okay thank you very much, my sister has all the funds, she can even provide up to 20months bank statement to prove to th IRCC that the fund is hers.
What I just need is the list of financial documents that i can show to prove to IRCC
that I will be able to use my sisters money for my education.

I had applied in 2021 but my application was refused. I didn’t have to do another biometrics because the one for 2021 was for 10 years. I didn’t get any update until September 15 from IRCC

Hello everyone. Thank you for all the support through my study permit application.

My permit has been approved and I'll be travelling to Toronto shortly. Two things I'd appreciate help with.
1. Airline

Flying out of Nigeria. Choosing between Qatar Airways, EgyptAir, KLM, Lufthansa, Etihad Airway, Turkish Airlines, and Ethiopian Airlines. Based on experience:
• I’m tilting towards Royal Air Maroc Ethiopia Airlines, Lufthansa, KLM and British Airways but I have fears of transit visa issues with KLM, British Airways and Lufthans. Anyone with experience with this airlines, transit visa requirements for Nigerian passport holders and which one will you recommend?

2. Port-of-entry documents
This is my list so far:
• Passport
• Letter of Acceptance
• Provincial Attestation Letter (PAL)
• Tuition payment receipt
• GIC confirmation letter
• University degree certificate and transcripts
• O'level (WAEC) certificate

What am I missing please? Thanks a lot.

Thank you for your response. If I get a GIC account and fund it with a sponsor money, will be i be able to get the money out to the owner any time?

My sponsor has funded my GIC with CAD22,000+ and the student chequeing account with 20,000CAD all in TD bank Canada just to show as POF, and he will need back his money in no distant time. If eventually my study permit got approved,
Is it advisable for him to withdrawal his money immediately after I got approved, or just leave the money intact in the GIC till I enter Canada?

Will Canada immigration check and verify my POF at the port of entry to know wether the funds are still intact? He will need his money soon. Please I need answers

Hello everyone, I would appreciate hearing from anyone who has been through something similar.
Timeline
• Applied for study permit: 4 July 2026
• Program: Post-Graduate Certificate (CloudOps), York University School of Continuing Studies
• Start date: 10 September 2026
• Biometrics: completed
• Medical: upfront medical completed before study permit application
• Tuition: CAD 18,958 paid in full
• Proof of funds: CAD 22,000 GIC with CIBC, plus additional family funds
• Published processing time for Nigeria: 9 weeks, now reached
• Status: no decision or update on Study permit application.

Also, I submitted an IRCC webform asking for the file to be reviewed before my start date. No response so far.

Where it gets complicated now is that, my program only runs once a year, in September. So a straight deferral would mean September 2027, a full year.

The program I’m enrolled in ends 11 May 2027, so I was concerned that if my permit were approved now, the validity wouldn’t cover a 2027 start and I’d be reapplying from scratch anyway. I asked the school about deferring instead into a January 2027 certificate in a related field (cyber security operations since cloud security is my intended specialization, so the switch is genuine, not a workaround).

The school replied that they don’t allow program changes after enrolment. They said they will process a withdrawal from my current program, hold the funds I’ve paid as a credit, and I must submit a fresh application for the January program.

So I’m now looking at a pending study permit application resting on a Letter of Acceptance for a program I’m being withdrawn from, with no new LOA yet and no admission decision for the new program.

Questions
1. Has anyone had a file decided after the start date on their LOA had passed? Was it refused on the basis that you could no longer begin the program, or did the officer work around it?
2. Does updating a pending application by webform with a new LOA actually work in practice? Did IRCC assess against the new start date and issue a permit matching it?
3. My medical is valid until roughly mid-2027. For anyone whose start date moved well out, did IRCC request a fresh medical, or issue a letter of introduction that expired before the new start?
4. Program change at the same DLI while the application is pending: has anyone done this successfully? Any issues with the officer questioning the change of study plan?
5. Is it better to let this application run to a decision, or withdraw it and submit a clean application once the new LOA is in hand? I keep going back and forth.
Any experience welcome, including bad outcomes. I’d rather know.

So I’m hoping for my brother to do a diploma program here for fall 2027 and application for schools are already opening up. But my worry is the POF.
I will be sponsoring most of it but not sure how that will affect his visa application and how to proof that. I moved here from the UK last year but don’t have a job yet in Canada but I’ve got enough savings from my previous job that covers his POF. Not just sure how to go about proving that which is very crucial. Will just bank statements and old payslip work?
Or should I start now to send a significant amount of money to his account monthly?

Yes, it’s a very big problem. I cannot stay in a place where I do not have access to indomie so it’s a very big problem but thank goodness I saw a lot of them in the African stores.

I have been reading through the experiences shared here and the advice provided, and they have been really helpful.

Please, I need some advice. I have now received a refusal twice, both on financial grounds, and I am quite confused about the reasons given.

In my first refusal, the officer stated that they were not satisfied that there was a relationship between my co-sponsor and me (my mother), and therefore they were not convinced that the funds would be accessible to me. However, my mother had already gifted me the money, and the funds were in my personal account. I addressed this issue in my second application by providing the necessary supporting documents. I also paid my tuition in full and purchased a GIC.

However, I received another refusal, and I would really appreciate some clarification:

1. Tuition: The officer noted “partial tuition paid,” even though I had actually paid the full tuition. The payment was made in three instalments. I paid the first semester before my first application, and after the first refusal, my school required me to pay the second semester before issuing a new LOE. I made the additional payment, and because the tuition had increased, I paid the balance to complete the full amount. I provided all three receipts, and they were uploaded together in one folder.
2. GIC: I also purchased a GIC, but the officer stated that I would not have access to the funds for my living expenses. This is where I am particularly confused because the GIC was specifically purchased to cover my living expenses in Canada.

I’m honestly not sure what I may have missed or how I should address these concerns if I decide to reapply.

I would really appreciate advice from anyone who has experienced something similar or can help me understand what the officer may have meant.
