Official language is different from national language. How many Nigerians speak English? Illiteracy rate is almost 60% and national languages are even taken into consideration.

There are many unifying factors. Most developed nations have more than unifying factors. In nigeria, there is none. In 70s or 80s,Tai Solarin suggested we should have a national language-Pidgin or British English and there must be mass education of adults to speak the language. Also basic education must be compulsory and free. Then because of his philosophy as atheist nobody listed to him.
Now for Nigeria to develop there must be at least a unifying factor. Which factor can unite us? I cannot see any. Therefore I do not see Nigeria moving forward.

Ethinicity and language are main factor. Religion is next. More than 70% of Americans are Caucasians. Also,more than 70% are Christians. National language is English.

Religion is their unifying factor in those countries. Majority are Muslims in Malaysia while in Singapore majority are Chinese. For a country to develop there must be a cultural factor that unite people be it religion or language. Nothing unites.

They are both friends it's not. Racism is in tented to offended. This did not anyway offend the reciever. Their are element of subjectivity in this hings. I may call you a fool and also call my friend a fool. But we both know in our hearts the one intended to be an insult.

All those countries except brazil has one Major ethnicity with other minority. Brazil itself is still a developing nation with high poverty rate and that because it's also has a diversity problem.

Africa's case is different. Nobody wants to be seen as a minority. Every group wants to be at the top. That's why the African continent has major number of civil wars.

Singapore is like 75% Chinese and can’t be termed multicultural like Nigeria.

Singapore used to be a part of Malaysia. When they were the same country they used to have tribal/race riots. It wasn’t until they went their separate ways they started succeeding. Tribal differences are important & can impede a country’s success.
