A credible insider confided to us that Mr Udom Emmanuel, the Governor of Akwa Ibom State who was sponsored by Godswill Akpabio and brought into office through the barrels of gun, in a well-coordinated task team involving the Independent National Electoral Commissioner(INEC) in Akwa Ibom State, the Nigeria Police Headed by the now Retired Police CP, Gabriel Achong in concert with armed thugs, has already conceded defeat at the on-going Tribunal case brought against him by Mr Umana Okon Umana of the All Progressives Congress.

Udom, worried at the quantum of evidence Mr Umana tendered at the Tribunal and with the various witnesses so far paraded by the APC, the PDP has reached a conclusion that they will be brutally defeated in the case and have taken a pre-emptive action.

Udom Emmanuel has consequently set up a committee with the task to start preparation for an election rerun since it has become clear that the tribunal will cancel the purported FRAUD engineered by Godswill Akpabio against the people of Akwa Ibom State. The Committee is headed by Mr Uwem Ita Etuk.
Mr Uwem Ita Etuk, a onetime State PDP Chairman and now a Commissioner in Udom’s Cabinet was overheard saying, “Except I die, Umana Umana will never be A'Ibom Governor. Mr Uwem comes from Ibesikpo Asutan, the same Local Government Area with the former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Obong Victor Attah. Obong Attah is his testimony at the tribunal last week told the court how electoral materials for the entire Local Government was hijacked at gun point from distribution centre and thumb-printing was purportedly done in Uwem Ita Etuk’s compound with full Police protection. Please note that , Uwem Ita Etuk personally shut an APC agent to death on that day.

The Rivers election petition Tribunal sitting in Abuja has struck out the petition filled by the candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance Mr Charles Harry challenging the electoral victory of Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike of Rivers State.

Charles Harry had approached the Tribunal seeking an order for a fresh election to be conducted in Rivers State on grounds that the election which was by INEC was done with total disregard to relevant provisions of the electoral act.

The Tribunal in a short ruling struck out the Petition by the APGA candidate on grounds that his party violated section 85(1) of the 2010 Electoral Act as amended which stipulates that political parties must notify INEC within 21days before conducting its Primary elections to select its Candidates.

Family members of Osama Bin Laden were on board a plane which crashed in Hampshire, the Saudi Arabian embassy in the UK has said.

The private jet crashed near Blackbushe Airport, Yateley, on Friday killing the pilot and all three passengers.

In a statement on Twitter, the Saudi ambassador to the UK, Prince Mohammed bin Nawaf Al Saud, offered condolences to the Bin Laden family.

The embassy said it was in contact with the British crash investigators.

The statement said:

His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Nawaf Al Saud... has paid his condolences to the family and relatives of Mohammed bin Laden at Blackbushe airport in Britain for the great loss they have suffered as a result of the crash of the plane that was carrying the family.

The embassy added that it was working with the British authorities to ensure the speedy handover of the bodies for funerals and burials in Saudi Arabia.

The plane - an Embraer Phenom 300 - is reported to have belonged to an aviation firm owned by the Saudi-based family of the former al-Qaeda leader.

The plane, which was arriving from Milan, Italy, crashed into a British Car Auctions site at the airfield shortly after 15:00 BST, exploding on impact.

Its pilot and all three passengers were killed but no-one on the ground was injured, Hampshire Police said.

The force is carrying out a joint investigation with the AAIB.

In a statement, Blackbushe Airport said the jet had crashed near the end of the runway while attempting to make a landing.

Could have been worse but luckily I escaped with a minor burn on my thigh. Guys be careful with these powerbanks for you cellphones. They literally catch fire.

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo yesterday said he will be alive in another 25years to celebrate 50th coronation anniversary with the Akarigbo of Remo kingdom, His Imperial Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Michael Adeniyi Sonariwo, and consequently live beyond 100 years.

Obasanjo who practically turned the Akarigbo’s palace,venue of the monarch’s 25th coronation anniversary in Sagamu, Ogun State, to a theatre of sort as he amused everybody at the event, apologised to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo for coming late to the event after the nation’s number two citizen has arrived much earlier. The former President also urged the monarch to continue to extend the kind of support he gave him when he was the nation’s president to the state governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, so that he could succeed.

Osinbajo, who was also there to deliver a keynote address, commended the royal father on the wisdom he used to end the communal clash that occurred between the Hausa and their Yoruba hosts in 1999, saying that wisdom has continued to enable the two ethnic groups to live in harmony since then. Obasanjo who clocked 78 years last March, is believed to be over 80 years old already because a lot of people who said they used to call him egbon (elder brother) in his Owu community in Abeokuta are already over 80 years. Speaking in Yoruba language, the retired general who started jokingly by sayIng “I am not supposed to talk because a lot of personalities like the Vice President Osinbajo, Governor Amosun, former Governor Gbenga Daniel, Oba Rilwan Akiolu of Lagos and other dignitaries are here. “He caused the people to burst into laughter again when he added “aloku soja bi temi naa wan bi (over used, exhausted and retired soldier like me is also here, while referring to former Chief of General Staff, Lt. Gen. Oladipo Diya (retd)

Osinbajo who also followed Obasanjo’s footsteps by reading his speech in Yoruba language eulogised Akarigbo for making sure that peace reigned in his domain and ensuring that the Permanent Camp of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) was located in Sagamu during his tenure Governor Amosun commended the royal father for the developments that Remoland witnessed during the 25 years reign of Oba Sonariwo, saying because the monarch is a Senior Fellow of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (FCA) that was the reason his domain is experiencing rapid development. He added that because he (Amosun) is also a Fellow of Chartered Accountant of Nigeria (FCA) he would continue to develop the state and ensure that he finishes all the projects he has embarked on before the expiration of his tenure in 2019.
