On Tuesday 21July2026, more than 20 suspected members of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) were killed following a precision drone strike by the Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI.

The drone attack targeted one of ISWAP’s logistics and assembly points in the Southern Lake Chad area.

This was revealed by counter-insurgency/security analyst Abdulahi Yusuf aka Zagazola Makama, who covers the Lake Chad region.

According to his report, the drone strike was executed on 21July2026 at Kila Bariya in Marte Local Government Area (LGA) of Borno State, following credible intelligence to the military indicating presence of ISWAP fighters and strategic supplies at the location.

He also disclosed that more than 30 motorcycles newly acquired by the terrorists were destroyed during the strike.

Troops additionally destroyed a major ISWAP food storage facility stocked with large quantities of beans and other food items allegedly confiscated or forcefully collected from farming communities across the Southern Lake Chad axis.

Makama reports that the latest strike is expected to affect ISWAP’s operations around Marte, Ngala and Dikwa LGAs of Borno State, where the group has reportedly been attempting to regroup and expand its activities.
