Foreign Affairs › US Sending 10,000 More Troops To Middle East Despite Iran Ceasefire by Mattswaggz(op): 7:28pm On Apr 15 |
The United States is sending more than 10,000 additional troops to the Middle East before the end of April as Washington tries to increase pressure on Iran, US officials have told The Washington Post.
The newspaper, quoting current and former US officials speaking on condition of anonymity, reported on Tuesday that the US was sending about 6,000 troops on board the USS George HW Bush carrier and the ships escorting it to the region.
Approximately 4,200 other troops from the Boxer Amphibious Ready Group and its embarked Marine Corps task force, the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit, are expected to arrive near the end of the month, the report said.
It was previously announced that roughly 50,000 troops had been involved in operations in the war on Iran since its beginning on February 28.
With the looming arrival of the USS George HW Bush, which is reportedly sailing around Africa, the number of carriers in the region will reach three.
The USS Abraham Lincoln and the USS Gerald Ford are in the Middle East and participated in the fighting against Iran.
The report, which largely remains unverified , comes as the US pressed ahead on Wednesday with a naval blockade it said had cut off maritime trade with Iran. https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2026/4/15/us-sending-10000-more-troops-to-middle-east-despite-iran-ceasefire

North Korea is showing a “very serious increase” in its ability to produce atomic weapons, according to Rafael Grossi, the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
The diplomatically isolated country is believed to operate multiple facilities for enriching uranium, a key step in making nuclear warheads, South Korea’s spy agency has said. These include one at the Yongbyon nuclear site, which Pyongyang purportedly decommissioned after talks but later reactivated in 2021.
"In our periodic assessments, we have been able to confirm that there’s a rapid increase in the operations” of the Yongbyon reactor, Grossi told reporters in Seoul on Wednesday.
The agency also observed a rise in operations at Yongbyon’s reprocessing unit and light-water reactor, as well as the activation of other facilities, Grossi said.
“All that points to a very serious increase in the capabilities of [the] DPRK in the area of nuclear weapons production, which is estimated at a few dozen warheads,” he said, using North Korea’s official name. https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2026/4/15/north-korea-boosting-ability-to-make-nuclear-arms-iaea

Foreign Affairs › Trump Hints Iran Talks Could Resume This Week As US Maritime Blockade Continues by Mattswaggz(op): 2:52am On Apr 15 |
President Donald Trump has suggested talks aimed at ending the war in Iran could resume this week, after negotiations collapsed at the weekend, prompting the US to blockade Iranian ports.
"You should stay there [Islamabad], really, because something could be happening over the next two days, and we're more inclined to go there," Trump was quoted as saying in an interview with the New York Post.
His remarks came as the American military said no ships had passed through the US-enforced blockade of Iranian ports and coastal areas in the first 24 hours of the operation.
The stand-off has raised doubts over the prospects for a two-week ceasefire that is due to expire next week.
The Iranian side has not yet responded to Trump's remarks, but United Nations Secretary General António Guterres said it was "highly probable" that talks would restart. https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c20ddnz4w5lo

Lukuluku69: So, watching and learning will cure a man from being evil, selfish, greedy and his wicked nature?
To every his thoughts and ways, you can actually live your life as such.....
But why stand in the way of those who believe that God Almighty choose from amongst men, a man to deliver the message of not being evil, selfish, greedy and of wicked nature? Is that not a possibility also? That is not just a possibility.... it's close to the truth but it's men not a "man" and those men are spread across different continent, race, ethnicity,tribe,Nations.....no one holds the ultimate truth as some religious beliefs proclaim....Good and evil is what differentiate light from darkness and good and evil people are everywhere in every race.....those people selling division using the Almighty's name have an agenda and it's far from being good in most cases. The Almighty has demonstrated through nature equal love, distribution of talents and resources to keep us in need of one another but some people are preaching division in the name of religion.......what can I say though....each man to his own but actions have consequences. |

Lukuluku69: True but even with physical evidence of a spherical earth, flat Earthers still hold on to that belief unfortunately the Fay of Judgement is not for this realm so, no evidence Now you've answered the question appropriately.....a piece of an advice though....the best way to know the Almighty is to focus on reality, study his creations using the brain He gave you and the truth will reveal itself.... depending on men to tell you everything is very risky(90+%). If there is an Almighty God out there and he created men then they would most likely be the least creation He will depend on to spread His message to humanity given their evil, selfish, greedy and wicked nature.....instead He will do it Himself using Nature which is there for all to admire, gain from, learn from and see the truth they need to on their own without being coersed by fear like those who preach "Hell" if one doesn't acknowledge their opinion about the Almighty. |

The Federal Government says Nigeria’s petrol price is about 50% lower than the global average. Petrol prices rose significantly after subsidy removal, but remain lower compared to some countries. The government says the Naira-for-crude policy has helped shift Nigeria towards exporting refined products. The federal government has said petrol prices in Nigeria remain significantly lower than the global average, attributing the development to economic reforms introduced under President Bola Tinubu’s administration, PUNCH reported. The Executive Chairman of the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS), Zacch Adedeji, made this known on Tuesday during the commissioning of the agency’s headquarters in Abuja. https://www.legit.ng/business-economy/energy/1705503-fg-justifies-petrol-price-nigeria-50-global-average/Fergie001 , Nlfpmod

US President Donald Trump on Tuesday launched a stinging criticism of Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, one of his main European allies, over her unwillingness to join the Iran war.
“I’m shocked at her. I thought she had courage, but I was wrong,” he said in an interview with Italian daily Corriere della Sera.
The interview was published the day after Meloni condemned as “unacceptable” Trump’s criticism of Pope Leo XIV, after the pontiff’s repeated calls for an end to the war in the Middle East.
“She’s unacceptable because she doesn’t mind that Iran has a nuclear weapon and would blow up Italy in two minutes if they had the chance,” Trump said in English.
Meloni, Italy’s far-right leader since October 2022, has been one of Trump’s closest allies in Europe and often seeks to act as a mediator between diverging US and European views.
But the president said they had not spoken this month, “not in a long time”, saying: “She doesn’t help us with NATO.
“She doesn’t want to help get rid of a nuclear-weaponed Iran. Very sad… She’s much different than I thought.” https://punchng.com/italys-pm-lacks-courage-on-iran-war-trump/

France and Britain will co-host a video conference on Friday with countries ready to contribute to a “purely defensive mission” to secure the Strait of Hormuz, the French president’s office said.
President Emmanuel Macron and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer will co-chair the meeting to discuss a plan to “restore freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz when security conditions allow”, it said on Tuesday.
A spokesman for the British prime minister’s office said: “The summit will advance work towards a coordinated, independent, multinational plan to safeguard international shipping once the conflict ends.”
US-Israeli strikes on Iran in late February sparked a region-wide war and brought traffic through the Strait of Hormuz to a near standstill, blocking a key route for global oil and gas shipments. https://punchng.com/france-uk-to-host-hormuz-talks-friday-official/
