“Nzem Berom festival 2019” Tagged, “Celebrating the Berom Prowess in Science and Technology” featured royal procession, traditional dances, exhibition of cuisine, technological inventions, artifacts and craft as well as Toh Chun competition.
The Berom Educational and Cultural Organisation, (BECO),His Majesty, Da (Dr) Jacob Gyang Buba, CON the Gbong Gwom Jos and Grand Patron of all Berom organizations at home and in the Diaspora and lovers of culture were all present.

Danjuma Goje is indeed the best choice

The All Progressives Congress, APC’s Presidential Candidate, Mohammedu Buhari campaign in Jos was on Saturday marred by uncontrollable group of hoodlums who immediately hijacked the podium and overran the campaign and as such couldn’t allow Mr. President to make his speech or receive the decampees .

The exercise was disorganized even before the arrival of President Mohammedu Buhari, when the MC and Director General of the Industrial Training Funds, Sir Joseph Ari, climbed the podium and warned the security agencies against pushing off supporters who were mostly Youths brought to the campaign, after it became rowdy when some of them climbed up the podium turning the place a free for all gathering.

However, the situation became unbearable as former Senator Victor Rampyal Lar equally lost his handset to those thugs and his clothes were turned into pieces.

The announcement raised a lot of confusion and heavy stampede leading to the pulling down of the presidential podium and the President was smuggled narrowly through the back side.

Many Journalists became scared of the reactions and ran out of the stadium; even those that were transmitting life coverage could no longer find it easy to control their Cameras.

On arrival to the stadium, the environment become more confused to the extent that the event was cut short, as dignitaries were not even able to address the public.

The president was smuggled out of the stadium using exit routes behind the stadium.

Those who reacted to the development said it was a shameful outing so far, describing as a waste of resources and energy as the president saw a half red dream but was not able to receive those decampees or hand over flag to Governor Simon Lalong.

It was a shutdown in Jos, Plateau State as the Presidential flag-bearer of the All Progressives Congress, APC, President Muhammadu Buhari arrived on Saturday, 19th January,2019 in continuation of his campaign tour.

President Buhari and other National Party Executives where received by an overwhelming crowed at the Jos Township Stadium, venue of the rally.

The Crowd outnumbered security expectations, leading to destruction of the sound equipment. Despite all efforts to calm the crowd down, President Buhari could not address the crowd and had to leave the venue of the rally.

The President has campaigned in some states of the federation but the overwhelming reception on his visit to Plateau was beyond what has been seen in previous states.

In a society where leadership is built primarily on the size of one’s wealth, purchased loyalty and the power that comes with the official position one occupies, it is a moral burden and call to duty, rolling out the drums to blow the trumpet of any noble man or woman, no matter how wealthy or poor that personality is, who has distinguished himself or herself competently and credibly in serving humanity. The leadership style of Sen. Ahmed Mohammed Makarfi, on the contrary is built and derived from his charisma, positive influence, selfless service and laudable track-record of achievements.

It is clearly evident that this country can only progress with a visionary leader that has been tried and trusted given the peculiar nature of Nigeria, where most political leaders come to entice the people only to later fend for selfish gains.

Youths and well meaning country men and women have continuously called on the former Kaduna State Governor, Senator Ahmed Mohammed Makarfi to run for the seat of President in the upcoming 2019 elections. Describing him as a visionary, detribalized and soft spoken but charismatic Nigerian.

Following calls from Nigerians, both home and in diaspora, for a credible candidate like Makarfi for the 2019 presidential race, a leader who serves his people well, enshrined in their hearts and minds, the former chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Senator Ahmed Makarfi, after coming to terms with the fact that he is in a better position to address the myriads of problems confronting the country, finally disclosed that he will seek the nomination of his party to contest the 2019 presidential Election. Makarfi, has benevolently attracted to himself a call to serve because he has enshrined himself, through his good deeds, in the hearts and minds of the good people of Kaduna state and Nigeria as a whole.

