Why are some believers so much against suffering?
Why do some see others who suffer as sinners, like Job's friends did to him?

Why do some who claim to follow Jesus who suffered say because he suffered we are not meant to suffer?

That's not an easy figure to come by particularly if the President supports the Senate President.

If you are a President that is carrying out unpopular reforms, you need a staunch loyalist as Senate President.

There's no question that without Akpabio in position, many of Mr Tinubu's reforms will have run aground somewhere in the national assembly.

Unless the President has had enough of Mr Akpabio's long list of gaffes, the Senate President is going no where.

The increase in tariffs at the ports was a well thought out idea to kill off imports. On the surface, it looks like the government was operating with an altruistic mindset to stimulate local production. But when you take into consideration, the fact that there has been practically no new inventive policy to cause anything close to a "production revolution" in Nigeria by Tinubu and his gang over the last two years, it starts to dawn on you that the mafia in power, has a totally different agenda. Or maybe totally bereft of ideas.

You dont orchestrate local production by just closing boundaries and quadrupling import tariffs on essential basics. You do so by creating solid industrial banks, with warehoused funds to lend to serious entrepreneurs at reasonable interest rates, improving power, identifying productive areas where businesses in the country can have competitive advantages vis a vis foreign competitors, training the youths in different skills acquisition projects to help produce quality products that are good enough for the international markets.

We are not yet doing any of those. Even the local car manufacturing facilities, are left on their own as they fight with banks for their money. Most of the parts they use for production, are imported and these imports go through the new high imports tariff regime, thereby effecting the price of the final products locally. In essence, Tinubu is now earning less at the ports from car imports, because by hiking import tariffs, he has chased away the real importers, yet can not earn anything as taxes from any new companies springing up, because his total economic strategy is chasing away businesses, rather than helping them.

Iweala and Sanusi all argue for removing fuel subsidies to free up funds to invest in refineries and electricity power plants. Instead, you all support the crooks who lied to you that subsidies is good.

How can a country of 220 million people have only 4000mw electricity?

There's no other option than to free the price of petrol, just has been done to AGO and dual purpose kerosene.

The alternative is worse. The government will just keep borrowing to provide the subsidy with its significant but not but not so obvious cost to the economy.

These are the 2 biggest disadvantages of the subsidy:

1. It compels the government to borrow humongous amounts of money for what is a recurrent expenditure, one that will yield it any money to repay.

This borrowing leads indirectly to inflation and to the heavy depreciation of the Naira. The Naira value would be around $1- 500 and not the 1,580 it stands at today.

2. It discourages private investment in oil refining. How?

Many Nigerian have argued that before the FG removes the subsidy, it should either build or refurbish its old refineries. Afterwards, it can remove the subsidy.

Why do many hold this belief? They believe that if the refining is done locally, the end products would be so cheap that there'll be no need of a subsidy.

This view is simply bunkum as proven by the Dangote refinery. Local refining won't make cows fly.

As it is, the price of a litre of crude oil is N720. Refining cost hasn't been included. How then will he sell and make a profit?

If you want investors to build refineries, the price must first be freed. This will provide a market signal to investors to build refineries.

Despite petrol having the highest consumption in Nigeria, Dangote is yet to produce a single drop because the subsidy makes it unprofitable.

We don’t really care if you vote for Tinubu. Nobody coming after him will reintroduce fuel subsidies or unfloat the Naira because they know it is for the good of the country.

These are 2 of the 3 things that have stunted our growth for decades. The 3rd is resource control and fiscal autonomy. I hope he is able to acheive that.

Like it or not Tinubu has done Nigeria a great favour but people with low IQ and understanding will not understand.

The job of a good leader is not to make you like him but to do what is right for the country and to make sure his reforms are permanent. This Tinubu has already done. If he leaves office tommorow morning, when his Tory is written in 10-20yrs time historians will point to the removal of subsidy and floating of the exchange rate as the point Nigerias fortunes changed for the better.
