Singer MC Galaxy recently held his album. launch at the Emerald Event Centre, Uyo, Akwa- Ibom state and had the Governor, Godswill. Akpabio and the Governor-elect Udom. Emmanuel were in attendance.

The Governor who was pleased with the artiste. generously gifted him a 2015 Toyota Prado SUV. in front of a large crowd. MC Galaxy who. couldn’t contain his excitement postrated and. kissed the legs of the Governor.

MC Galaxy’s debut album “Breakthrough” is. expected to hit the streets in a matter of days.

The student, simply identified as Blessing, was
apprehended by the school’s security guards who
were conducting checks on the students luggage
following their resumption for the second term.


In an attempt to smuggle the bombs into the
school, Blessing, who joined the school last
September, concealed the bombs inside gari and it
took the vigilance of the security men to detect
them.

Upon the discovery, she was quickly arrested
alongside her father who is said to be a retired
Police Inspector from Numan in Adamawa state
while the bomb disposal unit at the police
headquarters was quickly called in to defuse the
bombs.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations
Officer (PPRO), ASP Joseph Kwaji, said both the girl
and her father are under detention while
investigation is being conducted into the matter.

The ruling Peoples Democratic Party on Monday invited the opposition to free, fair and peaceful contest in 2015.

It also said it had done well for the country in the last 15 years since the country returned to democratic rule.

The party, therefore, said the declaration by President Goodluck Jonathan for the 2015 presidential election, which holds at the Eagle Square, Abuja on Tuesday, was an immeasurable boost to the collective aspiration of millions of members of the party for the greatness of Nigeria through the continuity of the quiet, all-sector transformation of the nation.

National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Chief Olisa Metuh, stated this in a statement in Abuja.

“The champion, the best of them all is on the stage”, Metuh said and therefore, invited the opposition to what he described as “a free, fair and non-violent contest”.

The PDP spokesman said the unanimous endorsement of President Jonathan for a second term by the party, was a decision anchored firmly on the overriding necessity for an unmitigated protection of the national interest against the backdrop of sectional and selfish machinations emanating from the ranks of the opposition.

He further said the acceptance of the offer made to Jonathan by the party after weeks of wide consultation and deep thought for national service, was a significant fresh assurance of better days ahead from a President who he said was known for working more than he talks.

President Goodluck Jonathan on Monday vowed that no matter how long it takes, his administration would ensure that all those responsible for the death of many students in a bomb attack on Government Science Secondary School, Potiskum, Yobe State, are brought to justice.

The president also promised the same fate to all those behind continuing acts of terrorism across the country.

This was contained in a statement made available to journalists by the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the President, Dr. Reuben Abati.

Jonathan extended his heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Yobe State on the death of the students even as he sympathized with all parents who lost their children in the attack.

The statement read in part, “The President condemns the dastardly murder of the students on their school’s assembly ground as they prepared to begin another week of study in pursuit of a better life for themselves and their families.

“He assures the grieving parents and people of Yobe state that no matter how long it takes, the Federal Government will ensure that all those responsible for the senseless murder of so many promising youngsters and the continuing acts of terrorism across the country are brought to justice and made to pay for their atrocious crimes.

“The President similarly assures all Nigerians that in spite of seeming setbacks, his Administration remains fully committed to winning the war against insurgency and terrorism.

“Nigeria, President Jonathan affirms, will ultimately overcome the current security challenges imposed by domestic terrorists and their foreign allies, with the dedication of its Armed Forces and national security agencies, as well as the continued support and cooperation of all patriotic citizens”.

Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State on Monday in Enugu declared his intention to contest the 2015 presidential election, saying his victory had been prophesied.

“In 2015 I will be the president of the country”, Okorocha declared amid loud cheers from broom-wielding members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, at a rally attended by prominent members of the party in the South-East.

The rally came on the heels of a similar one held in Abia State at the weekend.

The governor, who spoke in Igbo and English languages, said his emergence as the country’s president after the 2015 presidential polls would come as a surprise to many, particularly the ruling Peoples Democratic Party.

Okorocha, whose speech was laced at intervals with exclamations of “my people, my people”, also debunked speculations that the APC presidential ticket was zoned to the North.

He said, “Three months ago when I said I want to be president they asked, “Can an Igboman be president?

“But now when they count those contesting for president they will first count Rochas Okorocha, before Buhari, Atiku Abubakar and Kwankwaso.

“When they said they have zoned the presidency to the North, I asked, ‘When was the meeting held?’

“Now we have zoned it to Igboland. In 2015, there will be a turnaround in the fortunes of Ndigbo”.

Recalling the suicide bombing at a school in Yobe State earlier on Monday, which left 48 people killed and over 70 others injured, Okorocha said that the PDP had failed God.

He said Igbo people had been neglected by President Goodluck Jonathan such that no Igbo man is currently occupying any prominent position in the country.

He also accused prominent Igbo politicians in the ruling PDP of not putting the general interest of the South-East region at heart.

“They only know themselves; they don’t care about Igbo. APC is an emergency party for a new Nigeria; I would not have joined APC if PDP was doing well. We will defeat PDP in 2015”, he again declared.

The aspirant boasted that he had the resources to achieve his ambition, noting that he was richer than his rivals in the PDP.

He also used the occasion to present two APC governorship aspirants in Enugu State, Dr. Ifeanyi Asogwa and Okey Ezea, to the crowd.

Addressing the two governorship aspirants as “excellencies in waiting”, Okorocha advised them to emulate his achievements in Imo State when anyone of them eventually wins the Enugu governorship race.

He urged the people of Enugu to vote the APC aspirants, whom he described as “my people in whom I am well pleased”.

A former governor of Anambra State, Senator Chris Ngige, and many other APC chieftains were at the rally.
