Nairaland / General / Time For Sadiya Umar Farouq To Resign Honourably by Masco2006m: 4:42pm On Apr 07, 2020 |
TIME FOR SADIYA UMAR FAROUQ TO RESIGN HONOURABLY... By Justin Tsegba One thing about bad leadership is that after all it leaves both supporters and critics as victims. The only difference is that the critics are usually prepared but the praise singers are caught unawares. Without mincing words or being economical with truth, every right thinking person know that Sadiya Farouq, the minister of Humanitarian Affairs was unprepared for the task of managing a govt ministry. From the day she was appointed to this moment, she has yet to come to terms with the reality of her new position. The reason is not farfetched. She is incompetent, lack capacity and grasp the rudiments of her new job. Hence she spend each moment chasing shadow and hallucinating, running from pillar to pole with NO result. It is therefore incumbent on her to relieve herself of the position and end suffering of Nigerians whose job fall under her ministry. Every N-Power beneficiary must rise to the challenge to call on this lady to resign NOW. Her continued stay is a threat to the survival of many N-Power volunteers and their families who depend on their monthly stipend for survival. To know that this is coming at a time the beneficiaries are forced indoors on govt order to curtail the spread of Covid-19 make it even more heartbreaking and dehumanizing. What else can be more punishment than this? We must put our differences aside and fight against this common enemy. Share this post far and wide. Add your voice to this call and protest. Do it until she resigns! Enough is enough. #SadiyaFarouqResignNow |

Nairaland / General / US Approves Chloroquine To Treat Coronavirus – Trump by Masco2006m: 6:01pm On Mar 19, 2020 |
US Approves Chloroquine To Treat Coronavirus – Trump Channels Television Updated March 19, 2020 3.3K President Donald Trump speaks speaks on the latest developments of the coronavirus outbreak, while flanked by U.S. Surgeon General Jerome Adams, in the James Brady Press Briefing Room at the White House March 19, 2020 in Washington, DC. Chip Somodevilla/Getty Images/AFP President Donald Trump speaks speaks on the latest developments of the coronavirus outbreak, while flanked by U.S. Surgeon General Jerome Adams, in the James Brady Press Briefing Room at the White House March 19, 2020 in Washington, DC. Chip Somodevilla/Getty Images/AFP The US is fast-tracking the anti-malarial drug chloroquine for use as a treatment against the new coronavirus, President Donald Trump said Thursday. “We’re going to be able to make that drug available almost immediately, and that’s where the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) has been so great,” Trump told reporters. “They’ve gone through the approval process — it’s been approved. They took it down from many, many months to immediate. So we’re going to be able to make that drug available by prescription.” But the FDA Commissioner Stephen Hahn later indicated that, while the drug has not yet been formally approved, access to it was being expanded so that authorities could gather more data. This is known as “compassionate use.” “If there is an experimental drug that is potentially available, a doctor could ask for that drug to be used in a patient. We have criteria for that and very speedy approval for that,” said Hahn. “As an example, many Americans have read studies and heard media reports about this drug chloroquine, which is an anti-malarial drug. “It’s already approved, as the president said, for the treatment of malaria as well as an arthritis condition. “That’s a drug that the president directed us to take a closer look at, as to whether an expanded use approach to that could be done to actually see if that benefits patients.” Chloroquine is a synthetic form of quinine, which has been used to treat malaria since the 1940s. The drug has recently been used to treat coronavirus patients in China and in France, where some researchers said it showed great promise, though scientists agree that only more trials would determine if it really works and is safe. Nairaland / General / Buhari Approves Slash Of Petrol From N145 To N125 by Masco2006m: 7:09pm On Mar 18, 2020 |
Buhari approves slash of petrol from N145 to N125 18th March 2020 Juliana Taiwo-Obalonye, Abuja President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the reduction in pump price of premium motor spirit (PMS) from N145 per liter to about N130. Minister of State Petroleum Resources Mr Timipre Sylva, after the Federal Executive Council (FEC), on Wednesday, confirmed this to State House correspondents at a briefing on the need to reduce the pump price following the global fall in oil price. Reading from a prepared text titled: “Reduction in the price of Petroleum Motor Spirit (PMS), Sylva said: “The drop in crude oil prices has lowered the expected open market price of imported petrol below the official pump price of N145 per liter. “Therefore, Mr. President has approved that Nigerians should benefit from the reduction in the price of PMS which is a direct effect of the crash in global crude oil prices. “In view of this situation, based on the price modulation template approved in 2015, the Federal Government is directing the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), to reduce the ex-coastal and ex-depot prices of PMS to reflect current market realities. “Also, the Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency ( PPPRA) shall subsequently issue a monthly guide to NNPC and marketers on the appropriate pricing regime. “The agency is further directed to modulate pricing in accordance with prevailing market dynamics and respond appropriately to any further oil market development. “It is believed that this measure will have a salutary effect on the economy, provide relief to Nigerians and would provide a framework for a sustainable supply of PMS to our country. “The Ministry of Petroleum Resources will continue to encourage the use of compressed natural gas to complement PMS utilisation.
