Well-meaning Nigerians have continued to roundly condemn state-actors for this anomaly.

Although the right to peaceful protest is constitutionally guaranteed, such a right is not absolute in itself.

In the particular instance of the #FreeKanuNow protest, there was/is a subsisting court order banning such protest(s).

The only option for the organizers of the protest was to approach a higher court to vacate the judgement of the lower court.

By deciding to go ahead with the said protest amounted to contempt of court and taking laws into one's hands.

Farotimi himself is a lawyer - a "learned man" and ought to know better.

If everyone is allowed to do as he or she likes, certainly, anarchy would set in.

Just as negotiating with arms-bearing terrorists stands condemnable, so also is taking laws into one's hands in the guise of "peaceful protest" condemnable.

Farotimi should therefore not justify one act of criminality with another one.

What's bad is bad!

Secondly is who Riggs in an election?, the candidate or its supporters ?
The 3rd is, is rigging synonymous to only elections or any other like banking, manufacturing, policies, etc?
4th is if everyone commenting on social media today have the opportunity to use Thier phones and comments to vote for Thier preferred candidate are they going to vote once? Going by the levels of aggressiveness we witnessed from supporters.

i have already said (right from my first post) that if you said Tinubu owes Nigeria an apology, i will agree with you but he does not owe Jonathan any apology for not having the courage to push through a policy he knew was right. Politicians will play politics, All the opposition politicans criticizing the removal of fuel and forex subsidies are not going to reverse if if they win! Tinubu is not responsible for Jonathan's weakness! A president is not elected to be a nice guy but to make the tough but correct decisions!

I would have thought that contained and implied in "if you said Tinubu owes Nigeria an apology, i will agree with you" is that Tinubu played politics with the subsidy removal. I have already said if you rephrased it and said he owes Nigeria an apology i would agree. the fact still remains that Jonathan was weak! nobody owes him an apology, if anything he also owes us an apology for not doing the right thing 13 years ago!

If Tinubu lose the election in 2027 which is most likely barring rigging, it is not for any other reasons but because the gains his bold reforms have been hijacked by his corrupt government

anybody can say we must remove subsidy, every sound economics student who hasnt graduated knopws that. Removing the subsidy and staying strong in the face of the backlash knowing it is the right thing to do is where the courage is. that is where you earn your stripes and place in history as a leader. Do you know the backlash Awolowo faced when he was taxing farmers and market women to pay for free education? i read somewhere that at the time the tax rate in the western region was 44%. What are they saying about Awolowo and education today and forever?