As a governor from 1999 to 2007, with his unassuming nature and magnetic strength of character, he remarkably piloted the affairs of Kaduna state by placing it back on the path of accelerated socio-economic development, and gave all a sense of belonging during his tenure. A typical but celebrated example of his magnanimity as a governor was the creation of additional chiefdoms, which liberated some ethnic groups in the state from years of subjugation and colonization despite strong opposition. Just to mention but a few of his achievements; he established the Kaduna State University (KASU), embarked on rural electrification, engaged in human capacity development and empowerment, erected the first overhead bridge in the state, he also conceptualized, initiated, constructed new roads and reconstructed old ones.

In the senate from 2007, he might not have been the most vocal voice during debates, but as regards lobbying for important bills, piloting the mammoth task as committee chairman on finance and in molding consensus across various cleavages, he is a gold medalist. Even as a lawmaker, the welfare need of his people has always been uppermost in his humane heart. He has been committed and consistent over the years in the economic empowerment of his people, providing scholarship to indigent students and in the implementation of constituency projects based on the most relevant needs of his constituents in Kaduna North senatorial zone of Kaduna state.

The former PDP caretaker Chairman is truly an epitome of legendary humility and calmness, a consensus molder and bridge builder, a dedicated patriot and nationalist, an astute pro-people politician and unrepentant democrat, a cheerful giver of both self and resources, and an indefatigable elder statesman of repute. At all times, he has brought to the fore his passion and years of experience in both public and private sector, as an administrator and banker of note, for the benefit of not just the upper class, as his contemporaries are guilty of, but the average man and woman in the remotest village especially in Kaduna state. Also, in the politics of Kaduna state, his unrivaled political dexterity and acumen is second to none and the envy of his most renowned critics, while at the national level, he possesses an uncommon capacity to build and mold consensus across ethno-religious and political divide. This has earned him widespread respect not just in his home state but also nationally.

The above description of the characteristics that make-up the sterling personality and character of the sage Alhaji Ahmed Mohammed Makarfi; does not portray him in anyway as perfect, that would be comparing him to God Almighty, which would be blasphemous, but by far an expression of his positive attributes outweighing and silencing the negatives as we gear up for the 2019 election.

Kaduna state and Nigeria is proud to have the rare privilege of producing a colossus like Alhaji Ahmed Mohammed Makarfi, as there is no more powerful motivation for others than a leader who sets an example. He is a noble man that the 2019 presidential cap will accurately fit, in order to give a sense of hope to the new generation and inspiration to posterity; which is what we need the most as a nation, in the face of the present conundrum that confronts us.

As Nigerians looks forward to the 2019 electioneering year, the big question still remains as to who do Nigerians trust as the man for the future...

It is clearly evident that this country will need someone more of a super hero to restore the glory of Africa's most populous country as a lot has to be done. Over the years we have been saddened with selfish leaders who have promised to raise this country to envious heights, Nigerians have themselves put a lot of tribal and religious sentiments when going to the polls to chose the right candidate to represent them and lead.

It is clear that Nigeria is experiencing one of its worst ever period with economical depreciation, ethnic and religious division with security challenges wearing and tearing the country. As such Nigerians can not be blind going to 2019 with pertinent issues at hand. The issues Nigeria faces today will only get worst if we select leaders who will come into power for selfish gains or for political witch-hunting. The country will need a selfless person who over time has also been tried and tested in various leadership capacity

Sen. Ahmed Makarfi is the only credible and outstanding Nigerian now that can lead the Country out of its present predicament, he was governor of Kaduna State between 1999 and 2007, Also Senator representing Kaduna north senatorial zone between 2007 and 2015 even as a former Caretaker Chairman of People’s Democrdatic Party, PDP he remained a detribalized Nigerian with qualities to be president in 2019.

In Kaduna state and the entire northern Nigeria, there is no single individual today that enjoys the goodwill more than Senator Ahmed Makarfi. The minority northern Christians love him for displaying rare leadership that is lacking among Nigeria's elites by implementing policies and making utterances that unify and not those that further divide. The Muslims love him for displaying true Islamic virtue despite the fact that he isn't a vocal proponent of Shari'a like other hypocritical leaders.


