adeyiga3: I have this HTC M8 CLONE and it just got hanged @ the htc logo nd I later tried getting the stock roms from needrom nd co but wen I flashed the rom the phone stopped powering nor charging but it still get connected wen ever I connect it to ma laptop. So all what I need is just to get the stock rom or an engineer dat can help. Thanks The issue is not flashing the ROM. Since your phone can still be detected by the PC. The issue is to get a good ROM. Coz if I'm not mistaken, from your above story, the fault got worse when you flashed the stock ROM. I'll prefer you look for a phone exactly as yours, and then make a Nandroid backup on the phone. With your SD card inserted. Then you get back to me. NOTE:- the person should have a custom recovery on his/her phone. (Possibly clockworkmod) to make that backup. (You should also have this recovery on your phone. But we'll get to that, just get your backup first) |

VULCAN: @MaxGraviton and other gurus
My Elephone G5 (Android 4.4.2) went bonkers yesterday. It’s been giving minor signs for about two weeks but yesterday it went over the edge. It opens, closes or clicks on any app, widget or any icon at the top of the page. For example it clicks open the photo of any whatsapp contact at the uppermost part of the page, it also continuously pinch zooms in and out of my phones home page or any webpage I’m on. It constantly closes the keyboard so I had to type this on my laptop. Initially I thought I had a virus so I scanned with kaspersky and got an adware alert which I deleted but that changed nothing. I then uninstalled the launcher and the last two apps I had installed. No difference; so I did a factory reset and it was calm for a bit but within 20 mins it started all over again. If I leave the phone alone it gradually dies down but within a few minutes of use the madness starts up slowly again. I have noticed that it gets worse when I am charging the phone with charger so I stick to the USB port on my laptop.
Pls can any guru help
Thanks I think you have a faulty touch pad. Try to contact a good phone engineer around you. |

Tamee: I can't play songs on my lenovo android, someone pls help. The problem started when I clicked on settings-Apps-then cleaned up some caches to free space. I have uninstalled and reinstalled several music apps to no avail.. Initially, my gallery wasn't working at all, and I couldn't view my pictures so I uninstalled the default gallery and installed Quickpix from Playstore. Now, the music and video players have gone bonkers. No music file showing on google Playmusic at all though I have more than 500 songs on my SD card.
HELP!!
Cc Semid4lyfe, dragnet, puskin, MaxGraviton, anybody. You cleared cache on all apps or just on some?? (pls mention the apps if possible) |

I think it has stopped.
maybe the phone just wants to misbehave for sometime. thanks very much. Okay. But still watch out for it. There's every possibility that it went on a summer vacation. Tayomi37: Pls engineer, l have a SEVEN CLOUD PHOBLET(android 4.2.2), l discovered that it cant locate the memory card when inserted likewise the internet is unstable. I try to restore the factory setings but l dont know the code. What is the solution? Unstable internet. Be sure its not from your ISP. . . you could try two or more Sims on the device to confirm. SD card recognition. Try another SD card. If its the same result, then that's a hardware problem Take it to a competent engineer. |

WIZGUY69: thank you.
•since I started experiencing it, it has not been plugged in for once.
• well, when the browsing network is bad. I.e on G instead of 3G. it will be operating by itself.
• nothing. I started noticing it today. but it has been like that since. but I never take it serious. until this morning. Alright cheif . . . Let's be sure that the fault is not from the touch pad. Navigate through settings and activate the "vibrate on touch option". Then be very observant to know if the phone vibrates whenever it operates itself automatically. . . Pls let me know wah the outcome is when you've tried it. |

ShootingStar88: I'm a light user. The 3gb of glo has always been sufficient just that I stream videos a times just to waste it. Ooh okay. I guess you should still stick to that plan. Or you use the airtel 1.5gb for 2k monthly subscription. Bug be sure that Airtel has good reception in your area. As for MTN, I don't advise anyone to use that network on an android device. |

vivalavida: BBM have refused to work on my droid. Gives me a prompt on the screen saying unable to complete setup. No connection can be found. Amd my 3G is on ooo. Wha do i do?
And also while charging sometimes,u find the battery draining even while it is plugged to a power source. Any solution to that? Your battery is not compatible with your charger. . . that's one theory. Another is that, it is possible that you use the phone whenever it is plugged in. Most phones don't charge at the normal rate when we do that. |

