Drugs have been rampant since the 70s and 80s especially amongst lots of blacks who used it as a coping mechanism to deal with some of the horrors being inflicted on them during apartheid. Nigerians started going there in the late 90s after apartheid ended in 1994.

Nigerians are not and will never be on the same level with black south Africans..na jealously Naim go kill una..Other smart African countries are learning fast from Nigerians but envy and self hate can't allow lesudafricaine see clearly.

That is because during apartheid, the Boers mentally stunted these guys, did a serious number on them. Gave them bad schools, segregation, terrible salaries and violence the Boers inflicted on them. Not many black SA today are equipped to be entrepreneurs or innovators especially in complex fields like software engineering, electro-mechanical inventions like what the guys are inventing in Anambra, Innoson and the likes, all fields where a lot of young Nigerians are excelling. Look at the top IT companies in the world collectively known as FANG - Facebook, Amazon, Netflix and Google. The top black people in all these companies are not even black Americans, but Nigerians, either in Software engineering, business development, marketing or HR division. A supermajority of black South Africans are locked to their country because in a true rugged meritocracy out there in the real world, they can't survive. You have millions of Nigerians who with money are earning Bachelors, Masters even Doctorate degree. Most black SA don't bother after high/secondary school. They have no hustling spirit, very little ambition to rise to the next level, Most are not exposed to other cultures and different views of life and are satisfied in earning peanut salary from their Boer and Asian masters. Just basic people. No ambition, perpetual under-achievers. This is why the whites, Asians and even colored in SA don't respect them and segregate themselves from them. When you go to SA, even today, outside office environment, you barely see the different races relate with each other. The country is a ticking time bomb waiting to explode especially due to the massive economic discrepancies between blacks in SA and other groups. That is why foreigners are always an easy target for the blacks in SA to vent off on. ANC has failed these people.
