An Italian priest gave up denying himself the feeling of having a partner in his life and the advantages it brings when he confessed in the middle of Mass that he was hanging his cassock because he had fallen in love with a woman. The revelation of Don Riccardo Ceccobelli took place in a homily held in the city of Todi, in the province of Perugia, located in the center of the country. In the middle of his preaching, the parishioners of the church of Massa Martana learned the biggest secret of the 41-year-old priest. Ceccobelli said that he would give up the habit of living love in freedom. “I am in love and I want to live this love without sublimating it or taking it away,” he said. “My heart fell in love, I have never betrayed the promises I made, but I want to try to live this love. I cannot be coherent, transparent and correct with the Church as I have been until now ”. The priest in an interview with the Italian media confessed his love for Laura, a 26-year-old nurse who is also a catechist. Bishop Gualtiero Sigismondi, who was in the audience, thanked him for his transparency. “I thank Don Riccardo for all the service provided so far. And first of all, I send you my sincere wishes so that this decision, taken in full freedom as he himself told me, guarantees peace and serenity ”. On how he fell in love with Laura, Ceccobelli said: “We have known each other for 4 years because I was the pastor of Massa Martana for six years and we met in the parish. But it was since September that something in me changed forever. I started to feel an emotion inside me, but at first I did everything I could to keep the situation under control, I swear to you, I was hoping that I would find a boyfriend, but with each passing day, I felt sicker. and sicker. One night he urgently needed to call her on the phone. I couldn’t sleep if I didn’t hear your voice. When she answered me, I said, ‘Hello, hello, it’s me,’ and I immediately felt well-being and peace within me. I fell asleep. On January 1, I submitted my resignation from the parish. The procedures for the resignation of the priest have already begun. |

Association of Resident Doctors in Enugu State University Teaching Hospital, ESUT-TH Parklane, has called off its strike to allow more time for negotiations with the state government, after it indefinitely withdrew services of her members on April 24. The doctors have been at daggers drawn with the state government, withdrawing their services intermittently since February this year over government’s failure to implement the approval of proper placement on 2019 doctors’ salary scale presently obtained for their counterparts in other tertiary health institutions. The National Association of Resident Doctors, the Nigeria Medical Association, the Nigeria Medical, and Dental Council and other stakeholders had expressed solidarity with the ESUT-TH Resident Doctors. The citizens of Enugu, although sympathetic with the plight of the doctors, however, implored them to consider resuming work, for the sake of the ravaging Coronavirus pandemic. In a statement, on Wednesday, by the President of the ARD ESUT-TH, Dr. Chima Edoga and General Secretary, Dr. Nonso Ofonere, the doctors said they were resuming work for two months to allow the state government comply with its latest promise to pay them the agitated pay package. Edoga said that they returned to work 8am on Wednesday because the people of Enugu state deserved their services at this Covid-19 era, more so when they have received assurances of complying with the 2019 CONMESS in the next two months. Wike the slayer |
Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike has accused the President Muhammadu Buhari government of playing politics with the relocation of Almajiris to their various States in the North. Many State governments are taking the measure to contain the spread of COVID-19 pandemic. Governor Wike spoke at the Government House in Port Harcourt, when he received traditional rulers on Tuesday. He insisted that the shutdown of Port Harcourt and Obio-Akpor local government areas was necessary to curtail the spread of the virus. “When they started relocating the almajiri in the North, the Federal Government said nothing. Immediately they heard that we have relocated some almajiri, they came up with the declaration that it is against the inter-state movement. Why this double standard?” he said. He called on the monarchs to set up a task force in their different communities to ensure that markets, hotels and beer parlours across the State remained closed. Wike also urged Local Government Area Chairmen to help the monarchs to implement the directive. Wike threatened to punish anyone who violates the State’s directive on the use of face masks and the closure of markets. He added, “As the hotels remain closed, those coming in will have nowhere to stay. When we are safe, we can enjoy what we can. I am not doing this because I hate anyone, but it is for the protection of our people. “No human being will see death and embrace it. We cannot kill ourselves. The only solution is to ensure social distancing and proper hygiene.” |
