Is Femiaction d only person on this forum? Why is he d only one responding to questions. Just as omidoyinJoshua pointed out, some schools like UCT has direct link wit saqa which they use in evaluating documents before admitting students. Therefore, they don't request for saqa as part of supporting docs for offering admission. Has anybody had this experience of not submitting saqa to d embassy and granted visa? Let d person share wit us pls. |
I mean 1 Saqa 2 proof of residence 3 yellow card 4 medical (Government hospital in Nigeria) 5 Medical Aid ( South Africa) 6 bank statement 7 Citified true copy of your certificate and transcripts 8 PhD admission letter. etc @ no 7, do we need to submit certificate and transcript again at d embassy? To avoid another denial, can u pls explain how d credentials are arranged bcs I learnt there is an order in which it must be arranged. Also, I have two application forms with me and I don't know which one is authentic. One is BI-84(4 pages) while d other is BI-1784(13 pages) while non is having study visa on it. Please I just need to get it right by january 4 or else I forfeit d whole thing. The whole thing has taken a lot from me and I don't think it's as difficult as it seems except that there is a missing link somewhere. |
Hello house. I'm not just a happy man tonight. I was at vsf office in lekki this monday to apply for my PhD study visa only to receive my passport 2day wit my application denied. Reason: I should apply for a study visa, which is done at d SA embassy. All along, nobody ever told me that I was in a wrong place(vsf). When I called one of their staff showing my displeasure on why he didn't tell me moreso he was d one that screened my documents, he said most times SA embassy do direct applicants to them. What I'm hearing now is that d embassy will go on d year's break 2moro friday 18 till january and I'm supposed to resume school by 1st or 2nd week in february. Can someone take his/her time to advise me candidly here please. As I'm typing this, I'm having a serious emotional breakdown. Where do I start from? Any hope for me? Upon all the money I sank in lagos-transport, lodging etc. Honestly, this is not d best of time for me. |
Please folks. I have this question to ask the house. My wife and I are planning to travel for our programs in February and leave our two kids in nigeria for about 2 or 3 months before one of us comes back to pick them to join us. Please what is the possibility and feasibility of this b4 we attempt it. How are we going to go about it? Would they require visa too and how long will it take? Please I need a detailed explanation because we are in a fix now. |
House please, where can one obtain yellow fever card and police report fast? Also, I learnt there is timetable for visa application in Lagos and how much in total does the visa processing cost? Thanks a lot. |
@ yinksob002 and chemashie. Thanks. Noted |
Hello houe. Pls I need advice on one issue. I hold a passport that is due to expire in 2018 while I'm going for a study that will last for 3 years, commencing in january 2016. I read an instruction that an applicant must have a passport having 30 days validity after one's stay. How do I do this? Because immigration told me they don't renew passport until it expires. Thanks the experienced fellows. |

You do not have a lot of issues but I see a lot of slow or no action on your part. What you and your wife need are study visas for PhD and MSc and both are processed at the RSA embassies in Lagos and Abuja. If your kids are minors, they can accompany you to RSA as dependants and you do not need to get a school for them yet (by law). However, getting a school for your kids is not difficult so do not make it look like a mountain that wants to eat you up. You are being a bit slow in my opinion. For your MSc and PhD applications, you need more than a month to process study visas and your resumption is January. Get your acts together and submit the application. For your wife, you need to convince the embassy that you are able to pay the bills for the family AND her education bills. Therefore, your application will have to reflect sufficient funds to take care of a family of 4 (Assumption: 2 kids, your wife and you) and pay tuition for MSc for your wife. In case you do not have sufficient funds for this, you need to get your wife and kids to come to you as dependants and your sponsor need to show they will be responsible for funding. You can then start your PhD first and your wife can start her MSc later. Thank you TokyoBulls. The kids are actually minors. 2 and half years and 1 year 4 months old. The resumption is actually first week in february. I'm going for study leave with pay while she's going without pay. I didn't mean to be too slow about it if not for the final funding approval from abuja that is still pending. It was a friend that advised that I apply for mine alone first and about 2 weeks after to apply for my wife's with the same account I used for mine and the kids as her dependant. I think he said this so that d evidence of sufficient fund can be re-used and convincing. If my approval doesn't arrive by december ending, we might have to defer our admissions. I only want to block all loopholes for disqualification because I heard SA embassy is a little strict, most especially to Nigerians. Thanks once again |
Hello house. I wouldn't have had any issue wit my visa application if not for my wife and two kids. I'm going to UCT for my PhD on federal government scholarship while my wife is going for her MSc on my bills, both to start by Jan. 2015. I work wit a federal govt. Institution. Please can someone enlighten us on the best way to go about our visa application? i.e myself, wife and d 2 kids. My concern is that someone told me that we will attach evidence of securing school for the kids along with our application. How true? This and other sundry issues will be highly appreciated if solved for us please. Thanks in advance. I don't know why people are not responding to my enquiries. I think I should look elsewhere if this avenue doesn't work for me. |
Imagine. Just in the name of having PhD. Nowhere in Nigeria is better either. I have friends that we finished masters together about six years ago and started their PhD immediately,up till now they and their supervisors are playing hide and seek game. In UK, some of our friends are shouting. They always link their plight to poor Nigeria background. Only in Malaysia I see some of my bosses finishing on time. God help us. U didn't respond to the mail I asked. Pls tell me about UCT and Cape Town generally. Thanks |
staggerlee:@ staggerlee, Thanks for that brief hint. In actual sense, Neco is my supervisor and seems to be (virtually) nice to me. He assisted in pinning down my admission because I'v had to defer it 3 times. Funny enough for Falowo, he happens to be my lecturer here in Nigeria during my final year days in d university. I approached him for supervision first but later referred me to Dlodlo and Neco saying he already had enough student for that year. For Dlodlo, he accepted being my supervisor but cautioned me on the topic I first chose. I finally turned to Neco who accepted me all through. To me, one cannot have PhD cheaply anywhere in the world except you want to buy your way through which hardly happens anywhere also. If I can recollect your quote, Neco and Falowo are frustrating while Dlodlo will not help academically, but nice. So out of the three who is the best? Finally, I think what one needs in sailing through is the usual hardwork backed by thorough prayers for uncommon favours. Once again, thanks a bunch. Please I will appreciate if I can get your email or phone number so we can talk one on one. |

My wife also is going for MSC in d same school with me with d kids but we were told to secure our visas separately first b4 applying for the kids through their mother. But what of d section in the form that requires one to fill dependant? In short, I don't know how we wil go about d kids in terms of where to apply(bcs I learnt their own application venue is different),d amount and all other sundry issues. Thank you and sorry for bothering u. |
Keneking:Pls someone should shed more light about payment to SA via debit cards. I'v had to pay charges tru my throat in recent times on every payment I make to SA, even when someone assisted in paying for me over there. I'm tired of paying as high as 20K,10K, 17K charges for every transactions I make. |

Hello house, is true that before kids could be granted visa we should have secured school for them in SA? They are 3 and 1 and half years old respectively. And also concerning my own case, I was given admission for PhD in UCT but prefer to stay off-campus. Do I need to secure accommodation before applying for visa? Thanks |

muhaogunlo:Alright. Thank you. Some of my questions are that the application form I av wit me is about 12 pages containing some information pages. Are we submitting all these 2gether wit d pages that contain data? In addition, I learnt there is timetable for filing the application as regards days of d week (Tue, Wed & Thurs). Finally, where is d embassy located, how much sud I av in my account to qualify me and like how much will d whole application cost me? Thank u once again. |
