This is a dumb ass post.  Black folks will put any bullshit down but how can you verify if it's true.  Every African I meet in Dallas claims to have been a doctor or an attorney back in Nigeria; Now they over here working at McDonalds or cleaning ass as a CNA for minimum wages.  Don't get me wrong, there are many educated Africans but the ones who lie about what they did back home just to impress someone kills me.  Who gives a damn what kind of degree you have.  You can have a B.S. a masters and a Ph.D in this country and still be on damn welfare.  

By the way, I am working on my Ph.D in Educational leadership.  I have two masters and a  B.S. degree.  My husband, who is Nigerian, was in the Nigerian Air Force (I stayed on Sam Efran base for two weeks with him in Ikeja) and he has a degree from Amadu Bello in Zaria and he has the piece of paper to prove it.  He had to come over here and start all over again because they do not recognize most degree from Africa here in America.  He worked his way through two years of nursing school (while cleaning butts for pennies) and now he is a Registered Nurse.  (Don't laugh, there are lots of African men that are nursed here in America and they make good money too!!)  I am so proud of him.

Yes, I will marry and I am married to a workaholic. He is a nurse and works at least 10-12 hours a day. At $30.00+ an hour I can accept a workaholic. If he can't pay the bills then he needs to tear his ass!!!!!!!!!! You have to pay to play in America!!!!!!!!!!!!! In order to have something in the U.S. you are either a workaholic or doing something illegally.

What turns me off is:

1. Short men

2. Men that Can not carry an intellectual conversation

3. Men that Can not hold it down in the bedroom

4. Men who do not or can not perform MouthAction

5. Negroes without a job or car

It's called "Hollywood", we here born and raised in America know that stars starve themselves to the point of death to look like Halle Berry. TV adds 10 pounds to you, so she you know she looks like a crackhead in person. The hordes of obese people is a result of a nation that has too much food and people eat the wrong combinations of food. As far as Nigerian culture, especially the beauty, I want to see more African women wear the ethnic hairstyles and stop wearing all the ridiculous weave that you see them wearing. You know it's fake because their real hair is nappy as hell and the fake hair is smooth. There are more African American sistas that wear their hair in its natural state.

People should stop trying to fit in and just be themselves. That's what used to be beautiful about this country; the diversity; it gave people here something to look forward to. Now when you see African, especially Nigerians, as far as the speech and mannerism, you can't tell them apart from the African Americans. That's why I chose to marry a Nigerian because of the culture of respect for family and older people but I don't even see that anymore.

When people from other countries come to the states they continue thier culture, they have their own schools, stores, churches, etc. But, I see more and more Africans trying to be Americanized, ghetto, acting like they from the hood and don't even understand what the hood life is about.

It is the Africans responsibilty to continue their cultural upbringing so that we as African Americans better understand each other and the great culture that our ancestors were stripped of.

speaking as an African American, it means being true to yourself and not trying to fit in with the norm. I can see Nigerians falling off here in America, but in Nigeria, No. The Nigerian culture is a beautiful one. What I see a lot of times is Nigerians wanting their children to fit in at school and they tolerate bad behavior. Also, the way the system is set in the US, you can not just spank your child, you may end up in jail. My husband (who is Nigerian) and I plan to send our twins to Nigeria when they come of age so that they can be emersed in the culture and language (Yoruba). Do I need to rethink?

I would not marry that person, if they did not tell me about their child from the door day one!!!! Hell to tha no!!!! If they are that uncomfortable about telling you up front then they will lie about any damn thing. I have dated men with a child or children. Run!!!!!!!!!!! it is not worth it.