folawalesegun: what is the essence of rooting or tweaking a phone? and does it have a negative effect? Rooting is the act of gaining UNAUTHORIZED access to your android phone, definitely it should have a negative effect. But the importance of rooting, personally, I think it has blindfolded me not to see those effects. Using a phone without Root Access is like a Nightmare to me. (Lools) Anyway, below are few of the numerous benefits you can enjoy from root access; • Fulfillment. (Yes ! The fulfilment that you're now a criminal. Lools) • you can change your system font. • you could use a custom recovery & ROM • you could change your kernel version. • some apps that wouldn't install/work on your device originally, can now be installed. • you can upgrade your O.S(if avalaible) etc. Like I said I'm going to be a bit biased, the disadvantages aren't moi business. . . Although they may include. • your warranty becomes void immediately you root your phone. (Who cares?!) • if not done properly you could brick your phone. (Okay now you should care) • when upgrading/installing a Custom ROM or recovery, if not done properly, could also brick your phone too. You can search for more. . . The most important thing is "What do you want for your phone?" Don't root coz others are rooting. . . do it coz you need it. Esp if you're the type that loves exploring stuff. Good luck. |

frehage: You know it's backed up to my SD card, and now the card is not been recognized by the phone. Hence my search for answers. The important thing now is to get that backup. • You can insert the SD card on another phone and copy it to the phone, and then copy to another SD card from the phone. • or you can put it in another phone and then plug the phone to a computer and save the backup there. • you can also put it in a USB card reader and get the file out. If any of the above does not work, you can look for a phone exactly like yours, and make the backup there, °° Buh put the SD card in another phone, if it is working on it. |
Phones › Re: Phone Engineers On Nairaland Willing To Assist You - Part II by MaxGraviton: 3:31pm On May 20, 2015 |
frehage: Yes. To flash a custom ROM safely, the following steps need to be carried out:
1. Root the phone. 2. Flash CWM Recovery or any other one of your choice. 3. Backup your stock ROM, apps and data to your SD card using CWM Recovery(after booting into recovery mode). 4. Backup your downloaded apps and their data with Titanium Backup. 5. Now you are ready to flash or install your custom ROM. If that's the case, then you can restore your backup in recovery mod nau. . . no too much story. |
Phones › Re: Phone Engineers On Nairaland Willing To Assist You - Part II by MaxGraviton: 7:11pm On May 19, 2015 |
frehage: Thanks. Yes it has cwm recovery. The stock ROM is backed up. Apps and data are backed up too using Titanium Backup. Hold on a sec. Didju just say the stock ROM is backed up like you have an actual backup of your stock ROM?? |
Phones › Re: Phone Engineers On Nairaland Willing To Assist You - Part II by MaxGraviton: 9:29pm On May 17, 2015 |
frehage: Thanks a lot. Hard reset equals "power" plus "volume -up" buttons, right? Does hard reset undo a phone's root privileges? In going back to stock ROM, do I unroot first before doing a restore of the stock ROM in recovery mode? Thanks. Yea, those are the combos for a booting into your recovery mode. The option to hard reset your phone is on that menu (I can't recall exactly how it is put there) . But, going back to your stock ROM, you'd need a custom recovery (e.g Clockwork mod or TWRP recovery) the Stock recovery, doesn't have the options for this process. As for the unroofing part, I'm not sure of my ans, I'll confirm and get back to you. . . Hope you had a custom recovery flashed on that phone? |
Phones › Re: Phone Engineers On Nairaland Willing To Assist You - Part II by MaxGraviton: 11:10am On May 16, 2015 |
frehage: I inserted the card into another phone. It's working perfectly. What could be wrong? I remember changing the "window and transition animation scales" of the phone from 1x to 0.5x, to make it faster, two days earlier. Could this be a factor? Okay remove your SD card and hard reset to your phone. . . if it persists, then you'll have yo go back to your Stock ROM, |

ifypoly: gionee p4 I'm sorry I'm asking too many questions, buh when you were trying the three SD cards on your phone, is it possible that they were of the same brand? Prolly the phone is rejecting a specific brand of SD card. . And please make sure the"install from unknown sources" option is active. . . . do your Music files also get corrupt? Or just the Apps. . Wah didju do last with the phone before you noticed, coz I'm assuming the phone wasn't like that when you bought it. Right? |
