Hmmm i understand you, the reason i answer him like that was because i saw him condemning one guys analysis few days ago on this page. Its not a good thing to do. I am a 45 year old man, i can sample conflicting opinion and take good decision. He mention UBA later, why he no go straight before if he really wanted to help?
Sir, don't always judge a book by its cover.
Some actions are coincidence sometimes. Not enough to draw a conclusion.
While UBA is good, me I would also mention JBerger for dividend and possible price appreciation at price btw 23.50/24. If you can get below this fine.
There are other good stocks too, let me leave it for my ogas on top to mention. grin
Remember due diligence applies sir.

Madam please i dont see negative energy o, I didnt crack a joke, i asked a money saving and serious question. Wetin con bring "writing long epistle" for inside the reply? Is it to deter those who can provide good analysis by tagging them as "writing long epistle"?
Bros, don't always take anything too serious in a faceless forum.
We don't only make money here, we joke as well, make person no come develop hbp. grin
There's a lot of uncertainty in the market now due to the situation of things in the country and the world as a whole.
The short/medium term risk takers in the market are even monitoring their investments so they can take action when there's the need to do so. Difficult to advice newbie on any stock now.

E ku market o. grin
Market started on a good note..........
Though looking Up.................but investors are trading cautiously cos of negative news all around............
GTB trying to lead the race Northwards ......................lets see how this goes.........

NB: Someone asked me about my GTB, guess because I always monitor the stock.............the reason for mentioning it often is not unconnected to the fact that GTB is a leader in the banking Sector and gives direction to the sector most of the time, which could extend to other sector as well.................if its falling, dont expect much from others, if its rising expect others/some to trail behind or stabilize in price.....................
Dont ask me for any chart that points to this. grin

@Mcy, plz help with this. How do I withdraw fund from my MorganCapital portfolio? I'm yet to get used to the platform.
To be candid, Morgan is good for traders. I like the Price-Volume relationship menu.
Simply send email to them stating the amount you wish to withdraw with your account details sir.
They will reply and credit your bank account. Just ensure you give them the account number registered with them i.e. the one filled in your acct opening form.

We are waiting for their dividends. .....plans have been made in reinvesting them already

I don spend before collecting self. Let them respect themselves and not come up with any story next week again. grin

I was reading all the insult throwing by both parties yesterday and I know something must have happened offline and not from discussion on the forum.
It didn't take me any time to discover this when I read their first few posts.
It's one of those things anyway. We agree to disagree and vice versa. Let both sort out the differences in an amicable way offline. We love them both.

Meanwhile, the foregoing discourse points to a conclusion that the markdown date is the single most important date in terms of dividend qualification. Yea? So anyone who buys a day before the markdown is DEFINITELY getting the dividend and anyone who buys after, won't.
Yeah! You're right.

If uncle Tony companies refuse to pay next week dividends as promised, these e-fights may enter gear 2.

Wow, i used to think this is the sanest thread on NL. This has proved me wrong. Everyone is expected to treat each other with respect, dignity and address issues with maturity. This is fast becoming a rowdy market. Please lets caution ourselves and face the purpose we are here for.
Lol. That's how it used to happen sometimes o, especially during bear period when people are losing money. grin
We will all be alright las las. grin
InvestmentRe: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by Mcy56(f):
Hhmmm. It's been long this type of e-fight ensued here.

All I saw thru the postings was a personal beef behind camera and between two people which was extended here.
@DerrugedProf, why extend your beef to the forum when we were not there when it started in the first place? huh

I can recall the last argument btw you and OGG, which could have resorted to e-fight like this, whereby he mentioned that you private-chat but came online to antagonize him, in which you used jokes and tactics to avert it. Both parties and everyone was happy, it never degenerated to e-fight like this, thus derailing the thread. Where is the wisdom used then?

Prof, I'm sorry to say that you disappointed us this time around. You are far more and bigger than this. sad

Without saying much or siding either party, I will like to beg you, OGG and all parties involved to sheath your swords. Let's return back to what this thread is all about, so we can all continue to benefit from its objectives.

