Culture / Lagos-born Igbos (walking The Path Of Losing Their Cultural Heritage) by marshborn(m): 5:22pm On Jul 25, 2016
I am an igbo, born in the late 80's in lagos state,  I have spent 95% of my entire life in here, except for my university education which i did in the east.
Like majority of my tribesmen born and raised in lagos I am not 100% efficient in speaking my native tongue, because of the fad that trended in the late 80's/ early 90's where most igbo parents in lagos raised their children speaking mostly English.

When i was younger It was a thing of joy or class to my parents when we visit my home town that I and my siblings couldn't speak the igbo language.
They liked the fact that we always stood out with our Queens English and foreigner like appearance.
Fast forward till today, it has become a thing of Shame to me as a grown man. When i am in a gathering with my tribesmen I always feel lost and left out.

Through my interaction with igbos of similar upbringing like me I can confidently state as a fact that 70-80% of igbos born and raised in lagos are not efficient in the igbo language in varying degrees.
Most can hear and understand the language but you find very few fluent speakers which is very disheartening, because I have seen many people from other tribes who are born and breed abroad  yet can speak their native language fluently.

I am currently Trying my best to improve on my
speaking of the language but the fact remains that children pick things up faster and much easier than adults, which is why igbo parents who plan on raising their kids away from igboland, should ensure that their children learn the language at a very young age.
It is not a difficult task just follow this simple rule:

*make sure that the only language spoken at home is your native language, the kids would surely learn English in their schools and through their interactions with friends.

For those like me, I fear the worst for our future kids, when even their father isn't fluent in his native language,  I only hope for the best.

Please let's all join hands to avert this impending identity loss for the good of the igbo race.

Phones / Before You Put A Screen Lock On Your Phone Read This by marshborn(m): 3:13pm On Jul 23, 2016
A friend of mine was involved in a a motor accident on his way makurdi, somewhere in a remote part of benue state, according to eye witnesses he became unconscious and was rushed to the local health centre around that area for first aid treatment.

The good samaritans that helped were able to locate his two phones and they tried contacting his family or friends to inform them of his where about, but to their disappointment the two phones were locked. He stayed in the state of coma for two good days before finally giving up the ghost, because the local health centre lacked the professionals to keep him alive.
Had his phone been accessible he might have stood a better chance of being alive today.

So avoid putting a screen lock on all your phones, it's okay to lock certain applications that may contain personal messages and informations e.g mobile banking app, WhatsApp e.t.c. but at least leave the contact list accessible to everybody, DON'T PUT A SCREEN LOCK.
This might just save your life.

Greatzeus:
Do you love people generally, apart from relationship s,do you love and interact well with families and colleagues, if no then, you have a real problem,if yes then maybe you haven't found the right person for you.
Personally I will say forget about bf/gf stuff and focus on getting a life partner,God help you.
Yea, of course I love and interact well with my family and colleagues at work. Just find it hard to maintain a relationship.

Essence6055:

Its simply... You are not dating the right person and you are a good looking guy from what I checked in your profile

Now I think you are one of those guys who walk up to a beautiful lady and woo her and start dating her... You walk up to her because her smile is beautiful, her face is gorgeous, her ass, breasts, clothes, scent and all is just magnificent....

Now I don't expect this relationship to last, because it is not based on inward appearance.... Now Imagine you meeting a girl and she is so hardworking, she has a face that lightens up people whenever she is around... Her presence brings a moment of happiness.. Her voice is angelic... Her words promote positivity and achievement.... Her self esteem/confidence is admirable

First you will wonder who is she? Your curiosity makes you to go in to learn more... The more you learn the more interested you become... when you are with her you will get the feeling of that happiness people feel around her....

With time you are in love (with the right person) and then you are on you way to woo her ....

So Mr. Good Looks Do you think you can fall in Love?

Stay Healthy, Stay Wise...

Hey am looking for followers and people to follow
Thanks

Romance / Please Help!! I Can't Get Myself To Love Anyone by marshborn(m): 2:53pm On Jul 22, 2016
Nairalanders please i need advice, all my relationships don't last because I can't get the initial "like" I had for the person to turn into love (in other words I find it hard to get emotionally attached to anyone).
My last relationship lasted just 2 months before we parted ways, because I always find an excuse to run away from the relationships. Not because I planned to use and dump her, but because I wasn't feeling any emotional attachment to her anymore.

I see my friends having long and productive relationship and it hurts me that I can't do the same, I even wonder how I am going to get married one day.
Please advice me, I think I have a problem.

*NB: I am in my mid- twenties.
Romance / Re: Guys, Why Do You Get Angry At Your Girlfriends Over This? by marshborn(m): 10:43am On Jul 22, 2016
Checked86:
You can turn me down a day before or even that same day but not when I call you with my phone. How to turn my invitation down without me being angry: (1) Do it 2days or at most a day before the D-day (2) Be the one to call me or text me for the change of plan NOT when I call you to ask you where you are(hoping you are already on your way), you start telling me how aunt and her husband visited and insisted you take them to your grandmother's house (3) the next date will be fixed by you, and you alone.

Culture / Boobs Are Overrated!!! Let's End This Madness by marshborn(m): 4:06pm On Jul 19, 2016
With the recent increase in the way women trend online these days whenever they flash part of their boobs or any other part of their body.
I stopped and wondered, what is the big deal in a woman's boobs?
Speaking as Africans, we should know better that certain parts of the human body had little or no significance to us before the white man corrupted our minds and introduced clothing's that covered majority of our body.

The first picture here shows a mountain dwelling tribe in taraba state who still move around topless, does this mean their men over there keep staring at their women in excitement all the time? To them it is nothing but a mammary gland used in feeding their young ones, which is what it should be.

So please let's stop making nobodies famous by promoting pictures of their boobs online all the time.
Remember they are just mammary glands.
