It was narrated from Abu Qutaadah that the messenger of Allah(PBUH) was asked about fasting on the day of Arafaah, He(S.A.W) said:


"It expiates for the sins(minor) of previous year and of the comming year"

Narrated by Muslim.





This fasting is mustahab for those who are not on Hajj. In the case of those who are on Hajj, it is not Sunnah for them to fast on Day of Arafaah, because it was reported that the Prophet(PBUH) did not fast on the day of Arafat