Pessimism and optimism opinion and analysis should be welcomed. Caveat should however not be neglected. It's well.

In other words, selling a day before the mark down would ensure the seller gets the dividend?

That's exactly what I did with UBA. I thought I won't be getting the dividend. I'm waiting.
A day before markdown is the last qualification date.
No. You wouldn't get if you sell on that day.
InvestmentRe: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by Mcy56(f): 3:13pm On Apr 24, 2020
Princkez:
qualification date
You will get. First Registrar is up to date....and like Pa Emma and Rebekah said, close of register is a range of dates, enough to get record of all qualified investors.
Pls try and come here to confirm if you receive it once paid. It will help us put some of the arguments here to rest.
They're paying on the 30th I think.

emmanuelewumi:
If you buy on marked down date you won't get dividends, because you will be buying on a discount ie the dividend declared must have been deducted from the stock price
Exactly sir!
Buying on markdown date will not qualify the buyer for dividend cos they deducted the dividend amount already.

was 20th qualifying or markdown date?

You can consult them to know if they observe the T+3 rule.
If they do,if monday 20th April was qualifying date, you will not get it 'cos the shares will reflect on the registrars record on the 23rd of April..
Again, this is wrong. Think OGG addressed this issue in details before.
T+3 is no longer applicable to shares reflecting in your trading account or in registrar's record. Digital means of operations is highly in vogue now.
Why do I buy a stock today and still see it reflect in my trading account by close of biz?
Why do I sell a stock and still use the proceed to buy another one almost immediately during trading hours?
An area where T+3 applies is the area of fund withdrawal now....if you sell today, you can't withdraw the money into your bank account until T+2 days or T+ 3 days, depending on the broker.
Like I said earlier, this is Nigeria where we come behind in technology related aspects.
In order to avoid becoming a victim of no dividend cos you bought on last day of qualification, I think the best thing is to avoid buying on last date....think this is the solution and where your posts are valid. smiley

I have a verified info about my post above and its 100% truith.
what I said applies to united securities, cardinal stone and veritas registrars.
Kindly consult those registrars and take my words for granted if not true.
Again I said dont buy a stock a qualifying date hoping to get dividend rather sell your stock on same date and see if you will not get the dividend.
Welcome back sir Loco.
Concerning buying on qualification date or not, just know that whosoever buys on last day of qualification will qualify for dividend just like Exlaidback said.
I however do not doubt your claim that someone may not get when some registrars are involved.
You should understand that "Change" is something that's difficult for some people to embrace, they are used to their old ways of doing things, they are somehow comfortable with it and very reluctant to embrace new innovations........this is the case with some registrars, some are so backward. So also some brokers.
See the case of Cashcraft, they are big with large customer base. They ought to be among the first set to introduce and embrace digital form of trading but they chose to remain analogue despite the huge risk digital poses to them.....today, they are losing customers.
I mentioned few days ago that I sold my fcmb before markdown simply because I don't want Cardinalstone wahala. They'll still insist that you must submit e-dividend form to their office nearest to you when others are processing scanned copy send to them via mail seemlessly.
In essence, buying on last day of qualification should automatically qualify such buyer for dividend but Registrars names must be put into consideration before doing so......that's my little contribution. grin
Chai!! Me self don write epistle. Make Una no vex. grin

Yes. Fill and submit it. Once approved, you will get your dividend.
Dividend could be claim up to 10yrs back......not sure if someone can claim if it's above 10yrs.

Sir OGG, thanks so much for bringing result analysis back to this thread. Those Q1 short analysis makes so much sense. God bless you. cool
I just hope other analysts will also come back.
I equally hope those that are good at attacking the person of analysts, their analysis and opinions will desist from doing so. They somehow "chased" and discouraged them. Let's learn to counter with constructive criticisms, whereby we'll all learn instead.