It is aslo rare in this part of the world to find a man or woman that held political positions of Governor and influential Senator for straight sixteen years without a SINGLE indictment for corruption. Ahmed Makarfi showed this rare trait that not even his traducers could pin him with anything. He is the only PDP Presidential Aspirant without indictment of graft as Governor, Senator, Chairman Senate Account Committee and former National Chairman, all within this present 4th republic.

Senator Makarfi has the reputation of providing favorable environment for people irrespective of ethnic group or religion, he also believes every stakeholder is key in the Nigeria project, these he displayed in all public positions he held in terms of appointment and service delivery. As governor of Kaduna state some of his remarkable achievements include; Transformation and Infrastructural development of Kaduna state which hasn’t been equaled, Accommodation and Appointment of Non-indegenes into his government. The people of Kaduna state and Middlebelt could testify to this.

Nigerians and PDP members will agree that it took the efforts and leadership of Senator Ahmed Makarfi to ensure the non collapse of PDP even when it appeared all hope was lost. He stood firm, showed willingness to give up his position as National Chairman for the sake of the party.

The question remains; Will Makarfi concede to people’s call? Most of those who have come out so far as Presidential candidate may afterall not be too Presidential enough to defeat the APC. Makarfi has the qualities. With the influence he used in moulding the PDP party back into reckoning, he can send the yet to be imploded APC to history’s dustbin.


It is my candid opinion that in view of the noble role played by Makarfi in rescuing the PDP coupled with his unblemished and sterling record of performance both as Kaduna State governor, Senator and caretaker chairman of the major opposition party, the Secondus led-NWC should give him a free and fair chance to fly its flag in 2019.

With no doubt Ahmed Makarfi would ensure the restructuring of Nigeria with immediate effect if he becomes president come 2019.

Senator Jonah Jang, representing Plateau North Senatorial Zone in the Senate was today arraigned before Justice Daniel Longji of the Jos High Court. Today 16th May 2018 marking the first day of Senator Jonah Jang’s arraignment by the EFCC and the ICPC.

He arrived the court premises at 9:30am this morning and the court proceedings are currently in session.
Many of the senator’s supporters who were at the court, posited that his trial is simply a political witch-hunt and that they will use his trial as a rally point for defiance against Government impunity.

However, at the commencement of the hearing presided by Justice Daniel of the Jos High Court, the ICPC was said to have dropped all their charges – however EFCC held fort.
When the charges were read to Senator Jonah Jang and Yusuf Pam (ex-Cashier of PLSG) by the lead prosecuting counsel, Rotimi Jacobs – SAN, they both pled “not guilty”.
This led to bail discussion, where the Senator’s counsel Robert Clarke argued that bail be given on the basis of self recognition, but this was countered by the prosecuting counsel.
Justice Longji therefore adjourned the hearing and deferred be bail consideration until next Wednesday. The next hearing has been provisionally fixed for next week when the bail shall again be considered

A Plateau State High Court sitting in Jos on Monday has fixed wednesday 16 May 2018 for the arraignment of Senator David Jang who is being detained by the EFCC for misappropriation of funds.
Reports say that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission had on Monday May 7, preferred a 12 count charge bordering on alleged corruption and misappropriation on Jang.
Sen. Jang who currently represents Plateau North Senatorial District, is alleged to have misappropriated over N6 billion two months to the end of his tenure as governor of Plateau State in 2015.
According to the charges, Jang is also said to have embezzled over N4 billion from the state coffers through a cashier in the office of the Secretary to the State Government, one Yusuf Pam, who is also charged along with Jang for also personally enriching himself with N11 million.
At the hearing, the prosecuting counsel, Rotimi Jacob (SAN) representing the EFCC, moved an experte application, to prefer the charge to the court.
Jacob said that the case was listed for an experte application for leave and not arraignment, he further prayed the court to give them two days to produce the accused persons before the court for proper arraignment.
Counsel representing Sen. Jang, Robert Clarke (SAN) while responding, expressed shock that his client has been behind bars since May 7, without bail and proper arraignment.
Clarke added that the arraignment should have been done owing that his client had been served with papers and the court served with same.
The judge, Justice D.D Longji, in his ruling said that what the prosecuting counsel did was right, as the matter was not ready for arraignment.
Longji said that the matter was for an experte application to prefer the charges before the court adding that he had to acknowledge the matter before arraignment.
He added that he had also received the bail application for the accused persons but cannot act on it until they (accused persons) have been properly arraigned.
He thereafter adjourned the matter to May 16, for proper arraignment and hearing for the application for bail.
Whistle Nigeria reports that over 200 Security men including Police, DSS and National Security and Civil Defense were position to secured the court in case of any breach of Law and order.



