Kano is indeed a very beautiful city with the potential of becoming a major industrial hub in Africa. But my only fear is that the activities of the over zealous hisba folks, fueled by the multitude of religious fanatics in the city, that potential may take a longer to materialize.
Even well known Islamic nation's like UAE and Quatar are relaxing on some of these outdated religious norms. I read somewhere some time ago that even Saudis are planning a tourist city in their country were non Muslims can come and be free to party, even drinking of alcoholic beverages would be allowed in the city. I can't wait for that to happen, I sure will be on my way to visit the beautiful city.