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has listed additional coronavirus preventive measures for citizens and businesses. Dr Chikwe Ihekweazu, Director General of NCDC, told NAN on Tuesday that the new directives followed evolving knowledge of COVID-19 in Nigeria. He said there must be mandatory use of a non-medical face mask/covering for all persons and overnight curfew from 8p.m. to 6a.m. Also mandatory are the provision of handwashing facilities/sanitisers, single use latex gloves are discouraged, except in clinical settings. “Restrictions on inter-state travel except for essential services or transportation. Physical distancing of two metres between people in workplaces and other public places; no large gatherings of more than 20 people outside the workplace,” he said. Companies are expected to provide handwashing facilities/alcohol-based sanitizers; promote thorough and frequent handwashing with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Ihekweazu stated that they are expected to enforce the use of face mask/covering for all staff at all times. Where staff members have regular face-to-face contact with customers, they must ensure they have the necessary protective equipment to keep them safe and their health protected. Ihekweazu urged businesses to: “Develop an infectious disease preparedness action plan to reduce the risk of exposure in the workplace and communicate it to all staff members. This includes identifying a central person focused on coordinating COVID-19 matters... ure the contact details and emergency contact details of all staff members are kept up to date and are always easily accessible. Ensure that staff members know how to spot the symptoms of coronavirus and they have a clear understanding what to do if they feel unwell, mandating unwell employees to stay at home. “Display signage in your office or business premises reminding staff and visitors to maintain good and respiratory hygiene. Discourage the sharing of work equipment, tools, computers, phones and desks.” Companies were told to encourage work from home policy, virtual meetings, limit customers in the business premises to about 30 per cent – 50 per cent capacity at any one time, decide on the level of staff required to come to work, as the business re-opens, e.g. support staff, receptionists, catering staff. “Consider the staggered re-introduction of staff members into the office, using staff rotas and flexible work hours or work shifts. Where possible, businesses should provide transportation for their employees to limit their use of public transport. “Limit the number of visitors to your office premises and take advantage of enterprise video conferencing tools. Put into place flexible workplace policies to respond to staff absenteeism, with an efficient process to ensure the smooth handover of work from one staff member to the other when required,” he stated. “If any employee is showing known symptoms of COVID-19, they should immediately self-isolate in a separate room in the office or business premises and call the state helpline or contact NCDC on 0800 9700 0010 for further guidance. While awaiting laboratory test results,” he said. Ihekweazu advised that if there is any suspected case of COVID-19 in any work place, employers should make sure that staff self-isolate and carry out a risk assessment to ascertain whether there is a need to close the office or business premises. He added that employees who were living in a household with a confirmed case of COVID-19 should also be asked to self-isolate for 14 days until all members in the household receive a negative test confirmation. The DG said that If they developed known COVID-19 symptoms during the self-isolation period, they should contact their state helpline or NCDC on 0800 9700 0010. |