Meanwhile hundreds of Youths under the aegis of the Jang Support groups had protest what they term “jungle justice” of the senator. They queried why the senator was detained for 1 whole week, when he has been faithful in honouring all invitations by the EFCC.
The Youths had as early as 7:00am gather along the road linking the court holding Placards with inscriptions such as, ” Free Jang, Jang is the Messiah of the Middle Belt”.
Several who spoke to our correspondent in Jos indicated that Jang’s detention is simply a witch-hunt to derail his plans to contest the 2019 presidential elections. They accused the current APC administration for injustice.

The Youths also protested in support of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) anti-corruption campaign and latest arrests of prominent Nigerian public figures.

One of the protesters Pam Datiri said the Economic and Financial Crime Commission ( EFCC ) should be commended for investigations into the embezzlement of government money by previous administration in the state .
He said the anti-corruption stance of the present administration would ensure that such perfidy and use of money meant for the development of the country by politicians at the corridor of power would not happen again.
We therefore urged EFCC to leave no stone unturned to make sure that monies stolen from the state is returned .
“We are commending EFCC for their plans of taking Senator Jang to court so that when found guilty justice will take its cause, which will sound as a warning to others who may want to so corrupt themselves by diverting public funds meant for the provision of social amenities for our citizens
Our interest is to ensure corrupt free society and for the first time we have seen a government that is determined to rid this scourge from the country,” Pam said.

Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau State has released N375 million for the purchase of 800 hectares of land for the construction of mass Low Cost Housing Units for Civil Servants in the state.

Lalong said his administration is determined to ensure that most civil servants in the state own their own houses before the end of his first tenure.

The Governor stated this on Tuesday during the 2018 May Day celebration tag, “Labour Movement in National Development: Dare to struggle, Dare to win” organised by Plateau State Councils of NLC/TUC, held at the Rwang Pam Township Stadium Jos.

“As parts of the Rescue Administration’s efforts in ensuring that civil servants own their own Houses, I have approved the released of N375 million for the purchase of about 800 hectares of land at Rakfiki Area in Bassa Local Government Area for the construction of mass Low Cost Housing Units.

“Also, through collaboration with the Federal Mortgage Bank (FMBN) with the support of the Governor, over 600 civil servants have so far benefitted from the Home Renovation Loan of Maximum of N1 million each, each the inception of the scheme in march 2017, thus making the state one of the highest beneficiaries.”

Governor Lalong, who was represented by Head of Service, Izam Azi, promised to look into the issue of salaries withheld as a result of the ‘no work, no pay’ policy by previous administration for Tertiary Institutions and Local Government Staff and said the payment is being delay due to paucity of funds.
He assured the affected Staff that Government is committed to offsetting of the outstanding salaries and appealed for patience as concerted efforts is being made to fulfil the out of court agreement entered with Labour.

Chairman, Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Jibrin Bancir, called on Government to consider the payment of withheld salaries for Local Government and Tertiary Institutions on the basis of ‘No work, No pay’ as it priority to ensure a healthy working relationship with the Labour.

“The NLC is calling on government without delay to pay the balance of e “No work, No pay” it is owing Local Government workers, Primary school Teachers and Tertiary Institutions. The lack of the payment of these legitimate earning after a consent judgement which elapsed on the 31 December, 2017 is unacceptable and all efforts must be on deck to ensure it is cleared for industrial peace and harmony.”

