 months in Uncle Sam’s land, I bid everyone preparing for interview good luck and also Gods speed to those processing their admission, one topic we fail to discuss and I’ve barely seen on here is survival in the United States, this issue concerns those without a GA, I’d advise you get a survival skills, you’d need it I swear. You’d also need all the money you could come with, Let this thought resonant at a lower frequency in your mind as you go about processing your travels, I wish everyone the best.

I hear it’s not easy, what kind of survival skills are you referring to
