Emmyrez: Yes, you can use the same Proof of Funds (POF) for your UK Student visa application, provided it meets specific criteria.
✅ Key Requirements: 28-Day Rule: The funds must have been held in your account for at least 28 consecutive days.
31-Day Validity: The financial evidence (e.g., bank statement) must be dated within 31 days before the date you submit your visa application.
📌 Practical Example: Scenario: You received your Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) on May 1, 2025.
Action: You maintained the required funds in your account from April 1 to April 28, 2025.
Application Date: You plan to apply for your visa on May 15, 2025.
Outcome: Your POF is valid because:
The funds were held for 28 consecutive days.
The end date of the 28-day period (April 28) is within 31 days of your application date (May 15) You are a teacher!! See concise and detailed explanation!!! |

Emmanuelowems: Am advising based on what you said...master by research allows dependants except they just a passed a law to stop it which am not aware of...then In terms of jobs I can't really say much on that,I guess you can work with the information provided by someone who is already there because they see exactly what is going on there Thanks a lot |

Emmanuelowems: It's false I advise that you always do your findings from reputable online sources so you are not mislead by any information In fact the person that said this is a blood brother who lives in the UK. He went further to say that health workers like Doctors and Nurses are taken to rural area to work. Can I say that he doesn't flow with the happenings over there? |

Please I was just told that UK no longer allows someone going for Masters to bring dependants. Please I need genuine response on how true this information is.
Also, they said the chances of securing job is extremely slim now.

Kaykaychizzy: Thank you chief. But on my CAS shield portal, there's a section where they require I upload a bank statement to show I have the required funds. Its showing "upload bank statement". School is Cardiff Metropolitan University and I don't know if theirs is different. The gurus in the house will throw more light on this and the specific documents to upload. Today is saturday, many nairalanders are in one party or the other.. |
Travel › Re: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 9 by meagainstdem: 12:45pm On May 24, 2025 |
Kaykaychizzy: Good morning everyone. Is it compulsory to upload a bank statement that's upto 28 days on the CAS shield portal with the required amount in my account? As that is the only delay for the documents upload on my CAS shield portal. It's just 15 days now since I transferred the funds to my personal account. Thanks I think bank statement comes when applying for visa proper, after CAS. CAS is the prerogative of the school offering admission and it's issued after fulfilling their requirement, such as payment of the initial deposit. Their own temporarily stops at that point while they push the rest of the money matters to the UK immigration office. In my opinion, bank statement for 28 days starts immediately after the issuance of CAS, in readiness for visa application. I stand to be corrected by learned nairalanders. |

Sparklingly: 1. No, most pre-registration courses don't require CPD for international students in the way you interpreted it to be. What they need is to have (for most schools) is proven relevant work experience in health care or something clinical related that can be related to the role of nursing. So the schools can ask you to fill a portfolio form, attend an interview before they give you admission, provide contact of registered healthcare professionals you've worked under, or fill RPL forms. 2. You can confirm by checking the entry requirements for MSC pre-registration Nursing in Glasgow Caledonian University, Coventry University, Brunel University, University of Suffolk, UCLAN, etc. Note for UCLAN and Brunel, the course is called MSC Registered Nursing but it is pre-reg nursing. And for Coventry only Mental Health Nursing pre-registration is open to international students. 2. IELTS is compulsory for both pre-registration and normal nursing. It is UK's requirement for any type of nursing. 3. Sorry about that sir, I will surely call you this evening. Thank you......Simply put |

samintegrity: Bro, people should understand that the Graduate Visa is different from the student Visa. The graduate visa is what the UKVI policy is referring to, as being reduced from 24months (2yrs) to 18months (1y 6month)
A Graduate visa can only be applied for after completing an educational program in the UK, Its a means that afford people who have just completed their study in the UK and are yet to get a skilled visa and are nearing the expiration of their student visa to stay behind in the uk for up to 2year - 3years depending on your course of program,
Also note that the Graduate visa can not be renewed or extended, but holders can switch to another visa category.
So, literally it doesnt affects potential applicants.
Where it may affect potential MSc or MRes applicant is if after your initial 2years student visa in the UK, You stil have not gotten a work sponsorship, then it means, your chances of staying beyond in the UK for another 2years while you search for job sponsorship has been reduced to 1year and 6months,
Thanks for the update thou. Thanks for your input too |

Fred2020: - Immigration surcharge is increasing by over 30%, potentially deterring employers from taking in international candidates - They are contemplating reducing the post-study period by 6 months. Less time to find a job - Int'l graduates to be restricted from jobs with requirements below the graduate qualification..so jobs like care and possibly some social care roles are off the table. - Minimum salary requirements are expected to increase further above the average UK wage - Employers must show strong evidence they tried to recruit locally and invested in training before they can take on Int'l graduates
The general direction is to make it harder for int'l students to stay after their studies......in other words, they want your tuition money but will prefer you leave after your studies. This is excellent. Thanks for taking the time to explain all these |

