The fire is still raging and the military need to put it under control before any election is conducted. This action is for d benefit of us all, let's keep politics aside. I salute u all.

…as Army foils attempt to seize Damboa

Scores of suspected members of the Boko Haram terrorists were yesterday killed by the troops of the Nigerian Army when they attempted to attack Damboa town, the headquarters of Damboa Local Government area of Borno State, according to sources.

A resident of the area, Mallam Mohammed Bulama, told our correspondent on phone that the insurgents who came at about noon to attack the town were crushed by the troops of 195 Battalion of the Nigerian army.

He said, “Scores of the Boko Haram insurgents, who attempted to attack Damboa at about 12:00 PM met their Waterloo, as the troops of the Nigerian Army intercepted them at Kalla village at the outskirts of Damboa”.

A civilian member of the Joint Task Force, JTF, Abbas Haske said the insurgents were intercepted at Kalla village, about two kilometers away from Damboa when the troops of the Nigerian Army sighted them.

He said, “The insurgents who came about noon were incepted by the troops, which swiftly reacted by shooting artillery missiles and repelled them; they crushed all of them, as scores of them were killed in the process.”

According to him, the army has done a good job, as the insurgents’ corpses and burnt vehicles were scattered by the roadside in the bushes.

A military source, who did not want his name in print, told our correspondent in Maiduguri that the troops in Damboa successfully foiled another attempt to take over the town, as they crushed the insurgents.

“Yes, our troops in Damboa this afternoon successfully foiled an attempt to sack Damboa town, where they killed scores of the insurgents,” he said.

Politics / Re: APC Reacts To Election Shift, Says It's “Highly Provocative” by Matty33(m): 11:14am On Feb 08, 2015

seriously if u watch d conference and listen carefully u will see that on the part of INEC everything is okay, but thier hands was tied with the electoral act constitution jega mentioned and to better understand what was wrong all we need is a week. the so call security heads that wrote the letter will av no choice than to strt acting in accordance wit wat dey mentioned in the letter. which is to fight d BH and restore an atmosphere where election culd take place in the affected areas. if d north av been cooperative ever since the so call campaign it wuldnt av added fuel to this, burning campaign cars further strengthing d need for protection of lives and properties. over 600,000 youth will be involve in this not to talk of d staff of inec and d society at large. so the postponement is a gud justification on my part but d security must start acting to show that they were not influenced. no matter wat the case may be the next president as been destined right from the day he was born. I jst pray he and his entourage ar dose that will bring the positive change we really need.
opinion from a 2 yrs unemployed grad.
My friend, good job. I equally believe in destiny, our next President has already been destined. All we owe the country at this point in time is to rally round ourselves and use our God's given weapons; eyes, ears, hands and legs to support our security agencies to crush BH. The fight should not be left for them alone cos security is a collective responsibility of us all. Once again, well done.

This election postponement is most embarrassing and a testament that Preofessor Attahiru Jega is an incompetent and clueless dude just like the President. This is the first time since we returned to democracy that the INEC Boss will openly take orders from the NSA, the Military and members of pro-PDP as regards election scheduling and rescheduling. Since when has the Military activities determines elections scheduling? The Electoral Act and the Constitution did not say NSA, Military and INEC should determine election date. Even if there is crises in a part of the country, Section 26(1) of the Electoral Act 2010 (amended) permit INEC to hold election in the peaceful area and reschedule for the trouble zone at a convenient date. Why can't Jega invoke this section and exclude Gombe, Borno, Adamawa and Yobe from Feb 14 and Feb 28 poll until March 28 and Aprill 11 respectively? Since when do we need the Military for election? What is the Statutory duties of the Police, the NSCDC, and by extension the DSS with respect to internal security? If personnels are not enough then why not bring in other paramilitary to assist? Must it be the Military? Was the Military used in 2003, 2007 and 2011 election? Militarisation started from Edo 2012,then Ondo(2012), Anambra(2011), Osun and Ekiti(2014) Gubernatorial contests. When did the Military become statutory responsible for internal security? The letter of the Chief of Defense State that was communicated to Jega through NSA Sambo Dasuki is treachery and unfortunate. Jega's announcement yesternight only confirmed that he doesn't know what he is doing. This is a shame, our democracy has been raped.
Some of you have eyes and ears that are not useful. How I wish your siblings were affected in the ongoing crisis then u would have known that the threat posed by BH is real. And the decision to postpone d election was therefore right, we can't do without military assistance pls.

Nice one, Boko Haram is a political gimmick used to discredit GEJ's govt.]I thought they said Jonathan is not working. Those Apc mongers would never come to this thread I tell you, Enemies of progress indeed. They hate Gej because of boko haram, I keep telling people that when the north is ready, boko haram would be a thing of the past. I heard some parents in the north donated their daughter for a suicide bomb mission.
Nice one my bros, the president is innocent.
Very nice gesture.
APC wants us to believe Nigerian Army is useless while we know they are at the Battle front trying to defend this territorial space called Nigeria. So many of them have died at the hot fronts.

Kudos to the Nigerian army, your efforts are well appreciated.

All we need at this moment is the cooperation of the northern elements to nip bokoharam in the bud. They need to stop seeing the insurgency as a political tool against the GEJ led FG.

God bless NA, God bless Nigeria.