There is tension in Anambra State following reported death of over 50 worshipers as gunmen launched early morning attack during a Sunday service. The attack occurred at St. Philip’s Catholic Church, Ugwu Oye in Ozubulu, Anambra State. News of the reported attack, which is being shared in various platforms read: “Black Sunday!! Many feared killed at an Early morning Catholic mass shooting by Unknown Gun men who stormed a church at Ozubulu in Ekwusigo LGA of Anambra State . Over 20 deaths recorded already according report . While I sympathize with all the affected families , I wish to submit that this is a time for we to unite against any form of barbarism against our people ! This is not a time for blame games ,but a time for great people created by great God to stand up and secure our people . Security agency must do everything to arrest the perpetuators of Ozubulu Massacre for them to face the law . No excuse should make anyone to move into a Church of God and start shooting innocent worshipers ! Our generation must not be intimidated by the agents of darkness !!! Information is still sketchy on the attack as of the time of filling this report. Latest information indicated that the gunmen were hunting for a drug baron, traced him to his house but were told he had gone to church. DAILY POST gathered that on getting to the church, he had left and out of anger, probably, they rained bullets on worshippers in the church. “About 47 persons were reported killed and many wounded”, another source hinted. Justice Letam Nyordee of a High Court in Port Harcourt has sentenced three out of the seven people facing trial in the killing of four students of the University of Port Harcourt popularly called Aluu4 to death. Those sentenced to death include, ex-Sergeant Lucky Orji, Ikechukwu Luis Amadi and David Chinasa Ogbonda. Justice Nyordee in his Judgment blamed the accused persons for embarking on mob action without having the facts about the action of the students. The Judge said the death of the four children was a culmination of the shameful failure of security institutions especially in the area of intelligence sharing, adding that the Police, the C4i and the Joint Military Task Force failed in their responsibilities. “You are found guilty in line with Section 319 of the Criminal Code cap 9. of the Laws of Rivers state.” Speaking with newsmen, counsel to the convicted persons, Chukwueze Ifedi said the decision of the court was based on findings of the investigation. For his part, the obviously disappointed Director of Public Prosecutions, Ibikiri Otorubio said the state will study the judgment and decide on the next line of action. “What we can say is that the judge has done his part and we will do our own. We will study the judgment and take the next action,” he said. Twelve people were standing trial for the murder of the young undergraduates but five were discharged early this year. Ugonna Obuzor, Toku Lloyd, Chiadika Biringa and Tekena Elkanah were killed on October 5th, 2012 at Omokiri community, Aluu in Ikwerre Local government area of Rivers state. Father of one of the killed students, Mike Torku expressed disappointment in the judgment. Torku said the only consolation from the decision of the court is that the children who were wrongly killed have been vindicated. He also expressed happiness that the matter which has been on since 2012 has come to an end. |
*A LESSON on HUMILITY to learn from the story of BODE THOMAS!* PLS SHARE WITH OUR CHILDREN AND OUR BOSS IN OFFICE Bode Thomas, yes, the same Bode Thomas, whom the Surulere street was named after, died on Nov 23, 1953 in a most mysterious manner. Bode Thomas was born to a wealthy trader, John thomas in 1918. Himself, FRA Williams and Remi Fani-Kayode (Father of Femi Fani-Kayode) attended Law School in London, and they established the first law firm in Nigeria, called "Thomas, Williams and Kayode". The law firm was established in Jankara, Lagos. Bode Thomas was an excellent lawyer, but he was also very *arrogant*. Because of his education, he was made chairman of the Oyo Divisional Council at one time, while the King of Oyo, Alaafin Adeyemi, (the father of the current Alaafin) was a mere member. On Bode Thomas' first appearance in council after being appointed chairman, all council members stood up for him in deference, to welcome him, except Oba Adeyemi, who, for cultural reasons, should not show deference to anyone in public, not even his mother. Bode Thomas rudely shouted at the King"...WHY WERE YOU SITTING WHEN I WALKED IN? YOU DON'T KNOW HOW TO SHOW RESPECT?" At that time, Bode Thomas was 34 years, while the Alaafin was in his 60's. The Alaafin felt very insulted. He said "SE EMI LO NGBO MO BAUN?" (Is it me that you are barking at like that?) Bode Thomas responded by shouting some English sentences which the Alaafin didnt understand, so the Alaafin just told him... *"MA GBO LO"* *(continue barking)*. The confrontation happened on November 22nd, 1953. Bode Thomas got home and started *barking*. *He barked and barked and barked like a dog all night until he died in the early morning of November 23rd, 1953*. Bode Thomas was the Balogun of Oyo. *So, when next you drive on BODE THOMAS STREET in SURULERE, LAGOS, remember that man, who cut his own life short because of his arrogance and naughtiness*. Friends, *pride* comes before *destruction*, *humility* will take you to *high places* no matter what! Do have a lovely day. Be humble. |
