zaty: Hi house, I had my visa appointment since on the 5th August and on the 9th August I got his email from VISAINFO.SHEFO "Your online application has been received in Sheffield, UK. Your application is currently being prepared for consideration by an Entry Clearance Officer." But till today I am yet to receive any email stating my visa application decision. Does it take this long to get a visa decision from the Sheffield visa section? I'm worried coz the date of traveling is quite close. I also applied on the 4th and got the same mail. Don't be worried. Just wait for the 15 working days. I guess it's because this is a peak period and they have so many applications to process |

akfaa: Please what were you charged for student visa and health surcharge in naira. Please this is urgent. How much did the bank charge you. Thank you It really depends on your bank. It's $301.5 for IHS if you're going for masters and $440 for visa. I was charged some hundreds above 105k for IHS and 153k for visa. Depends on the exchange rate at the time you're making the payment. I was charged N351 and some kobo per dollar (Note that I rounded down both fees) |

worrisome: I am a bit worried... I have been a guest of this forum, but this time around I decided to create an account because of my sudden problem... I have admission already with my CAS. Although the document listed in my certificate is my bsc cert which is what they used to judge and give me admission. last week Friday, we got rubed and my mum's safe box which is where I have my certs was tempered with by the rubbers to the point that my cert which I didn't laminate got toiled with to the point of no recognition... the worst part of it is that I need to make my visa application and am confused... Although I have my statement of result, my transcript and a scanned copy of my result which is in my mailbox. I have sent a mail to my school which is yet to be replied till now... please I want to ask what should I do? can those be submitted alongside my visa application? or should I get a letter from the school. because I was told by one of my friends that for me to get a new certificate from the school will still take some time. am really worried. |

Timm: Hello guys,
Please can I go and do TB test without my CAS? My school is yet to issue the CAS because I just sent my bank statement this morning.
In addition to that, if I do my Tb test, can I get result immediately? What is the process?
Your response will be highly appreciated.
Kind regards Yes you can take your TB test without CAS. All you need are your international passport and proof of payment which is a teller gotten from the bank. You'll get your test result the same day. I did mine today at the Abuja Centre, appointment was 8.30am in the morning. Collection was between 4 and 5pm. Call any of the centers (Lagos or Abuja) to book an appointment for any day you wish and also to get payment details. That's all. No need for CAS but you must use the result within 6 months. |

OlowoB: Hello fizzle, if you have any further questions which you need answers to ASAP and you are not getting them on here, you can always contact the International department of your school.
Please also note that my personal opinion will be in black and home office rules will be in blue.
(1) You can use the money your dad has already placed in the account since last year sef provided the money is able to cater for both your maintenance fees and balance of school fees at the current exchange rate on OANDA and the printed bank statement must be recent.
Let me explain in simple terms......you want to print out your bank statement and send to your school to collect your CAS right? Just go to the bank and print out from June 1st to June 29 (that coves the 28 days period). Please make sure that the amount you will print out covers your maintenance fees and balance of school fees at Oanda's current exchange rate (this is what i will suggest). The school will likely use the rate of the day you printed it out (i may be wrong but confirm from the international/Admissions department of your school). After collecting your CAS, use the same bank statement for application of your VISA within 31 days (not more than 31 days).
The home office states that your money must be in the bank for 28 days ending no more than 31 days before the date of your application. Simply put, once printed, use it within 31 days for your application.
(2) The most important thing is that does the money in the account cover your maintenance fees and balance of school fees at the current Oanda Exchange rate? It will be preferable that whichever day you would print out the statement, check the current exchange rate of that day and make sure that when you do the calculations, it covers your maintenance and balance of school fees.
If you will print it out today and send to your school, it is likely that the school will use the current exchange of that day (i doubt they will use the exchange rate of 2 months ago) to judge your statement . I have advised that with this fluctuating exchange rate, to be on the safe side, students should put in extra money in their accounts.
Please if the money you have in your account at the moment (i think you already used the rate of 2 months ago to fix the money) will not be able to cover maintenance fees and balance of your fees at the current exchange rate, DO NOT PANIC. I will suggest you contact your school to seek their opinion before starting another 28 days count.
Home office on their website suggests that they will use exchange rate of the day you submit and pay for your application online but i strongly believe that with this fluctuating exchange rate, once you get your CAS (the school would have also verified your statement of account and trust me, the school needs your money and they would not want you not getting your visa), do your application online and go for your interview with the same statement of account verified by the school, you will get your visa.
For your school fees and maintenance, it is always OANDA rate that you must use.
[b]Finally, for your questions, you are not dragging anyone back. Ask as many as you wish. He who asks, can never go astray. I wish you all the best bro/b] Thank you for this post. I found it really helpful. |

Some Nigerians and their slave mentality! When are we going to start appreciating our own? So he's not good enough because he doesn't role with them Drake, Kendrick, etc? Lmao. They're the standard for the best because? Why can't they be the ones to want to role with our stars? 2face is a legend in Nigeria and beyond and he uses slangs, his native language and pidgin English in his songs and he's still reigning, been reigning for more than a decade so what? Many people don't understand Flavor's lyrics but we still love him. Get out of your pre-1960 mentality abeg. We're our own masters now. |

justwise: Yes it can, after counting 28days you can printout your bank statement and apply a week, 2weeks or even 3weeks after Ok. Thanks. Maybe it's just different for each school. Because, also in that mail, school said before I get my CAS, I have to send my financial statements to them first and if I don't carry out all these steps, they can't send a CAS to me |

MrsF: That is the part i dont understand ending no more than 31 days prior to the date of your application does that mean you have only 3 days to apply from the day you print your bank statement I got a mail from my school this morning stating the steps I have to take to get ready for application. FAQS 'Bank statements CANNOT be more than 31days old on the date you make your application.' So you're right,we have just 3 days to apply from printing the bank statement. I just understood this too. |

I want to go for a master's degree in Information technology. Been checking schools in Australia, UK, Canada and Estonia. It'll cost about 15M to study for those 2 years in Australia, about 10M for UK but it's like staying back to work is impossible, Canada doesn't have so much courses in IT and I don't know anything about Estonia. I saw a post by Malking on going the PR route. What do you guys advice please? Will it be possible to take the PR route seeing as I have no work experience. I want to apply before it's too late this year. Please help a sister out. Thank you for all your helpful contributions.. |
