Security sources told SaharaReporters that operatives of the Inspector-General of Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT) have arrested one Dr. Tombari Joseph Gbeneol, a medical doctor and founder of Life Forte Chapel Church, Port Harcourt, over an alleged plan to kill Wike.

Afresh twist has hit the political war between the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, following the arrest of a Port Harcourt–based medical doctor and pastor over an alleged plot to assassinate the former Rivers governor.


Security sources told SaharaReporters that operatives of the Inspector-General of Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT) have arrested one Dr. Tombari Joseph Gbeneol, a medical doctor and founder of Life Forte Chapel Church, Port Harcourt, over an alleged plan to kill Wike.


According to the sources, the arrest followed the interception of a phone conversation between Gbeneol and the immediate past Secretary to the Rivers State Government (SSG), Dr. Tammy Danagogo.

In the recorded conversation, the suspects allegedly discussed a plot to bring in Israeli nationals to carry out the assassination of the FCT Minister. The discussion reportedly ended with an alleged plan to approach Governor Fubara for funding to execute the operation.

“The content of the call was considered a grave national security threat,” a senior security source said. “That was what triggered the immediate action by the IRT.”

Following the intelligence report, operatives of the IRT, led by Commissioner of Police Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, moved in and arrested Dr. Gbeneol. He has reportedly been in detention for about two weeks.

Security sources further disclosed that efforts are ongoing to arrest Danagogo, who is alleged to have gone underground since the matter came to light.

The Nigeria Police, however confirmed the arrest of the suspect saying the individual is currently in custody while an investigation is ongoing.

"He is in our custody. Investigation is ongoing," Force Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin told SaharaReporters on Monday, without saying more.

Although the police declined to disclose further details about the suspect’s identity or the nature of the alleged offence, sources familiar with the matter said detectives are working to establish the full circumstances surrounding the case and possible accomplices

The Obidient Movement has insisted that it will only support Peter Obi to emerge as the African Democratic Congress, ADC, presidential candidate.

The movement stated that it won’t support Obi as a Vice presidential candidate to anybody.

It made the clarification in reaction to reports credited to its National Coordinator, Yunusa Tanko that it will stay in ADC even if Obi loses the party’s presidential ticket.

However, in another statement by Tanko, he described the report as “deliberate misrepresentations and malicious propaganda.”

According to the statement: “Without equivocation, the ideals, energy, and collective resolve of the Obidient Movement are unequivocally committed to the presidential aspiration of Mr Peter Obi. The Movement can join any political party of its choice that aligned with the person, principles, and leadership vision of Mr Peter Obi.

At that, they led another protest to the Anambra State House of Assembly, barricaded it, and prevented legislative business from proceeding.

And all this was happening while you, Peter, dishonestly hid your own money in tax havens, as shown in the Pandora Papers of the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists.

Therefore, I find it strange that you, who increased poverty in Anambra and also simultaneously increased taxes, are now accusing the Tinubu administration, which has added $57 billion to our economy, of taxing the poor.

And just so you know, your allegations show that you haven't read the new tax laws, because in those legislations, Nigerians earning less than ₦800,000 will not be taxed.

Meaning that under President Tinubu, those petty traders in Anambra that you taxed to near death would have a tax holiday.

Former Anambra State Governor and 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, has accused the administration of President Bola Tinubu of destroying Nigeria through poor leadership, institutional decay and policies that have worsened poverty, disunity and democratic decline.

Obi stated this on Wednesday, while delivering a statement titled “It Is Now Time for National Unity and Prosperity,” at his official defection to ADC. The former governor of Anambra State said Nigeria has sunk deeper into distress under the present administration, becoming widely regarded as a failing and disgraced nation.

According to Obi, Nigeria under President Tinubu is experiencing worsening insecurity, rising unemployment, fiscal recklessness and a collapse of public trust in governance. He said the country’s democratic institutions have been weakened, with governance now characterised by impunity, manipulation and disregard for the rule of law.

Our democracy is under threat. Our nation is adrift. Our people are in persistent agony,” Obi said, adding that Nigeria is now recording negative outcomes across all major indicators of good governance, including accountability, political stability, control of corruption and government effectiveness. He lamented that more than 130 million Nigerians are living in multidimensional poverty, while over 80 million youths remain unemployed, a situation he attributed to ineffective and dishonest leadership under the current administration.

Obi said the Tinubu government has failed to provide inclusive governance and has instead presided over increased hardship and national disunity.

Obi also criticised the administration’s fiscal policies, describing them as exploitative and harmful to ordinary Nigerians. He pointed to the ongoing controversy surrounding the tax reform law, which he said has been admitted by the National Assembly to have been forged in its gazetted version. According to him, the government is attempting to impose higher taxes on already impoverished citizens based on a compromised legal framework.

