Pope Leo on Monday visited the Great Mosque of Algiers, often referred to as the “Mosque of Algeria”, as part of his 11-day tour of Africa.

According to EWTN Vatican, upon entering the mosque, which is home to the world’s highest minaret, the Pope removed his shoes as a gesture of respect.

At the mosque, Pope Leo reportedly highlighted the site’s spiritual significance and paused in silent meditation.

“Welcomed by the Rector of the Mosque, Mohamed Mamoun al Qasim, who offered words of fraternity, the Pope said.

The Grand Mosque of Algiers is reportedly the third-largest mosque in the world, capable of accommodating up to 120,000 worshippers.

The Iranian military says an announced naval blockade on vessels by the United States in international waters would be illegal and amount to piracy, warning that no Gulf ports would be safe if its own were threatened.

Cuba president talks tough about Trump as nation braces for US attack: ‘If we need to die, we’ll die’

Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel has revealed that his island nation is bracing for an attack from the US and declared that he is willing to die resisting President Trump.

Since last December, the US has imposed a blockade around Venezuela as part of its Operation Southern Spear effort, and used that to cut off oil supplies to Cuba, which has since plunged further into an energy crisis.

“I don’t think there would be any justification for the United States to launch a military aggression against Cuba, or for the US to undertake a surgical operation or the kidnapping of a president,” Díaz-Canel told NBC’s “Meet the Press” on Sunday, per a translation.

“If that happens, there will be fighting, and there will be a struggle, and we will defend ourselves, and if we need to die, we’ll die, because as our national anthem says, ‘dying for the homeland is to live.’”

The Trump administration has privately signaled to Cuba’s communist government that Díaz-Canel must go, the New York Times reported.

Díaz-Canel, the first pol outside the Castro family to lead the island nation since the Cuban Revolution, has refused to step aside.

Only because the US basically is a colony of Israel, owned and controlled by the Jews. Almost everything the US does in the middle-east, outside protecting its petrodollar collaborators on the GCC, is for the interest of Israel. Have you so soon forgotten WMD Iraq? Libya? Syria? Yemen? Gaza?

Let's not pretend that Iran was ever any threat to the US. Besides China and Russia and maybe North Korea, hardly anyone in the world has ICBMs capable of striking the US mainland, and if any of those did the concept of Mutually Assured Destruction will ensure their obliteration. So no, no one in the middle-east is any sort of military threat to the US.

Israel, on the other hand, has lots to gain by neutering its neighbors, either via the so-called Abraham Accords, or militarily, with the understanding that in no scenario would Israel allow anyone in the region to match or surpass its military power. And for this, the US (and formerly most of Europe) is a dependable workhorse.

Israel has nukes and more powerful military so it should be able to take care of itself.

For the 47 years the Ayatollahs have been in power and chanting "death to America" mention one instance they actually attacked the US. There's a reason all past US presidents refused Netanyahu's desire to have the US attack Iran, until this bumbling oaf came along.

Or how about North Korea which is kinda technically still at war with the US via South Korea, has nukes pointed at Washington, and threatens the US nonstop on the daily?

LoLz. NO! Iran would not be using the strait as a bargaining chip if the US has not attacked them. Now the US has to commit resources to something that wasn't a problem. That is not a good strategy at all.

Amazing how you're all focusing on the seeming political optics and overlooking the most important factor: global economics including the US. Russia has zero oil passing the Strait, China has like 30% of its needs transiting there....but US allies Japan and South Korea each has like 70% of its oil needs passing the Strait.

So Trump is going to roil the world's economy and further impoverish Americans in a critical election year just to own Iran at its own game, during a deeply unpopular war, and when a recession is all but guaranteed for the US economy because of trump's bizarre foreign policy?

You all can bask in your support for the US and Trump's misadventures, but there are real world repercussions that will affect almost everyone. Nigeria is already grappling with gas at like N1,300/liter and further strangulation is what you're all advocating.... strange way of looking at things.

Even if the strait was opened a week ago, it'll be months before oil falls and stabilizes. Further impeding passage would only strangle oil flow, spook the markets, and deepen the oil price crisis all over the world.

To you, it's a masterful gambit of an eye for an eye; for the world, it's complete blindness.

If Iran can't sell oil to China, the regime in Iran is doomed.

If China can't buy cheap oil from Iran and Venezuela, the Chinese economy will suffer greatly.

Iran made it clear that they can hold the world hostage, remember another passage where the houthis(Iran sponsored terrorist) block the water ways in Yemen, Iran is also doing theirs via strait of Hormus.
Since they want to use it as a leverage, they have made it clear to the world what they can do and US will not have any of that.
