Manuelmarvyy: Pls I need someone to tell me more about Coventry University UK. Is it really a nice school and cost friendly?? What kinda job can I get once I get there?? Well, I am currently studying at Coventry University. The workload won't make me say anything nice right now (just kidding) but I guess it's the same with all UK schools. Coventry is nice. You'll mostly be doing warehouse jobs mostly outside Coventry. Common places are Leicester, Lutterworth, Nuneaton and Rugby. There are care jobs too if you like. Working won't be a problem. The only issue you might have is getting your full 20hrs of work since most shifts are 8hrs long. |

ThaPatriot: lol, 3million naira be looking like a chicken change. well, i quite understand sha.
about the German school i am actually considering language barrier You'll need to deposit your maintenance fees in a locked German account if you wanted to go with the Germany option and the 3m might still not be enough. If you don't really mind where and you wish you wish to study something computer related, you could research on studying in Estonia. There's a thread on nairaland that has all the information you need. Alternatively, you could try applying for ptdf scholarships in Nigeria. I know a couple of people here on that scholarship. |

What is the most preferred means .Thanks Do you mean you're in the UK and you want to receive money from Nigeria? There are a number of ways to do that. You could try RIA or moneygram. They have become extremely difficult to use recently though. Another way is to go through exchangers. Hope this helped |

Hello all. I got to the UK yesterday 21st September. Flew medview airline @N172k, landed at Gatwick. They wanted to kill us with food. Lol One advice, when you're packing your bags, do not use pack foods and clothes in separate bags. Maybe put some clothes on top of the food. Nigerian customs asked for a 4k bribe and I eventually dropped 2k after some begging. (Buhari should look into this. Lol). At the border, queue was extremely long. The IO only asked what I came for, what course I'm studying, at which school, if I already have accommodation. Then he wished me a nice stay! |

claremont: There are current accounts, savings accounts, and fixed deposit bonds. Most fixed deposit bonds allow unlimited deposits but pay 1-2% interest, the savings account that give 4-5% interest have an upper limit restriction on deposits, mostly no more than £3000. There are other savings account that allow unlimited deposits, but they pay 0.5-2% interest. Some current accounts pay interest, albeit very little. Thanks. I understand now. |

dustydee: The highest you are probably going to get is about 4%, and even that is not guaranteed. Most banks offer savings rates below 1%. Ok. Thank you. But is there any other way one can get interest or something of sort from one's deposit? |
Travel › Re: Nigerian Students In The Uk How Do You Survive? by mcstar(f): 12:18pm On Sep 06, 2016 |
claremont: If you are not going to need access to your money for a good few months, you are better off leaving it in a fixed deposit in Nigeria. I believe fixed deposits in Nigeria give rates of >10%, you wouldn't get that rate in UK. You might get a savings account in UK that would pay 5%, but it would come with a restriction to how much you can deposit i.e. most of them do not allow large deposits >£3000. There is no money to be made in cash savings/deposits in UK. If you are not interested in the interest, you can open a deposit account in any bank in UK with your ID and address details. Thanks for your prompt reply. I just need to get something tight. Do you mean there's a difference between deposit account and savings account? You know, here we have savings and current accounts(not sure if there are others) |

Thatfiyahgirl: Thanks for the response. Please I have few more questions please. For those who took IELTS test, on the test report form, there's nothing like award reference number and there's a box where you have to fill your award reference number when filling your visa form online. Am I supposed to put the number that says "UKVI number" on the IELTS form of the number that says "test report form number" It's the test report form number. |

I mistakingly filled the part for under 18s...my question is can I use a correcting fluid on it or I have to reprint If you can reprint, just do so. Don't give them a chance to try anything funny. It could seem like you're not sure of the information you're giving since you already did the same online and you're now putting something different on paper. Just my opinion |

ayla1: I am sincerely happy for everyone who has gotten hid/her visa and I pray that all the awaitings* will come here to share their good news soon!
However, I am a bit depressed that I won't be able to travel this September as I wasn't able to save the required 28days maintenance deposit due to this crazy forex palaver. This means the TB test is a waste and my half-tuition fee scholarship will be forfeited. I am not happy!
(sorry for the nagging, guys). So sorry. Maybe you should inform your school about this. |

It contains all the questions you'll answer online during your application. You'll have to print it and fill by hand. It's the first thing that will be collected from you along with the photocopy of your data page at the reception. |

dee95: Hi everyone, being a silent observer for sometime...but everything I have read here has been most helpful. So thanks.. However, I have a small issue ; I was at my bank today (gtb) and was told I could only pay my visa application fee and Surcharge using a dollar card which I don't have...so who knows what banks or bank would let one pay the total thing in a day...I know this question has been asked like a million times, but I was just wondering...like who has paid most recently and what bank naira card did u use, if u did. Also can one pay for a value added service in cash on the day of their appointment in abuja? Thanks..... I paid for my visa and ihs fees using gtb naira card so I'm not aware of this new development. You can try paga. It's one of the acceptable modes of payment on their website. A friend of mine paid thru paga. As for value added services, you can pay at the center on the day of your appointment but not in cash. You can pay with your card. |