He urged Governor Lalong to ensure the harmonization of minimum wage at the Local Government to bring a relief to the staff and stressed that the action would go along way in improving the economic standard of the average workers at that level of governance.

Comrade Bancir advised government to put in place machineries for the implementation of new minimum wage as it will come with serious challenges when it is announce by the Federal Government.

The Nigerian Army Troops of 3 Division Garrison Jos Plateau State, have reported the arrest of 7 suspects with weapons recovered in relation to the recent clash between Miango community and herdsmen at Rafiki Village on Wednesday 14 March 2018.

TROOPS ARREST 7 SUSPECTS, RECOVER WEAPONS IN CLASH AT MIANGO COMMUNITY.

Troops of 3 Division Garrison Jos Plateau State arrested 7 suspects and recovered weapons in the clash between Miango community and herdsmen at Rafiki Village on Wednesday 14 March 2018. The troops responded to distress calls to the clash reported by locals. As troops moved in to settle the dispute, the herdsmen opened fire on troops convoy. 2 soldiers paid the supreme price. 7 suspects were arrested in connection with the clashes.

While conducting search, troops discovered 23 dead bodies at Mararaba Dare shortly before Rafiki Village and many civilians were wounded. 2 other soldiers wounded are receiving medical attention at 3 Division Military Hospital and Medical Services. They are stable.

Weapons recovered include one Ak 47 assault rifle with 26 rounds of 7.62mm special and One locally made single barrel loaded with 15 rounds.

Troops have intensified patrol within the general area to forestall further break down of law and other.

The president went on to commission state projects and host a town hall meeting where he Launched/unveiled the Plateau Road Map To Peace a 5year working project by the Plateau State Peace Building Agency.

President Muhammadu Buhari is in Plateau State for an official visit to Commission Projects and Hold a Town hall meeting to endorse the five year peace plan by the State Peace Building Agency.
The State Governor and his Cabinet, Political leaders, National Assembly Representatives from the State, captains of industries, APC chieftains and illustrious sons and daughters of the State earlier welcomed the the August Visitor, President Muhammadu Buhari. at the Airport.
Among those sighted at the Airport are: Gov. Simon Lalong, Deputy Governor Prof. Sonnie Tyoden, Senator Mantu, Dame Pauline Tallen Former Deputy Governor of Plateau State, former Deputy Governor Ignatius Longjang, Minister of Youth and Sports Hon. Barr. Solomon Dalung, House of representatives Members present include Hon. Timothy Golu, Hon. Istifanus Gyang, Hon. Edward Pwajok and Hon. Suleiman Kwande while Senator David Jonah Jang and Sen. Dariye were also spotted among many other dignitaries.

Buhari proceeded to commission the Maraban-Jama’a to Jos Express Road and the Secretariat Junction flyover amidst huge crowd and tight security.

The President as custom and tradition demands has also paid courtesy call on the Gbong Gwom Jos and Chairman Plateau State Joint Traditional Council Atchison official Residence, Jishe Jos North LGA.

The Plateau State Government has cleared the air on the erroneous misgivings on social media and some broadcast stations about the statement credited to Governor Simon Lalong about the recent happenings in Benue State.

The governor through a press statement has expressed displeasure and further clarified the statement credited to him, in which he was quoted as having said he warned Governor Ortom of Benue state not to implement the anti open grazing law, He said it is sad that his expression which bothered on the plateau situation, in which he said he was waiting for the provision of the ranching alternative ahead of the total ban on open grazing in the State, was taken out of context and completely misquoted when his response on peer review of policies with his Counterparts from neighboring state was responded to in the affirmative.