It is bad fiscal policy for the government to make the people poorer and still tax them more,” Obi said, warning that taxing poverty would only deepen suffering and further destroy national cohesion. He accused the Tinubu administration of rewarding illegality and corrupt practices, while punishing merit and competence, arguing that Nigeria’s decline is not the fault of its citizens but the result of betrayal by those in power.

Nigeria is not poor; we are looted into poverty. Nigeria is not broken; we are severely betrayed,” he said, describing the current government as one that thrives on division, dishonesty and indifference to the suffering of the people. Obi concluded that the present administration has failed to lead or serve Nigerians, insisting that without honest, transparent and unifying leadership, Nigeria will continue on a path of decline rather than progress.

The bombers didn't attach anyone or anything in Iran. Just the nuclear sites as promised. So, where in your head did you register that Israel ran to USA for help to defeat Iran? Israel was not even flighting Iran otherwise Iran would have been leveled during those 12 days in which Israel had absolute control of all Iran's skies. Israel was sending messages of comfort to Iranians during those times. So, they were not fighting Iran. Instead, they wanted to limit Iran's nuclear progression and take out its nuclear scientists. They achieved that 100%.

Keep shouting that Israel ran to Trump just to make yourself happy. Iranians are currently revolting and praising Bibi while chanting death to the supreme leader.

This is not a direct attack on the political candidate Peter Obi - but on his avid young supporters who preached sainthood. 


It's a popular culture to switch political parties in Nigeria and also, a popular culture to criticize politicians who do so. In 2023, Peter Obi was polished by Nigerians as the Messiah - and I felt confused... Did they mean the perfect man for the job? Or the better man for the job? - the views I got pointed to the former and it became clear to me.


Labour party which became the Church of the Saints, was publicized with all virtues you could think of - and it felt so sacred that people didn't mind being card carriers of the party. The sacred party in the shortest time ever, began having cracked walls and pillars due to inferior building materials - and everybody in it now wants to run out before the building collapses on them. Some have escaped successfully, some are still acting brave with faint hearts staying in the building because they don't want to be caught cowardly running out of the building - but eventually one of them just did recently - but he ran out majestically. 


Now that the Super Star of the Labour party has been exported to the ADC, will the Obidients cross-pollinate? - Or would they tag the Super Star as part of the "Old Block"? - or would they do damage-control and say - "It's not by what you wear that matters to God, but your heart?" - I dunno...


But what I do know is that - Peter Obi is a fantastic actor, playing very good scripts and doing the job of a Politician as it should. Obidients on the other hand, are the pieces of papers used for the scripts and flung out to the wind after use.

... not just the Labour party though, but other parties do that too.


The nail point: politics is technical-sportsmanship and not some emotional battle. Politicians play it like a game; their supporters play it like war. 

The Obidients probably have a new party since their motivations are attached to the Person rather than the party. 


The moral question is: if they will be disobedient to their idol or continue to be obedient.

Gunmen suspected to be bandits on Wednesday night laid siege on Ipele community, Owo Local Council Area of Ondo State, attacking the Divisional Police Station in the agrarian community.


The suspected bandits numbering about 20 storming the community on New Year’s Eve around 10:00pm with a barrage of sporadic gunshots.

The Divisional Police Station was set on fire.


According to sources, the situation has thrown residents into panic as well as forcing many to flee their homes for safety.

The residents, who were stunned by the incident, stated that the gunmen, who were armed to the teeth, targeted the police facility with heavy firepower before eventually razing it.


According to an eyewitness, who craved anonymity, the bandits, who operated for a few hours in Rambo style, overpowered the security operatives.

“It was a terrorist attack. The attackers, numbering about 20, came into the Ipele community and began to shoot sporadically before attacking the Police Divisional Station in Ipele.

“It was a serious incident because many of us had to flee into the bush. The sounds from the attack were terrifying, and none of us could withstand it,” he said.


With the motive of the attack yet to be ascertained as of press time, other residents described the incident as terrifying, stating that such had never been witnessed.

Meanwhile, official confirmation of casualties in the attack has not been issued, as security agencies, including the police, DSS, and Amotekun Corps, among others, have since been deployed.

Confirming the development, the police spokesperson in the state, Jimoh Abayomi, stated more details will be provided after proper.

Ok continue the crying because of Obi till you kpeme. The last time I checked, Obi is a Nigerian citizen and that gives him the right to contest for any position he wants, including the presidential sit so long as he merits the position.

So any agbadorian that wants to kpai himself/herself because Obi is contesting for the presidential sit, should go ahead and do so that person won't be missed.
