It's kind of tiring writing all of that over and over again when the question is asked. When I found this thread, I had to read over a hundred pages away from the most recent page to know what's happening on the thread. Many can't do that, they just bump into the thread and ask questions. As for the LTE Bands he may not understand if he's not willing to read more about it; and even a side loaded google play services can't function like a follow come cause it won't be certified by google. Hence, some apps may not work properly on the phone. A good example is "DSTV Mobile app". No matter how hard you try, it won't work.

With all the hassles about rom and shortage of network bands, I wonder why people still order Chinese version of phones that have a readily available global version.

You just ordered a CHINESE version. It lacks Google Play services I.e no playstore, Google maps, gmail, Google drive and all. And the phone has 2 languages only. Means you'll have to side load Google Play Services into it. The CHINESE version is for those who live in CHINA, Global version for outsiders.

you just ordered Chinese version which has no any google app pre-installed,unless you can flash in global ROM but my advise is to go for global version to avoid story that touches the heart

Port faya! I ensure as much ppl around me use Xiaomi . Redmi note 7, Redmi 7, Mi Max, Mi Max 3, Mi 8 lite, etc, all dey around .

Using Xiaomi.eu rom on the Mi 8 lite which is largely based on miui 11, I can say miui 11 is really nice.