Sparklingly: If you're not registered in any country, you can go for MSC Pre-registration nursing in UK. To my understanding and research, Pre-registration programs are for CPD. Meaning, it is tailored towards people who are already working with NHS and wish to move higher to the next rung of the ladder. I doubt if it is open to international applicants. If it is so, so many Nigerian nurses struggling to pass their CBT, IELTS and other NMC qualifying exams required to get registered would have adopted that approach. I think Canada also has something similar too. Please I stand to be corrected. You may enlighten more with examples please. That option won't be a bad idea at all to explore. @Sparklingly, you didn't follow me up with our chat again...... |

Fred2020: A lot has changed recently (and is changing) in the UK, and probably not for the good of recent immigrants.
Do your due diligence and plan well before committing millions to this project.
I wish you the best. Could you please shed more light on these changes so that one would get prepared ahead? And if it's something that does not worth it, one can shift attention elsewhere. It would be suicidal for someone who is a bit comfortable here in naija to want to travel out for better comfortability, and get over there and be plunged into lesser life due to unfavorable immigration upturn, after spending a fortune. Thanks |

Mindlog: I sense your wife's confidence level is low regarding not being to pass IELTS over the years.
I suggest you look into applying for Global Talent Visa or SKilled Worker Visa rather than your wife coming in as a student as either of these 2 visa types will cover the entire family. Thank you Mindlog, You actually got the point. Her confidence level is completely low. As brilliant as she is, she did IELTS a couple of times and did OET in March. The OET was close. Only 30 points remaining in one band. In fact, she scaled her CBT once last year, which will expire next year March. But as it is, I doubt if she can face any exam that relates to traveling again, because of anxiety. She is beginning to see herself wasting a lot of money on exams. She still performs brilliantly in other regular school exams. I will read about the Global Talent Visa and Skilled Worker visa tonight and revert back if in doubt. However, I'm still open to responses about the study route though. Thanks |

Good day distinguished nairalanders,
My apologies for asking these questions at this stage, as I know nairalanders don't usually like to be taken back. But I need them badly at this stage.
Please I need advice on how people/travelers get these proof of funds running into millions. We want to explore UK application through study route for my wife who is a nurse but hasn't been successful scaling IELTS after several attempts for NMC registration. We are both lecturers in Nigerian higher institutions and have 3 kids. We are already frustrated with all our failed attempts going for over 8 years! Although she has a Masters from SA and presently at viva stage of her PhD in Nigeria. However, I don't mind her taking up another Masters (MPH preferably) in the UK just to make our plans work.
Can I be be given a brief rundown of how the processes and the tricks involved go? Also, I don't mind talking to anyone here directly if that would be convenient. I think the POF is the major issue for us now if we are able to secure admission, which I'm sure of. We both have promising line of professions that I believe can be leveraged on when we get to the UK. I also hold a PhD in Telecommunication Engineering.
Please I've read almost about 50 pages of this forum without getting info about it, because I know I might be referred to that. And if anyone has the specific page, I don't mind being directed to it.
We are at a crossroad now!
Thanks All. |

Kylead: Shyft is a digital platform developed by Standard Bank, South Africa, that allows users to manage and exchange foreign currency and make international payments with ease, directly from a mobile app. It’s particularly useful for individuals and businesses who need to transact globally.
The app allows users to send money globally, pay for goods and services in foreign currencies, or transfer funds to their foreign bank accounts with ease.
Payments are fast and can be tracked through the app. The app is backed by Standard Bank, ensuring that users' funds and transactions are protected.
Check them out and see if you can use the app. Upon checking this app, I noticed that the countries stated that money can be transferred from SA are UK, US, Canada and Australia. No other African countries are included. Is that how it works? |

IT IS POSSIBLE, BUT IT TAKES 3DAYS TO REFLECT IF YOU ARE PAYING FROM ANOTHER BANK TO MUKURU, BECAUSE THEY USE ONLY ACCESS BANK , THEN WHEN IT DROPS, YOU DO THE COVERSION ON THE APP AND PAY TO YOUR NAIRA ACCOUNT IMMEDIATELY.
All the best Whao! Thank you so much. |

What I meant was that assuming I want to send naira to someone in nigeria and I have rand in my account in SA, is there a way to send the money directly from my account without passing through the usual way of looking for who needs rand in exchange for naira? Hope it's clear now? |