BENUE KILLINGS: LET NIGERIANS NOT SPIT ON THE GRAVE OF THE VICTIMS.
The Executive Governor of Plateau State Rt Hon Simon Bako Lalong has expressed serious displeasure at the manner in which reports making the rounds on social media and some broadcast stations, concerning the interview he granted to members of the Press, after his meeting with President Mohammadu Buhari at the Aso villa Abuja of Thursday the 11th of January 2018.
The Executive Governor in his clarification on the statement credited to him, in which he was quoted as having said he warned Governor Ortom of Benue state not to implement the anti open grazing law, said it is sad that his expression which bothered on the plateau situation, in which he said he was waiting for the provision of the ranching alternative ahead of the total ban on open grazing in the State, was taken out of context and completely misquoted when his response on peer review of policies with his Counterparts from neighboring state was responded to in the affirmative.
The Governor berated those who have taken to the social media to make negative statements and draw political capital out of the unfortunate situation in Benue, while the pains in the grieving hearts of the victims where still fresh. The Governor added that those whose unrestrained and uncensored penchant for quick shares of negative news, has become an attitude of their new age media engagements, to know that to make a mockery of the pains of the people of Benue by spitting and dancing on the Graves of those killed in cold blood will draw the wrath of God.
The Governor in a show of solidarity and shared grief with the people of Benue and indeed all Nigerians of conscience committed to finding a lasting solution to the Herders and farmers conflict in Nigeria, expressed his deepest sympathy in a phone conversation with Governor Ortom.
He gave assurances of the prayers of the people of Plateau state for God's Comfort to the bereaved families, and for the repose of the souls of all those killed in the wake of the attack.
Governor Lalong wishes to assure the people of Plateau State and indeed all Nigerians, that Dialogue around all the options for peaceful coexistence amongst all citizens, remain the best solution to any situation that is a threat to peace in the country. He advised all to explore the benefits in the ranching and cattle Colonies proposed by the Federal Government as an alternative to open grazing, which will certainly be banned as part of the solution to the incessant farmers and herdsmen conflict all around the country.

Governor Simon Bako Lalong has declared a cash reward of 1.5million and a piece of land in the state for each member of the victorious Plateau United squad.

On Thursday, 21st, December, Governor Lalong hosted a dinner at the banquet hall of the new government house to honor the newly crowned champions Plateau United. In his speech the governor said he has approved the raise in the players payment package. The Governor announced a N30million reward from the 17 LGAs and a N50million reward from the state totaling the some of N80million which will see each football player getting 1.5million. The coaching staff, management staff, supporters club and sports bodies will have various sums to share between them.

Some Residents of the central area of Jos Plateau State were allegedly attacked by unknown persons who went on to destroy vehicles and properties caused by negative reaction to the agitations of Independent People of Biafra (IPOB) in the South East.


Thursday 14th September which started as a normal day with businesses moving, later turned scary as people within the metropolis of the central area of Jos Plateau State started running and leading to early closure of business with rumors of an impending crises.
As at the time(5pm) of filling this report major streets were all deserted with businesses closed as no other source could be reached to comment on the happenings.
The Governor of Plateau State, Simon Lalong, has directed an immediate imposition of curfew from dusk to dawn (6pm – 6am) within the Greater Jos – Bukuru Metropolis, until further notice. The deployment of security personnel to all flash points within the metropolis has also been directed to ensure compliance with the curfew order and to avert any further breach of law and order.

Two top teams on the Nigeria Professional Football log, Plateau United and MFM FC, ended their respective games in draws on Sunday.

Lagos based team, MFM FC blew away the chance to catch up with Plateau United as they could only register a barren draw in their home clash against Enyimba FC at the Agege Stadium in Lagos.
This is the fifth game between MFM FC and Enyimba that would end in a stalemate.
On their part, Plateau United did themselves a lot of good as they forced a 1-1 draw in Kano against Pillars.
There was goals rain in Makurdi where Abia Warriors beat their hosts, Lobi Stars, 2-4.
In the relegation fight between ABS FC and Remo Stars, the Saraki boys did themselves a lot of good; beating the Sky Blues 2-0 in Ilorin.
There were also home wins for the trio of Sunshine Stars, Niger Tornadoes and Shooting Stars who beat Akwa United, El-Kanemi Warriors and Gombe United respectively.
Wikki Tourist could not make their home advantage count as they were held 1-1 by Enugu Rangers
